Dugout Discussion – Tottenham vs Sunderland

A busy Sunday of football comes to its conclusion at White Hart Lane as Spurs and Sunderland go head-to-head in the 4.30pm kick-off.

The hosts’ 4-0 win over Stoke last weekend boosted out faith in the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli, yet their midweek Champions League loss to Monaco at Wembley suggests Mauricio Pochettino’s side have yet to hit top gear.

Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela owners are left cursing their luck after the duo were named amongst the subs, with Mousa Dembele returning to the XI following a six-match suspension.

Certainly, the home side will be buoyed by their visitors’ second-half capitulation at home to Everton on Monday night.

The Black Cats have yet to win under David Moyes and, considering their current form, may well be lucky to avoid a repeat of the 4-1 reverse in the corresponding fixture last season.

        Agree with this, would never spend -8.
        Spurs are at Middlesborough and Kane may have got into scoring mode now after his Sunderland goal. Hazard and Sanchez are equally likely to get points in the Arsenal v Chelsea fixture, imo. With that kind of uncertainty, wouldn't spend -8.

    What a shame about Benteke. He was almost a dead cert for my CW team, but 4 goals and not one shot by him. Not good!

      Do you already have him? I do, and was considering ditching on WC, but I'm a Sunderland fan & he has a stupidly good record against us (something like 6/7 goals) so I'm keeping for one more week.

    Looking at the fixtures and form I'm starting to think I should build my WC team around Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City, Everton and Watford.

    This could amount to something like this:

    Pickford Jakupovic
    Coleman Lovren Holebas Friend Amat
    Sanchez Firmino Sterling Antonio Capoue
    Agüero Lukaku Deeney

    Pretty happy with that side but Capoue as a 5th mid is a bit of a pain. Also ideally I'd like an Arsenal defender or Cech too.

    Ibra and Aguero or just Aguero - why?

      Aguero. I just don't think Ibra is good enough for 11.5m because he isn't an amazing captain choice like Aguero is.

      Mourinho's teams typically focus on keeping clean sheets and winning 2-0 therefore to be a successful FPL player in one of these teams they have to be involved in a high percentage of goals and a bonus hog. Costa on the other hand scored lots of goals but was rubbish in terms of BPS therefore he wasn't scoring the amount of points needed to be a good captain in the large majority of games. I think Ibra is similar to Costa in this regard.

          His ownership is only a problem when he does really well. I just believe there are much better value options out there and you can spend the £11.5m a lot more efficiently to make up for those rare occasions.
