Romelu Lukaku breaks his six-month barren spell by taking it out on a beleaguered Sunderland back four. The Belgian’s second half blitz transformed Everton as Ross Barkley watched on from the bench having been hooked at half-time. Here’s the final Stock Check of Gameweek 4….

On the Rise

Romelu Lukaku
Without a goal in his previous 12 Premier League matches, Lukaku notched his first and then filled his boots as Sunderland caved in.

You could almost see the Belgian grown in stature and confidence and with Yannick Bolasie storming down the right flank, Lukaku was able to help himself to a hat-trick in just 11 minutes.

He could and should have had more – Lukaku registered nine efforts on goal, six of which hit the target – no player in any Gameweek this season has matched those statistics.

With Middlesbrough at home next, followed by meetings with Bournemouth and Palace, it would seem that Everton’s fearsome front man has found form just as the fixtures fall into his lap.

Should he return points against Boro, those who brought in Lukaku for Aguero may well face a difficult decision come Gameweek 6.

Yannick Bolasie
A barnstorming performance from the DR Congo winger terrorised the Sunderland defence which culminated in him laying on Lukaku’s second with a sublime run and cross.

While Bolasie’s 6.0 price tag looked a step too far at Palace, in this kind of form and with Lukaku converting his supply, it suddenly seems very tempting indeed.

The winger was replaced late on with a knock, although he appeared to be suffering from cramp.

Leighton Baines
Back to back clean sheets and two bonus points tonight, Baines is up and running without finding assists or converting a spot-kick as yet.

The aforementioned fixtures could offer further returns, with Koeman’s Everton looking far more secure and efficient than the version under Roberto Martinez.

In Decline

Ross Barkley
Koeman’s ruthless decision to hook an ineffective Barkley sent a sure-fire message that will have shook the midfielder’s 18.6% ownership.

Brought in by over 60,000 prior to Gameweek 4 ahead of Everton’s favourable schedule, it’s now clear that Barkley’s pitch time is far from secure – Koeman will not be as lenient as Martinez with an inconsistent Barkley.

Everton’s second half transformation without him certainly puts Barkley’s start against ‘Boro in doubt.

Mason Holgate
Owned by 7.1% and transferred in by no less than 180,000 FPL managers heading into the Gameweek, it nonetheless came as no surprise when the 19-year-old gave way to Seamus Coleman.

It was convenient while it lasted but Holgate’s opportunities will now be limited at best. Even if Koeman switches to a three-man defence, he would seem unlikely to earn starts.

Patrick van Aanholt
The Dutchman stuck to his guns against a lively Bolasie in the first half but bizarrely, with Bolasie swapping flanks, he struggled in the second 45.

Caught out of position on numerous occasions, he may yet come under threat, although Moyes’ options appear limited.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

That Everton 3rd goal was a joy to watch - even as a non Lukaku owner.

Best Terry replacement? Have DDG, Friend, Shaw, Amat, Paredes (awful defence I know)

Walker is 0.1 more than Terry, worth it? Or go for Stones at 0.5 less than Terry?

Williams (EVE) is best, i think, and gain .5 -- or Baines.

I'd avoid Walker. Spurs will begin rotating their fullbacks now that CL is here.

Stones is a decent shout, but he doesn't seem to have any attacking threat
so you are relying totally on clean sheets.

    Foster (Pickford)
    Baines Valencia Stones Holebas Amat
    DeBruyne Mane Antonio Snodgrass (Capoue)
    Kane Lukaku Benteke

    Foster / Jak

    Williams Stones Valenica (Kone, Friend)

    Alexis Antonio Hazard Barkley (capoue)

    Wilson Ibra Lukaku

Anything worth a hit in that lot? 0 itb.

    Already did Lamela >> Antonio.

Thinking Barkley > Lallana next week for pool fixtures.

Got to be Lukaku. Even though Kane is probably slightly the better option this week, Lukaku is a potential longer term option. Even if you're wildcarding next week, still better off getting him at a cheaper price

Its Sanchez + Snodgrass or Firmino + Cazorla. I like that Sanchez is a captaincy option over the coming weeks. RMT projections have Sanchez + Snodgrass to outscore Firmino + Cazorla even without captaincy

Already looking ahead to gw5 after a tough week. Comments appreciated:

    1) captain choices: lukaku, ibra, hazard or ozil? For more of a punt how about benteke against a shambolic stoke defence? (No Costa for me).

    2) how to fit in capoue with a mf of hazard Antonio sterling and ozil? Benteke lukaku ibra up front.

    Any ideas for my team?

    Foster Heaton
    Shaw Stones Souare* Friend Amat
    Hazard Sterling Cazorla Redmond Capoue
    Ibra Vardy Gray*

Players with a * I'm thinking of getting rid of.
I have 1FT and £3.5 ITB but ideally want to keep ~ 3.0 to do Vardy to Aguero when he's back if possible, otherwise ill have to use another transfer to downgrade someone or wildcard.

A : Iheanacho should continue to start whilst Kun is out. City are full of goals and he's been impressive every time he has played.

B : Dunno if Sane's return impacts Sterling's gametime but I'd be cautious. Unless Koeman comes out to say he has been dropped, he should start the next match. Had a bad game but could easily have ended with points.

C : Looks good on paper. Am guessing you'd want Kun back and Capoue frees up more funds right? I'd go with him over Snoddy.

But based on the options presented, I'd go with A. Would be surprised if he isn't among the attacking points next GW.

The more I think about this move the more I think it could be worth a -4 over the next 3 GWs:

Bolasie (MID,bou,CRY) in for Snodgrass (ARS,liv,CHE)

It won't cost me a hit now, but not banking the FT will mean taking an extra hit to get Aguero next week.

He might get some joy against the Liverpool defence, and Mignolet from set pieces, but don't fancy him vs. Arsenal. Hard to judge Chelsea, don't know who will replace Terry. But they have the players to be very solid.

But he did. He raised from 10.1 to 10.3. Still can only sell him at 10.1, not at 10.2.

Weird. When you sell him you will get 10.2m back, providing you did buy him at 10.1m.

I did, thats why it shows me 10.1 in "my team". Bought him on 16th august. When I click on him it correctly shows 10.3, which is his price right now. So if Im not mistaken, I should be able to sell him at 10.2.

that can't be right. if you bought him at 10.1, your sell value should be 10.2

What would it take over the next week or two to ditch Kun / Ibra and 'just' go with Kun (upon his return from suspension, obvs) ??

I'm toying with not now having both, having previoulsy been dead set on their double act

Not sure what to do, I have played my Wildcard and this is what I'm thinking of doing....

    A) Antonio, Lallana, Iheanacho & Shaw

    B) Antonio or Lallana, Shaw or Baines, Fer & Lukaku

    My Team at the minute...

    De Gea - Jakupovic
    Stones - Shaw - Walker - Smith - Byram
    Capoue - Sterling - Hazard - Antonio - Lallana
    Costa - Ibrahimovic - Iheanacho

Ok. After a horrendous week in which my my midfield of Lamela/Sanchez/Ozil and Barkely scored me 5 points I am thinking about panicing into a WC in GW 5.

    Looking at

    Heaton/Jaku
    Baines/Valencia/Evans/Friend/Amat
    Ozil/Firmino/Bolasie/Capoue/Antonio
    Ibra/Costa/Lukaku

Going to FT Ibra in GW 6/7 for Aguero or downgrade Ozil for Cazorla and then Costa for Aguero

    My concerns are:

No Tottenham cover in any department.
Could be left with no Chelsea cover

    Any thoughts on this?

    Cheers

    Bottomed

Already looking ahead to gw5 after a tough week. Comments appreciated:

    1) captain choices: lukaku, ibra, hazard or ozil? For more of a punt how about benteke against a shambolic stoke defence? (No Costa for me).

    2) how to fit in capoue with a mf of hazard Antonio sterling ozil. Benteke lukaku ibra up front

2 is my front 8 and I have a healthy defence? I don't understand the question?

1 : Too early to call IMO. Kane & Lukaku standout options for me.

2 : You can't have them all unfortunately, but gun to head, Sterling or Ozil? The latter consistently ticks along with assist points but Capoue presents a much better value if he continues scoring. Sterling however is playing for a CIty side that will score goals for fun, only reason I include him is because of sharing possible gametime with Sane.

    Foster (Pickford)
    Valencia Baines Collins (Pieters Amat)
    Hazard Ozil Sterling Antonio (Capoue)
    Ibra Lukaku Benteke

My original Aguero plan was Sterling to a 4.5, promoting Capoue to 4th mid, Lukaku to Aguero.

On the plus side I'm more comfortable than ever with Capoue being 4th mid, many here are coming round to it after being laughed at last week.

On the downside how the hell do I get rid of Lukaku now? Perhaps Sterling to a 4.5, Ozil to Cazorla and Benteke to Aguero for a -4 instead?

Thoughts? Anyone else's Aguero plan been thrown into disarray already?

i'm in almost that exact boat.

i am going to let week 5 play out, bank the FT, and see what develops . . . someone could get hurt,
or benched . . . Lukaku could blank and look terrible . . . a lot can happen in a week.

no decisions need to be made now.

Can't believe how bad Sunderland were, I wasn't previously looking at Kane - But after a Sunderland performance like that, he is hard to ignore.

Yeah, I don't see anyone capable of driving this bus. Even someone like the clanger prone Kaboul is a loss to them at the back.

It was an uncharacteristic attacking performance. They were much more solid against City and Dortmund

I think they will shut up shop against Spurs away
