A busy Sunday of football comes to its conclusion at White Hart Lane as Spurs and Sunderland go head-to-head in the 4.30pm kick-off.

The hosts’ 4-0 win over Stoke last weekend boosted out faith in the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli, yet their midweek Champions League loss to Monaco at Wembley suggests Mauricio Pochettino’s side have yet to hit top gear.

Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela owners are left cursing their luck after the duo were named amongst the subs, with Mousa Dembele returning to the XI following a six-match suspension.

Certainly, the home side will be buoyed by their visitors’ second-half capitulation at home to Everton on Monday night.

The Black Cats have yet to win under David Moyes and, considering their current form, may well be lucky to avoid a repeat of the 4-1 reverse in the corresponding fixture last season.

Seeing the fruits of this ownership tactic I'm using now

3 green arrows, the only 1 red arrow was down like 7k places

      What's the tactic?

        9 years, 4 months ago

You get 7 highly owned players and 4 differentials. This means if the highly owned players don't do well it won't hurt because many others have them. Then your differentials can come and save you, but if not it's no bother

The tactic stays with the pack, yet tries to go higher than the pack at the same time. Many people just kill their team with 10 differentials and 1 "essential" pick and that's dangerous.

I did a bad job of explaining but you get the idea

It's too defensive for my liking. I think it's a good strategy for reaching the top 10k but if you want to go higher you've got to pick the best differentials or be more proactive than others. Constraining yourself because of ownership % isn't the way to win FPL.

My English wasn't clear in the post above. I meant that for his strategy to succeed he needs the best differentials and great captain choices. I think you've got more chance of getting to the top by taking larger risks and getting players before they have high ownership.

Oh right, I see your point now. He generally says keep captain picks simple and go with the most popular choice.

Once you get to the top 10k taking risks, you're much more likely to lose it just as quick as you got there (speaking from experience).

I recommend ready Matt's article about it because it explains it much better than me: https://matthewmartyniak.wordpress.com/

Go to the consistency is key part

That strategy will be very good at maintaining a top 10k place but most people up there know what they are doing so you have to look harder for differentials to gain an edge.

but wont that be difficult to keep up with in terms of transfers, coz once the WC is used up and lets say Ibra and Hazard before next week face massive transfer outs then ?

I'll take Ibra out for the next highly owned player that I like

Ibra won't fall much in ownership. The max I'd say is down to 40% and that's reaching. Still extremely high ownership

    5. Jamie_GAWA
      • 9 Years
      9 years, 4 months ago

I'd rather ignore ownership and pick the players I think do will do best.

That tactic only really works if there is lots of player highly owned which there isn't.

I think it's more the fact that the highly owned players are doing well rather than your tactic being good.

      1. PvA
        • 9 Years

        Not my tactic.

Coutinho, Hazard Capoue literally have twice the ownership of Sanchez, De Bruyne and Sterling

You saying "That tactic only really works if there is lots of player highly owned which there isn't" is crazy.

Get Aguero in and Capoue 4th mid

Both highly owned players to get that 7/4 ratio back

Will see to my differentials after next week hopefully. Not happy with Redmond atm

Interesting tactic. I'm trying to do the same with captaincy by owning the top 3-4 big hitters and then going with a premium differential with a nice fixture.

Aguero will likely end this to some extent if the masses drop Zlatan and Aguero becomes the autocaptain.

        • 9 Years

Never heard of that tactic, seems logical as you're covering your bases

Would be tough to go against Aguero like you said

Once EO gets over say 125% for either one it will be hard, but for a few glorious weeks owning both and captaining someone else was a fun way to play.

I never play with (c) choice because it is possible to end in tears and there is a very fine line. I enjoyed getting Payet in who I considered a differential in the last 2 weeks

    How's this WC looking?

    Foster - Jaku
    Holebas - J. Evans - Kelly - Amat - 4.0
    Sanchez - Capoue - Antonio - Sterling - Barry
    Ibra - Costa - Kun

The defense is lightweight but a lot of heavy hitters up front. I think it's silly to go without Ibra just because Man Utd. have had a bad couple of weeks, he will consistently score goals. Costa has also been incredibly consistent although there is the YC issue. Not sure why all the fuss about Firmino, yes Liverpool are scoring a lot of goals but his underlying stats aren't that great.

Sully, did you go through with you moves of Ibra + Hazard > Aguero + Firmino?

just i'm looking at the exact same moves, confident this is good? feels right surely doesn't it?

Will leave it as late as possible to pull the trigger but yeah, that's the firm plan atm.

Makes sense to me. Could easily argue it's an upgrade on both counts given Chelsea/Liverpool fixtures.

Cool cheers man, yeah i agree, it's a tough choice between Firm or Mane for me, was it price that made you choose Mane or would you of opted for Mane if money allowed? Firmino the better choice regardless ya reckon?

  21. Still Unsure
      9 years, 4 months ago

      What would you do?

      A) Ozil, Lamela, Lukaku -> Sterling, Snoddy, Kun
      B) Ozil, Lamela, Ibra -> Sterling, Firmino, Kun
      C) Hazard, Lamela, Ibra -> Sterling, Mane, Kun

Options A&B leave me with no Arsenal coverage. A also means no Everton coverage. In C Mane could also be Firmino - haven't decided on those two yet.

Need a 4.4 defender. At Watford, who would be the better option?

      A) Zuniga
      B) Britos

Zuniga has playes 28 minutes all season, so Britos may be the better pick if you want a playing defender 😀

Missed the first KDB rise 🙁

Assuming both Nacho and KDB' prices rise tonight, which one is more likely to rise by another 0.1 again by Saturday?

KDB I think. Kun's red flag being removed should stem the flow of Iheanacho transfers.

        KDB surely

KDB rising at 4.8 %/h, Iheanacho at 3.0 %/h - both set to rise tonight. So it seems would be KDB. But wild carders muddying the picture

I'm actually thinking about getting an Arsenal defender. Their fixtures get better after Chelsea, but the downside is that they are too expensive.

Holebas, Spurs defender, WBA defender, Everton defender and Amat.
For goalkeepers either Foster + Pickford or Jaku + Pickford.

Iheanacho set to rise tonight, and I have no idea why.

Buzzing to take my .1 though and ditch.

Damn 0.1 off this tasty move 🙁

Ibra Hazard Snodgrass --> Aguero Sterling Firmino (-4)

Is Coutinho a good alternative to Firmino (want a pool mid)

Quite like Snodgrass. I'd drop him > Sterling out of that equation. Sterling is a quality pick but always vulnerable to some rotation given their options.

yeap snod is a good option.and will give points consistently.

but sterling or firmino has higher points ceiling and explosive potential
