We’ve now launched our latest captain poll to canvas your opinion on the likely favourites and differential options for the armband in Gameweek 6.

You can find the poll in the middle column of the homepage or at the bottom of the same page on mobile.

Remember, we are looking for your vote for the player you think will be most effective, regardless of whether you own them or not.

With 17 players earning double-digit Fantasy Premier League points hauls in Gameweek 5 there is already an abundance of choice for the captaincy.

That selection gets even tougher this Gameweek when early season armband favourite Sergio Aguero (12.9) returns from a three-match suspension to travel to Swansea. With three goals in as many Premier League games and Manchester City looking unstoppable as an attacking force, the Argentine is nailed on to be among the poll favourites.

For the 76% of FPL managers without Aguero his team-mates, Raheem Sterling (8.4) and Kevin De Bruyne (10.7), offer strong alternative options. The midfield duo have five goals and seven assists between them this season.

One of Gameweek 5’s double-figure FPL wonders, Romelu Lukaku (9.3), could even snatch a lead over Aguero, on the back of four goals in the last two games. The Belgian travels to a Bournemouth side that has conceded the most “big chances” in so far. Lukaku, who has the most shots on target over the last two matches, has been drafted in by 66,660 FPL managers since Saturday.

Liverpool’s midfield offers a raft of viable captaincy candidates this week.

Robert Firmino (8.4), Sadio Mane (9.0) and Philippe Coutinho (8.1), all have two goals and an assist each already and host a Hull City side that tops the goal attempts conceded both in and out of the box tables. Of that trio, Coutinho is the most owned in FPL, with 27.9 managers showing faith in him.

For those looking to take a risk a side in form, Watford offers a series of candidates ahead of their visit to Burnley: they’ve claimed just one clean sheet this season.

Etienne Capoue (4.9), the surprise leading FPL points scorer and top owned midfielder, has four goals already and will surely be promoted from the bench to many Fantasy managers’ first XI this Gameweek.

In attack, Troy Deeney (6.9)’s penalty-taking prowess could be tempting as could Odion Ighalo (7.3)’s resurgent form. The Nigerian has fired off more goal attempts than Diego Costa and Alexis Sanchez over the last two Gameweeks.

A special mention also goes to last Gameweek’s poll leader Zlatan Ibrahomovic (11.9), who has shed more than 51,000 FPL managers this week following Manchester United’s lacklustre display against Watford.

The big Swede, who has the most goal attempts of any striker over the last two Gameweeks, will be hoping to add to his four goals and assist  this term when champions Leicester City drop in on Old Trafford.

The only player to match Ibrahimovic’s goal attempt tally over the last two Gameweeks is Michail Antonio (7.3), who looks another strong armband candidate when Southampton visit the Olympic Stadium on Sunday.

Antonio’s 14% owned West Ham team-mate Dimitri Payet (9.4) is another to consider, after notching an impressive four assists in the last two Gameweeks.

We will be back to check in on progress in the poll later this week, as we deliver our “Captain Sensible” article offering our view of the results and the statistics behind the leading contenders.

Didn't see it as an option, but agreed it would be handy to have there.

Unfortunately would need to drop one of the other columns to add it in as 10 is the max though, but wouldn't want to lose anything there for mins. played as that's easy enough to look up.

So tough, but had to be done... With not even 2 million in the bank, I flogged Zlatan for Kun Kun... Maybe a risk, maybe not... But I'm reasonably assured of my remaining players being up to the task, and Utd are more miss than hit right now (Zlatan scoring or assisting all the time is reminiscent of Aguero scoring once and seeing 0 BPs most of last season).

My biggest doubt was whether to do Lamela>Antonio or Lallanna, and eventually opted for Antonio, just for the number of shots stats (he shoots a lot more than Lallanna).

      Heaton (Jaku)
      Shaw-Stones-McAuley (Morgan, Friend)
      Alexis-Antonio-Redmond-Capoue (Behrami)
      Ibra-Kun-Lukaku

What do you think of this team? Brutal truth only.

If redmond was bolasie that would be my front 7 on a wildcard so not bad. My back five are kos/williams/stones/holebas/amat. So if you are on a wildcard i wouldnt have manu west brom or middlesborough defenders as they have tough fixtures over the next 10

If you had this squad, what would be your main priority to put right:

      Foster | Pickford
      Walker | Shaw | McAuley | Friend | Amat
      Hazard | Firmino | Mirallas | Redmond | Capoue
      Aguero | Ibra | Benteke

Hazard, Mirallas and Redmond. Nearest bin.

eventually it would be to ditch Redmond, and maybe Mirallas. Also, no Arsenal mid (read, Alexis) would worry me.

Hazard to Antonio, Tekkers to Lukaku.
Don't mind Mirallas or Redmond myself. Good fixtures for Everton and Redmond was singled out for praise last night on MOTD as to how well he is playing.

        Cheers all.

I also think Mirallas and Redmond are main priorities.

Other issue is from week 8 Shaw has some horrible looking fixtures and Arsenal have two decent games so was thinking Shaw > Arsenal defender.

Is it alright to do a -8? Can i get some advice please:

          Current team (24K rank):

          Heaton / Pickford
          Williams / Valencia / Baines / Collins / Amat
          Sanchez / Hazard / Anotonio / Capoue / Puncheon
          Nacho / Ibra / Benteke

          £2.9 ITB (1FT)

          For a -8:

Haz. Ibra, Nacho ==>> Firmino, Lukaku, Kun

I was listening on the radio, I didn't expect Snodgrass to take it, but as I've got him I was ecstatic when he put it away. Average gameweek to a decent one.

It's the old FPL Players mantra. When I do well it's skill - when I do badly it's luck.

This too. The unpalatable truth - and I know this isn't going to be a popular view - is that FPL is nothing more than Bingo with Footballers. While we like to see ourselves as technical geniuses the standard of Guardiola and Mourinho, we are sadly more akin to the blue-rinse old grannies that sit and wait and watch and hope our numbers come up. I have accepted that and, as such, can never really get annoyed with FPL. I love it - what else could make me tolerate and, to some extent, even enjoy watching Palace vs Stoke?

I see what you are saying but with bingo you get handed a pre printed random card oh and usually some old dear pops her clogs three seats away. Which hasn't happened to me yet

That's what I'm thinking, looks great in attack and with Watfords good fixture run I'm tempted to take a punt.

Gg. Used my WC. Is it a really bad move? I panicked this morning, Haz price dropping.

But, still have 2.6m for Ibra or Hazard later on. Blessing in disguise?

I made a similar bet in the summer, before the Wales vs. Belgium game - my mates were confident and said we had a chance of winning. I said we've already done ourselves proud, but I can't see us beating Belgium and said I'd get a Welsh dragon tattoo if we did.

Sure enough, big red dragon tattoo on my chest now.
