In the first of a number of members articles over the international break, we delve into the data from the Gameweek gone by. Palace’s approach with Christian Benteke arrives under the radar, whilst we also take a look at Paul Pogba’s first away outing for United, Chelsea’s in-form attacking duo and the performance of City’s playmaker in the weekend win over West Ham.

    See that no price changes.

Have 2FT and Aguero & Gray. Thinking go to Lukaku & Benteke and forsake Arsenal mids. Then WC after gw5 for Kun return and Arsenal up turn in fixtures. What would you do?

    B) Nay

Need to hold off agree until no Gray circumstances. Two great fixtures if he is freed.

I'm in for Sanchez too. The explosiveness to hard to ignore even if Ozil consistent.

Is Sanchez really worth it over Ozil? Or does the consistency and marginally lower price of Ozil mean he's the better option?
The Watchlist ranks Ozil above Sanchez. But Ozil isn't even an option in the Captain's poll while Sanchez is...

Its an interesting comparison. I think we can all agree that Sanchez will confortable outscore Ozil barring and injury or suspension. But If Ozil was 0.5 less than he is, he would be the better value. But hes priced slighty too high. Gotta go with Sanchez if you can

For me it depends on when you plan to wildcard. If you are wildcarding soon, roll the dice and go with the big hitter. If you don't plan to wildcard soon, I'd rather go with Ozil and have the extra funds to use elsewhere.

    Sanchez has better pts/game
    Ozil has better pts/value

Sanchez being a better C option (because of the pts/game). If you have a C in your team Ozil is the better option. If you plan on Cing Sanchez, Sanchez is the better option

With all the penalties in the first few weeks, a world-class penalty taker like Zaza for a good team should be a very attractive option.

Cheaper than Tekkers and Defoe, would never be on pens but hammers have the potential to be a great team just struggling with injuries. Good run of fixtures coming up though.

Just imagine if Payet, Lanzini, Carroll, Zaza, Sakho, Valencia, Feghouli, Tore, Antonio, Fletcher, Calleri, Ayew were all fit. So many options up top now.

      1. Pied Mee Ince Silva

I think Hazard is safer, he's been brilliant early on.

Do you think RW is Antonio's place for now mate? Is it too risky to punt on him?

      1. JogaSemmedo

I think it will be after the City game. Heard Barry Gold on the radio say last week Antonio hates to pay RB which I was surprised to hear as a chairman potentially undermining his manager. He was adamant Antonio will be a big star so think the will within the club is behind Antonio playing in attack

      2. HammersFan

        @Nick

latest rumour is Richards on loan, that to me sounds like Bilic has finally clicked that Antonio is a winger, never a RB. If all the front players were fit, this would be my team.

        ............Zaza/Carroll
        Payet.....Ayew.....Antonio
        ..........Noble..Kouyate

Tore is garbage tbh, Feghouli would be the biggest threat to Antonio. Still leaves Lanzini, Calleri, Fletcher, Nordviet, Fernandes, Sakho, Valencia.

            Micah Richards from Villa haha

If I was on a wc I would definitly look at Antonio as my 3/4th mid. Hopefully we get Payet, Lanzini back after internationals, plenty of goals in this team.

I think that this line-up is about right - but I can see Anotonio, Lanzini, Feghouli and, perhaps, Ayew chopping and changing a fair bit. It could be frustrating from a Fantasy point of view (...but great from a WHU point of view!)

Yep Bilic showed last season he wasnt afraid to mix it up, 352, 451, 433. Payet sould be the only safe bet. Best team we have had for ages, hopefully we can push for Europe again this year.

It will also be interesting to see what happens if (when) we end up trailing late in a game - there are so much attacking options to turn to if Bilic is prepared to sacrifice Kouyate / Nobes or one of the back four. Exciting times.

It's more a personal preference, so if you like it you should definitely stick.

I don't think there's value in a premium keeper. I prefer Williams to Stones, especially because Holgate won't be starting much longer. Townsend seems more of a stats tease than anything (I'd almost rather save the million and get Puncheon), and I just don't think Defoe gets enough service/chances to be worth it over Benteke (and I say this as a Defoe fan).

If not nailed don't bother with cheapies on D imo.

Will do nothing but cause headaches when he is benched and you never wanna burn a transfer to fix annoying small issues like that with bigger problems always coming about.

    Foster-Jaku
    Valencia-Stones-Williams-Friend-Amat
    Hazard-Tadic-Bolasie-Townsend-Ramirez
    Aguero-Vardy-Gray
    (2.5 ITB)

I have 2 FT and plan to:
    - Aguero (if banned for 3 matches) to Benteke (good fixture and nailed in 'long ball to the box of Pardew's system' and on penalty next time, rather than Lukaku (I had Bolasie), Costa (I had hazard) and Ibra for MU's att stats reason.
    - Townsend to Sanchez/Ozil (good fixture and form)

But i have some worries about need a west ham cover, Gray possible banned, Tadic scoreless but great in stats, or punt in Bolasie as Everton cover?

I had no problem with my defence...

It's a valid option of you see it from cost perspective (FT or hits). If you have a good C option and 5th MF/ 4th DF who can earn points, it's quite okay.

Lukaku vs Sunderland, or Costa vs Swansea.

And instead you would play...Capuoe as 5th mid? Kind of crazy but yea its only 2 games so can see the logic.

The way I see it, value lost (which will be minimal anyway - bought at 13m and now 13.1 so the first .1 is free) doesn't matter as I'm keeping him for the long term.

As he'll be back in GW6 that's 2FT spent in three weeks removing and then getting back the best player in the game, and removing him will destroy my team balance as I'll more than likely use at least some of the funds he frees up to upgrade elsewhere, which will make it even more of a struggle to get him back.

The only other thing could be to plan to WC before GW6 to get him back, however I'm not the biggest fan of planning to wildcard.

Sound logic, I like the fixture swing in Gw6 and should have better ideas of bandwagons then so that when I want to wc. Definitly dont wc now unless you have to.

As long as you have a decent 4th defender or 5th mid for 2 weeks then its a reasonable move.

People who plan to WC this GW, don't push the button yet.

Keep taking hits so we can effect price changes. Play the WC just before the deadline and the hits get wiped.

    1. michudagawd

It has very little effect so you're better off hitting the button regardless.

It has very little effect because too many people have that attitude. If FFS had a bandwagon of people doing it, I reckon we would have seen a rise last night.

It's far too risky anyway. What if you're suddenly taken ill or your internet goes down on the Friday night before the deadline? Just save the hassle and hit the button.

Look at it as risk versus reward

Risk - forgetting to hit WC and taking a -44
Reward - a minute possibility of gaining another 0.1 or so

Personally I've gone with the bake a cake method.

WC, brough in all the hottest risers, wait 2 weeks, settle on my squad Friday evening with a bottle of red.

              Job done.

My options without Kun. Which one would you pick?

    A: Ozil + Lamela
    Kane + 6.5

    B: Sanchez + Lamela
    Lukaku + 6.5

    C: Ozil + Redmond
    Kane + 7.5 (Benteke, Defoe)

    Foster (Heaton)
    Shaw Stones Walker (smith, amat)
    Hazard Firmino Redmond Bojan (Capoue)
    Aguero Ibra Gray

Should I WC and do Kun to Lukaku, Remond to Sterling and Bojan to Ozil

    OR

Just do Aguero to Lukaku and Bojan to Ozil for a -4

Is it worth keeping Bojan against Spurs?

I'd consider the -4 you mentioned. I was hopeful with Bojan but him not starting last match and Stoke shopping for a new forward (Berahino and Bony rumors) has severely dampened his appeal.

Many are highlighting Pardew's 4-4-2 v BOU. But what they fail to mention is it didn't work and he had to revert to the usual 4-2-3-1 to recover a point. Wait and see.

It's quite possible it didn't work because Wickham and Benteke have duplicative skills. I expect a 4-4-1-1, with Remy sitting behind Benteke. But we will see.

    Foster Jaku
    Valencia/Williams/Stones/Friend/Amat
    Hazard/Firmino/Tadic/Ramirez/Capoue
    Kun/Ibra/Gray
Wildcard-worthy? How are Kun/Gray/Stones/Friend looking in terms of bans/injuries? Thanks

Stones and Friend should be fine.

If Gray is banned you could consider transferring either him or Aguero.

But this is not WC worthy in my estimation.
