The EA Sports Player Performance Index numbers are out, with the Fantasy Premier League applying them to the game to add the gameweek 14 bonus points. Here’s a match-by-match breakdown of how they map out….

Blackburn 4 Swansea 2
Bonus – Yakubu 3, Samba 2, Givet & Vukcevic 1

It’s no surprise to find four-goal Yakubu leading the way in the PPI stakes from this game. Indeed, the Nigerian recorded the top overall PPI score of the gameweek, with a huge return of 73. Assists and defensive statistics saw both Chris Samba and Gael Givet record big PPI totals, with Simon Vukcevic’s two assist contribution from the bench enough to see him share a single bonus point with Givet. Scott Dann and Jason Lowe were just outside the bonus reckoning as the Blackburn defence racked up some decent numbers in the 4-2 win.

Wigan 0 Arsenal 4
Bonus – Van Persie 3, Arteta 2, Vermaelen 1

Robin Van Persie once again seals the maximum bonus thanks to a goal and a pair of assists in the 4-0 win at Wigan. Once more he’s joined by Mikel Arteta and Thomas Vermaelen, who seem regular recipients of bonus in recent weeks. Arteta sneaks ahead of the Belgian by 3 PPI points to claim the 2 bonus here. Gervinho missed out on a share of the single bonus by just one PPI point.

Newcastle 0 Chelsea 3
Bonus – Terry 3, Sturridge 2, Kalou 1

A clean sheet and an array of impressive defensive statistics were enough to see John Terry claim the top PPI score from Chelsea’s 3-0 win. He topped Daniel Sturridge by a clear 10 points, the striker’s efforts off target perhaps contributing to the margin. Salomon Kalou’s goal from the bench saw him nudge past Ramires by a single PPI point to claim the remaining bonus.

Man City 5 Norwich 1
Bonus – Yaya Toure 3, Silva 2, Nasri 1

The PPI rankings looked hard to predict in this game, and so it proved. Yaya Toure’s goal and midfield efforts were enough to have him claim the maximum here, but bonus for David Silva and Samir Nasri both looked unlikely. Nasri edged out fellow goalscorers Adam Johnson and Sergio Aguero to claim the single bonus point, while Silva’s assist and attacking efforts were enough to see him earn the two.

Spurs 3 Bolton 0
Bonus – Defoe 3, Bale 2, Lennon 1

Tottenham’s three goalscorers hogged the top PPI ranks here, with Defoe claiming top spot and the maximum FPL bonus. Gareth Bale trailed by just 4 PPI, while Lennon recorded 11 PPI less than the Welshman but still held off the claims of Luka Modric and Kyle Walker to claim the remaining bonus point.

QPR 1 West Brom 1
Bonus – Long 3, Barton 2, Gabbidon & Young 1

Shane Long’s equaliser helped him to a PPI score of 30, nudging him ahead of QPR’s Joey Barton to fetch the maximum bonus in the Loftus Road stalemate. Those two were streets ahead of the pack, with Daniel Gabbidon and Luke Young sharing a single bonus back on 13 PPI.

Aston Villa 0 Man United 1
Bonus – Jones 3, Nani 2, Vidic & Smalling 1

The deciding goal from Phil Jones, coupled with a clean sheet, unsurprisingly saw him earn the 3 bonus points from United’s win at Villa Park. Nani’s assist and attacking threat fetched him a PPI score of 29, with defenders Chris Smalling and Nemanja Vidic sharing a return of 20 to split the remaining bonus point.

Wolves 2 Sunderland 1
Bonus – Fletcher 3, Jarvis 2, Richardson 1

Steven Fletcher’s brace turned this game on its head and saw him claim an impressive 55 point PPI return. Matt Jarvis’ assist allowed him to edge ahead of the pack with a PPI of 22 to earn the 2 bonus, with Black Cats’ goalscorer Kieran Richardson fetching the final bonus with a PPI of 21.

Everton 0 Stoke 1
Bonus – Huth 3, Shawcross 2, Crouch, Whelan & Etherington 1

Goalscorer Robert Huth registered a PPI score of 40 to easily claim the maximum FPL bonus from Stoke’s 1-0 win at Goodison. Fellow centre-back Ryan Shawcross put in a strong defensive showing to push himself ahead of a chasing pack; his PPI score of 19 was just enough for him to earn the 2 bonus, with Peter Crouch, Matt Etherington and Glenn Whelan all sharing the remaining bonus point with PPI scores of 17.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Already have Nani and seriously tempted to double up with VDV > Young.... especially with the Chico injury. Could be absolutely inspired for this weekend and the fixtures ahead... or could bomb horribly.

I Baled on Nani (ha ha ha) last week after what felt like 2 assists in 7 GWs or some such. When Hernandez was injured Nani was shifted to a more central role supporting Rooney which might be better for points. He also clearly got the assist and some bonus, so even though I gained from the transfer I feel I may have fallen victim to the old "crap til you sell them" spell. That said it was a dire 1-0 win that firmly lay in the recent "grind" mode as opposed to the early "thrash" mode so I really wouldn't get more than one united player until they go back into thrash mode. That is, not yet. Also, I've been there with Young and Nani and I can tell you it wasn't worth it back then (excepting the insane Arsenal game). It certainly isn't now.

It's crazy when you get a close H2H and the slightest thing will make a difference. This week is the closest ever for me: I'm on 78(-4) and my opponent is on 76. We both have Enrique left to play and the only difference is I have Schwarzer left to play too (against him!). So if both pick up the standard 2 points we're going to draw!

I'll be so gutted if Schwarzer gets booked or something...

I'd suggest your best bet here is save points... can easily see 3pts for Scharwzer in tonights game.

Haha. Only the diehards keep Suarez now. Reminds me of a bit of Ally McCoist commentary from classic FIFA 05: "I don't get it! He does the hard bit - that's getting past the defender - but the easy bit - he can't put it into the net!"

Yeah I'm banking on save points. But there's a fine line between save points and goals conceded deductions...

Young is doing just alright but Nani looks like a better fantasy prospect and played as a forward when Hernández got injured during the match against villa but probably won't play as a forward as Welbeck will fill the that role while Hernández is out.

This is a concern with Nani. If Welbeck plays as a striker, Ferguson said that Valencia came on and was "excellent"

I think we are a more rounded attacking team when Welbeck plays instead of Hernandez. As lethal as he is, he doesn't contribute that much outside the box, whereas Welbeck has a physical presence and plays the flanks.

Fergie: "Danny Welbeck is fit again and fortunately he got 15 minutes tonight which is good. He has not had a lot of football recently which is something I have to consider"

Nani played behind Rooney for a while last game, could happen again this weekend.

    Jones Enrique Brown Simpson Wilko

    RVP Aguero Ade

Already used my freebie getting Jones in. Considering this 8 pointer:

    Walters/Aguero - Nani/Ba

Risky I know, but I think Ba could do as well or better than Aguero this week, so it's 8 points on Walters vs Nani. What do people think?

Is this backline be too expensive?

    Vermaelen – Jones – Kompany – Simpson – NTaylor

I’m usually opposed to spending so much on defence, but at the moment this seems to be where the points are, and I’m struggling to find midfielders in the 5-7m range I haven’t already got or are tempted enough to get in.

A little expensive, but they will score you points so no need to change it. Two cheaper options on the bench make the other 3 okay

No. Three big players each from defence, mid and attack is the way forward imo.

Howdy folks, currently doing well in my mini-leagues, 2nd in most of them, but wanna get back to the top of the pile. Team is as follows with 2 FT's and 0 in the bank:
    Vorm Ruddy

    Jones Kompany Wilkinson Simpson Brown

    Ramsey Sinclair VDV Nani Surman

    Aguero Sturridge RVP

Thinking of doing Aguero>Suarez + Kompany>Baines (these would both be great differentials but are maybe risky?) Should I do something else instead?

I wouldn't touch your forwardline, looks great.

Ramsey and Surman would be the two I'd look at; one's gone off the boil points wise, the other never got started (bar a random assist the other week).

hmmmm, thanks. Food for thought. I actually wouldn't bother wasing a transfer on Surman though I don't think as I'd just swap him for some other bench fodder. Good call on Ramsey though, I know I need to get rid of him

Suarez isn't a good differential as a huge proportion of FPL still owns him - check the percentage. It's only here on FFS that he's rare, unless all you Suarez owners have gone really quiet (come out come out wherever you are!!)

Suarez is a differential in my leagues at least. I only bought him this week, cup tie coming down to Suarez -2 vs. Enrique, I'm not the favourite but it's certainly an interesting one 😛

Oh true well if the mini league is the priority yeah. But the whole transferring for a differential thing does my head in, I understand the maths of it but surely in the end it's about maximizing possible points irrespective of how many people own him. I suppose the wider point is that you have to take bigger gambles when you're behind and that means differentials.

The 15 extra points if the captain went to vp + the 8 points from shawcross - the 2 points he actually got me = 21. My own fault for not just doing the obvious thing and capt rvp.

he's getting very hard to ignore. What impresses me is his desire to score. He runs up to the opposition's penalty box, whenever he can, defends well and is a real nuisance at corners. He's like a mixture of Samba and old style ferdinand...

      In conclusion - FPL gold.

then after that the fixtures get better.

If I'd have acted on the 'I've missed the boat' thoughts this season then I never would have got Silva, VDv, Bale, RVP in when I did after a week or two of great pts.

Would be interested to see his scoring history. If he continues at this rate (3 goals in 4 games) then he's on for 15 goal season.

But if you think things might start to even out a bit, and aren't convinced Arsenal will keep a lot of clean sheets, then he starts looking a bit overpriced.

Fair play if you've had him the last 4 weeks, that was either some supernatural foresight or supreme luck, but I think the rest of us have missed the boat for now.

How does this sound as a transfer plan: (currently got 2 free)
    This week: VdV -> Bale
Next week: Kompany -> Baines. Sess -> O'Hara
(VdV downgrade needed to fund the Baines upgrade)
    Cheers

Our lass got involved in the works mini league for second half of last season and decided to join in again this time, first full season for her.

By her own admission she knew 'nothing at all' about football before this season (she is a horse girl and always prefered rugby league to football).

She is now ranked inside the top 8,000, never gets involved with the forums and only ever comes on here to check injuries/suspensions.
