The EA Sports Player Performance Index numbers are out, with the Fantasy Premier League applying them to the game to add the gameweek 14 bonus points. Here’s a match-by-match breakdown of how they map out….

Blackburn 4 Swansea 2
Bonus – Yakubu 3, Samba 2, Givet & Vukcevic 1

It’s no surprise to find four-goal Yakubu leading the way in the PPI stakes from this game. Indeed, the Nigerian recorded the top overall PPI score of the gameweek, with a huge return of 73. Assists and defensive statistics saw both Chris Samba and Gael Givet record big PPI totals, with Simon Vukcevic’s two assist contribution from the bench enough to see him share a single bonus point with Givet. Scott Dann and Jason Lowe were just outside the bonus reckoning as the Blackburn defence racked up some decent numbers in the 4-2 win.

Wigan 0 Arsenal 4
Bonus – Van Persie 3, Arteta 2, Vermaelen 1

Robin Van Persie once again seals the maximum bonus thanks to a goal and a pair of assists in the 4-0 win at Wigan. Once more he’s joined by Mikel Arteta and Thomas Vermaelen, who seem regular recipients of bonus in recent weeks. Arteta sneaks ahead of the Belgian by 3 PPI points to claim the 2 bonus here. Gervinho missed out on a share of the single bonus by just one PPI point.

Newcastle 0 Chelsea 3
Bonus – Terry 3, Sturridge 2, Kalou 1

A clean sheet and an array of impressive defensive statistics were enough to see John Terry claim the top PPI score from Chelsea’s 3-0 win. He topped Daniel Sturridge by a clear 10 points, the striker’s efforts off target perhaps contributing to the margin. Salomon Kalou’s goal from the bench saw him nudge past Ramires by a single PPI point to claim the remaining bonus.

Man City 5 Norwich 1
Bonus – Yaya Toure 3, Silva 2, Nasri 1

The PPI rankings looked hard to predict in this game, and so it proved. Yaya Toure’s goal and midfield efforts were enough to have him claim the maximum here, but bonus for David Silva and Samir Nasri both looked unlikely. Nasri edged out fellow goalscorers Adam Johnson and Sergio Aguero to claim the single bonus point, while Silva’s assist and attacking efforts were enough to see him earn the two.

Spurs 3 Bolton 0
Bonus – Defoe 3, Bale 2, Lennon 1

Tottenham’s three goalscorers hogged the top PPI ranks here, with Defoe claiming top spot and the maximum FPL bonus. Gareth Bale trailed by just 4 PPI, while Lennon recorded 11 PPI less than the Welshman but still held off the claims of Luka Modric and Kyle Walker to claim the remaining bonus point.

QPR 1 West Brom 1
Bonus – Long 3, Barton 2, Gabbidon & Young 1

Shane Long’s equaliser helped him to a PPI score of 30, nudging him ahead of QPR’s Joey Barton to fetch the maximum bonus in the Loftus Road stalemate. Those two were streets ahead of the pack, with Daniel Gabbidon and Luke Young sharing a single bonus back on 13 PPI.

Aston Villa 0 Man United 1
Bonus – Jones 3, Nani 2, Vidic & Smalling 1

The deciding goal from Phil Jones, coupled with a clean sheet, unsurprisingly saw him earn the 3 bonus points from United’s win at Villa Park. Nani’s assist and attacking threat fetched him a PPI score of 29, with defenders Chris Smalling and Nemanja Vidic sharing a return of 20 to split the remaining bonus point.

Wolves 2 Sunderland 1
Bonus – Fletcher 3, Jarvis 2, Richardson 1

Steven Fletcher’s brace turned this game on its head and saw him claim an impressive 55 point PPI return. Matt Jarvis’ assist allowed him to edge ahead of the pack with a PPI of 22 to earn the 2 bonus, with Black Cats’ goalscorer Kieran Richardson fetching the final bonus with a PPI of 21.

Everton 0 Stoke 1
Bonus – Huth 3, Shawcross 2, Crouch, Whelan & Etherington 1

Goalscorer Robert Huth registered a PPI score of 40 to easily claim the maximum FPL bonus from Stoke’s 1-0 win at Goodison. Fellow centre-back Ryan Shawcross put in a strong defensive showing to push himself ahead of a chasing pack; his PPI score of 19 was just enough for him to earn the 2 bonus, with Peter Crouch, Matt Etherington and Glenn Whelan all sharing the remaining bonus point with PPI scores of 17.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Thanks AD! Mate, Larsson missing that penalty cost us both. And you had Shawcross and his 8 points on your bench as well - you could have had 110 points easily!

Yeah Larsson cost us more points! I thought Stoke would get hammered by Everton, it was a close call between Shawcross or Brunt but I made what looked like a sensible choice at that time and started Brunt.

According to my thinking, I didn't actually benefit.

It was a close choice between Lennon alone or Vermaelen + O'Hara for a 4 pointer.

        Lennon = 9 points
        Verms/O'Hara 16 +5 - 4 = 17 points.

Harry Redknapp admits Rafael van der Vaart was disappointed not to start Tottenham Hotspur's win over Bolton Wanderers, but he is determined to protect the playmaker.

Van der Vaart has been hampered by a hamstring problem for much of the season and sat out last month's 3-1 victory at West Bromwich Albion.

Redknapp opted to retain Jermain Defoe as Emmanuel Adebayor's strike partner for Saturday's 3-0 home success over Bolton, with Van der Vaart appearing as a second-half substitute.

The Spurs boss acknowledged that the Netherlands international was upset to start the game on the bench, but understood his decision to keep Defoe in the team.

And, due to Van der Vaart's ongoing hamstring troubles, Redknapp is reluctant to risk losing the 28-year-old for several weeks as Spurs attempt to mount a Premier League title tilt.

"He's disappointed, obviously, but he took it okay," said Redknapp.

"It was a hard decision. I just felt the little man (Defoe) is on fire so I stuck with him.

"I like Rafa, he's a great player, a good pro, but he keeps getting hamstrings.

"You've just got to be careful he doesn't tear it and we lose him for six weeks."

"I just felt the little man (Defoe) is on fire so I stuck with him." And how does this GW change anything?

Tottenham fans are definitely suggesting that Defoe might be first-choice too.

"so I stuck with him" not am sticking with him = this past GW, not next..
            Funny you say that about the fans - i just breezed through the Spurs forum earlier, they all were saying;
            1. In the MOTM thread, majority were saying everyone was fantastic...except our strikers.
            2. In the "who is our bet player" thread, VDV is voted as second best, behind Modric
            3. In the Spurs vs Bolton matchday thread, quotes such as "Defoe is one of the worst finishers in the league" "Defoe has cost us 2 goals, bring on Rafa now" "Please bring Rafa on"
There are more but Im sure you got the point.

Sorry mate, but that is nonsense. I am a Tottenham fan, and almost all my Spurs mates would agree, without hesitation, that VDV is the man. Having said that, Defoe is an able replacement and will get some starts if hammy is not right.

For me.. The part which VDV's owners should be worried is "It was a hard decision. I just felt the little man (Defoe) is on fire so I stuck with him."

As Defoe performed well (and claimed maximum bps), is it possible to see VDV starts on the bench again?

    Bonus system shite.

Under this system it's possible you can have a player running rings round a defence, making many exquisite passes, having countless shots just missing the target getting no bonus and a bumbling defender tapping in on the goal line in a 1-0 win getting the max 3.

    Pathetic

It's certainly contentious, to me it further punishes the real quality players who make teams tick but don't necessarily score goals. I know fantasy football has always been like that to a certain extent but even more so now.

I agree, there was nothing wrong with the old system really. It did, more often than not, reward the best players on the pitch with bonus. But I've said it before and I'll say it again, the bellends who constantly emailed FPL moaning and ranting as they thought FPL were wrong with the baps they gave and assists (where there were slight deflections) have made this game worse now. I don't blame FPL at all.

I wouldn't be so quick to get rid of Aguero and certainly not for Rooney.

That being said, United do have great fixtures and could easily explode at some point soon! I'm considering Nani or Young myself but it would be for a hit or 2 because I don't want to get rid of VDV or Silva.

Don't get all this talk of ditching Aguero. He is the second highest point scorer in the game and fixture proof. When City exit the CL this week I think he will start every game in the Prem. He won't finish them all but he doesn't need to!

If they do go out of the Champions League (got a bad feeling they won't), he is definitely a great shout, he's already starting every prem game, it's only going to continue if they're out.

But at the moment I have RVP, Ade, Ba and looking to upgrade defence or midfield so not looking at getting him in. But if I had him I wouldn't be quick to get rid.

        Im not ditching.

Granted, RVP is the player to have at the moment but i didnt get him in when i should have done and he is pricing me out now. I would have to reasses my whole team to get him in which im not going to do, id rather not have to rely too heavily on one player, im into the 80s this week without him so it is achievable. Aguero is a very regular scorer and, im convinced, due a Van Persie-like phase soon.

Barring injury, there isn't a chance Aguero will outscore RVP. He's not on FK's or a 1st choice pen taker or even a corner taker. Also Citeh's goals are shared all around the team.
