Dugout Discussion – Tottenham vs Sunderland

A busy Sunday of football comes to its conclusion at White Hart Lane as Spurs and Sunderland go head-to-head in the 4.30pm kick-off.

The hosts’ 4-0 win over Stoke last weekend boosted out faith in the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli, yet their midweek Champions League loss to Monaco at Wembley suggests Mauricio Pochettino’s side have yet to hit top gear.

Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela owners are left cursing their luck after the duo were named amongst the subs, with Mousa Dembele returning to the XI following a six-match suspension.

Certainly, the home side will be buoyed by their visitors’ second-half capitulation at home to Everton on Monday night.

The Black Cats have yet to win under David Moyes and, considering their current form, may well be lucky to avoid a repeat of the 4-1 reverse in the corresponding fixture last season.

    Big headache whether to go with 4 big hitting mids + Capoue on WC. But surely Capoue i 4th mid material now , especially with those fixtures coming up.

    Sanchez - Sterling - Firmino - Antonio - Capoue
    Aguero - Lukaku - Ibra

    Sanchez, Aguero and Capoue set in stone, but who loses out in above front 8 (yes, it's over budget)

        This WC thing.. Many are getting potential double risers to get a better TV. If I for example would get KDB for a potential double rise and anyway sell him before deadline to get the extra .1, but I rather want to have Mane than KDB who I bought for 8.9 (now 9.0). Should I get KDB for a double rise and then sell to mane? If yes, I would loose my .1 I bought him cheaper for?

          If you bought Mane at 8.9, and sell then buy him back at £9.0, yes you will lose £0.1. If you buy KDB, he gets a double rise, and you then sell him on, you will only profit £0.1. Zero sum game.

          Am in the same boat with my forwards, and I will have to avoid chasing the double risers so I don't screw up my original prices. Right now, my midfielders are showing no profit so I can chase value on those.

        Should I do:

        a) Gray, Barkley, Azpilicueta --> Aguero, Snodgrass, Smith (-8)

        b) Use WC

        Everyone will laugh at this, but the front 6 looks magical. Fooling around with Capoue as 4th mid WC drafts and landed on this one:

        Pickford-Jak
        Evans- Stones OR Lovren - Holebas - Amat - Kingsley
        Sanchez - Sterling - Firmino - Capoue - 4.5M
        Aguero - Ibra - Lukaku

        If you believe that Aguero, Ibra, Lukaku will finish 1-2-3 in golden boot race (I do), and that Sanchez won't be far behind fighting Costa, Kane and others, then you basically have the top 4 FPL scorers and can ride Capoue for a few weeks and get rid then.

        Clean sheets, defensive points are a huge issue, but I have had Valencia and Stones - two expensive players, and not received much this season. Still have Evans and Stones OR Lovren and fixtures for Holebas for next 5 weeks.

        Can always downgrade a top attacker and upgrade defender or midfielder with 2 FTs in a few weeks if necessary. VERY short term view - 5 weeks max (look at Watford fixtures) but interesting nonetheless..

        Another option is ANTONIO (don't love him, but he does score) instead of Sterling and upgrade back four with that extra 1M.
