All of last season, between two clubs, two divisions and a respectable 2300 minutes of football, Yakubu managed to net only 12 times. This term, before we’ve even reached the half-way stage, “the Yak” has delivered 9 in the league, one in the cup and sits above the likes of Wayne Rooney, Emmanuel Adebayor and Mario Balotelli in the chase for the Golden Boot.

Blackburn may not have taken advantage of his resurgence in form, in terms of their league position, but we sure did, courtesy of a return on “a goal and Blackburn to win” at 5/2 in last week’s “Flutter”.

Winnings in hand, we stride through Paddy Power’s doors once again to see what prices they have to offer for another gameweek…

First up, we’re sniffing around Liverpool’s Jose Enrique at home to Queens Park Rangers. Although he’s had a three match lull in terms of Fantasy points, the Spaniard is up against a side that has been slowly drifting toward mediocrity after an explosive start to the season. Enrique to assist and score is up for grabs, but with a cleanie very much on the cards, we’ll take that and no booking at 11/10 for £5 of our stake this week.

Next up is Chris Eagles. For a bargain midfielder, he’s accrued a respectable 59 Fantasy Premier League points this campaign so far, featuring heavily in Bolton’s flip-flop form. Paddy favour Villa, even as the visitors here, offering some longer prices with a goal and assist at 14/1. We’ve seen Eagles deliver this twice before this season, so this is a worthy punt for a £1.

Nani has drifted out of many Fantasy line-ups in recent weeks, echoing United’s recent lull in attacking terms. However, the winger has still managed to impress whilst his team-mates struggle to find a goalscoring rhythm – particularly in the midweek Champions League defeat, where Nani looked a major threat. Paddy have Nani to score and perform a back-flip at 9/2 to take our quid this week; they’ve also priced up a less acrobatic goal and assist at 5/1.

Having displayed potent goalscoring potential at West Ham, Demba Ba has really come alive this year in the wake of Newcastle’s summer sales. Calm in front of goal, he nets with his head, left and right boot, and from the penalty spot, with confidence. A one pound stake at 12/1 on Ba to score twice or more against an obliging Norwich defence is well justified, given that he’s already bagged two hat-tricks this season.

Our final market of the week is “Who will score the most goals”, featuring Wayne Rooney at 10/11, Robin van Persie at 13/8 and West Brom’s Shane Long at 3/1. Most weeks we’d look to the Flying Dutchman for goals, but with Rooney’s World Cup ban lightened to lift his spirits, we’ll go with Granville’s ScoutCast heavy-hitter for the last £1 left of our tenner; more for bragging rights rather than hard cash.

Just a reminder, if you missed Thursday’s “Paddy Says”, detailing the bookies view on clean sheets, goals and anytime scorers, you can soak it up right here.

Paddy’s Money Back Specials

Paddy have a host of refund offers on show for the weekend. They start at the Stadium of Light for Martin O’Neill’s first match in charge. If O’Neill witnesses four or more goals in the match, Paddy will refund all losing first/last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles. Paddy are also paying back all losing first/last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles on the Stoke vs Totttenham clash, if Peter Crouch nets against his old club.

Down at Stamford Bridge, Paddy are risking refunds if there’s a last gasp goal. If a goal is scored in the last five minutes of the Chelsea vs City clash they will again refund all losing first/last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles on the match.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to this betting lark and new to Paddy Power then you can take up any of these odds and offers and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

my other goalkeeper is Krul, who I brought in to replace Given (also injured)

Cerny will play for now--thinking it's worth adding him to free up value to invest elsewhere; good idea?

        team looks like this:
        Krul (Kenny)
        D. Simpson, J. Enrique, Brown (Wilkinson) (Kompany)
        Sinclair, Ramsey, VDV, Silva (Tiote)

No but City are considerably better than them. I think Chelsea are a bit stuck in the middle right now, they're coming out of it and getting back to where they used to be but City have the ability to shut the game down early on if they go for it.

You're quire right there. I think there's a much higher chance of a high scoring loss for Chelsea though.

If MC can score first and then keep the pressure on Chelsea without conceding it would be quite the achievement.

I think it would also be the first time the PL may actually be wrapped up before Xmas.

I suppose I just get this idea that Chelsea are still only beginning to click again but if they show up on the day it could be high scoring. Ye, tough to admit as a United supporter but City really look like they're mopping it up already. Especially with being in the Europa now they can shift focus entirely on the PL.

5 months is an awfully long time to defend a PL lead. Take heart, remember Chelsea last year or the famous ARS collapse 3 years back.

True enough! Have to keep up hope at these times, Spurs could really make a push if they don't wear themselves out again this year.

C'mon. No way are Chelsea not scoring in this game. City haven't kept a clean sheet for eons. I say this as a Chelsea fan, and think it will probably be a score draw, but I've dropped Richards to the bench for the first time this season (and am thinking of benching Yaya for Dyer).

If I'm basing it on Shawcross, Kompany or Simpson to keep a clean sheet Kompany will be the one I go for. He definitely has the highest probability of the three (not that I want that, personally would love to see Chelsea beat them)

I'd probably play Komps out of those 3 too. Predicting rapid fall down the table for the Toon with all the injuries, can see Spurs not scoring... I've gone with Verm, Jones and Enrique for my back 3 this week.

Ye it's bad news for the Toons alright! Luckily enough they have relatively kind fixtures. See with Stoke it's a tough one, defending has been very inconsistent. They'll either let Spurs score a couple or it'll be a 0-0 draw. Not a bad back three at all, I've got Jones, Enrique and Taylor for Swans (my rule is to always play the swans defenders at home no matter what.)

Also seriously considering silva to Nani as discussed last nite, if i give you my password will you confirm for me,,,i just cant seem to bring myself to press the button!

LOL One def. in would see you clear. Stand pat with Bendtner I would say. If you have more than one transfer I would consider Silva to Nani if you really want him. Not sure I'd do it for a hit this week though. Who are you looking to bring in for Bendtner?

yeh dembele is strictly short term. Long looks better than earlier in the season and might be the best down in that price range. What about Welbeck? Worth a try for that slot? Boyata def. sorts you out for this weekends def. and slot in Walters.

Front line is solid (since I have the same one :P) Mids are good too. I suppose Nani is a bit of a punt since we've only really been speculating on how Utd will be more attacking but definitely could pay off. Defence is good and strong too.

Because he's the cheapest mid in the game. At the start he was the only 4.0 midfielder. Thus given the way this season has shook out, he's irresistible if you're trying to squeeze in the expensive high point scorers. It's hysterical he's got to 4.2, though - haven't checked his price in a while. I have his equivalent in defense, the wonderful 3.9 Richie De Laet.

Who do I play out of Brown and Shawcross? I've got Brown in my team right now since Sunderland are at home against Blackburn. But they're also a bit sh*t. Shawcross is also at home, but playing against Spurs. I have Adebayor so if he scores, I lose with Shawzie unless he also scores....conundrum

      I've had the same problem.

I have gone Shawcross. I think Stoke could hold Spurs so don't think Spurs will score many if at all and think Shawcross has more attacking potential, but if they hold our Spurs, more chance of bonus points.

Blackburn are too good going forward and Sunderland have been shakey at the back, O'Neill can't make that many changes in less than a week, so feel I have made the right decision.

I benched Krul and Shawcross last weekend who both scored well, so maybe you should stick with Brown!

        1. I'm doubt if Spurs would score much against Stoke. Chance for big points from trio .. Low.
        2. Bale is doubtful to start.. We believe he could make it, but who know for sure.. 😕
        3. Defoe is also doubtful. But he would be all right, start, and keep VDV on the bench again.

If one of them not playing, my first sub is Dyer who I heard a rumor of might not playing also.. 🙁

          1. Spurs have scored 2 or more goals in their last 11 matches, including away matches to some good defensive sides. Stoke let QPR and Newcastle put 3 past them in 2 of their last 3 home games.

          2. Put Taylor in as your first sub instead of Dyer. If Bale doesn't play, you're a good chance of picking up at least 6 points from a Swansea clean sheet.

          3. Maybe, but I think even if Defoe is OK, VDV will get plenty of minutes this week.

1: Just Newcastle and Fulham that I consider as good DF sides which Spurs scored against on the road. Note that Fulham got midweek Europa in that week. I agree that Stoke looked very poor in November. But, in the last match, I think they improved and did better. It might be harder to score against them now.

2: Naylor is in my starting team now. It's between Dyer and Brown as my first sub. Should I move Brown up?

3: Agree with you about VDV.

... Would it be more safe to do VDV > Nani for a hit and have less Spurs to be worried?

              1. Spurs attack is much better than Everton's.

              2. I would, as I think Sunderland will be trying hard to impress the new boss and may keep a CS, although I realise that Blackburn have scored away from home easily enough. Or you could just leave Dyer and if he and Bale don't start you get Brown anyway?

Are you confident that Nani will outscore VDV by 4 points or more? I wouldn't be...

Hmm, so QPR have conceded 13 goals or something in their last 4 away games. Feeling tempted by a certain sweaty Dutchman -

    Vorm

    JE - Brown - N.Taylor

    Kuyt - Walters - Silva - Bale - Pilkman

    RVP (c) Ba

Kenny - Ade- Woodgate - Simpson

If Bale is out then Ade will come in. Boredom and cash in the bank are a bad combination.

I think Shawcross. If Bale doesn't play, he gets benefit of more chance for CS.

Also, I believe NUFC will concede and Simpson is far less attacking threat.

Both are likely to concede, play BAE and hope for attacking points.
