West Ham’s dire form shows no sign of abating, as Southampton march into the London Stadium and take three points, with Charlie Austin amongst the goals once again. Here’s the Stock Check from Sunday’s encounter….

On the Rise

Charlie Austin
Having scored four goals in the previous three across all competitions, the Saints striker was granted a second Premier League start of the season by Claude Puel. Austin vindicated that decision with the opener and also supplied the assist for Dusan Tadic’s goal; he is clearly in the midst of a hot streak right now.

With Leicester City, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool in the next six, though, the fixtures are hardly in his favour.

Dusan Tadic
After a slow start to the season, the Serbian continues to build momentum. Tadic opened the campaign with a trio of blanks but has since served up points in each of the subsequent three. Assists against Arsenal and Swansea City were followed up with an ice-cool finish against the Hammers as the Saints chalked up a fourth straight win in all competitions.

Ryan Bertrand and Cedric Soares
It’s back-to-back clean sheets for the Saints in the Premier League after keeping out Swansea City last weekend. Ryan Bertrand earned his first attacking points of the season with an assist for Austin’s goal, while Cedric Soares mirrored his fellow full-back for bonus with two apiece.

The duo have now served up 18 and 17 points respectively in the last couple of Gameweeks as Puel’s approach finally takes hold.

In Decline

Dimitri Payet
Much was expected of the Hammers today, from what was the first of four home matches in six. While Michail Antonio’s kinder price may persuade some to hold ahead of visits from Middlesbrough, Stoke City and Sunderland, the premium priced Payet may well be seen as surplus to requirements. Yet to score in the league so far, he has been subject to more transfers out than any midfielder this term and that trend may well continue in light of today’s uninspiring display.

Michail Antonio
Antonio’s stock also takes a dent following the tactical tweaks from Slaven Bilic. With the Hammers chasing the game, Bilic replaced Håvard Nordtveit with striker Ashley Fletcher on 71 minutes. Antonio was then shifted to become an attacking right-back – a move which could become familiar should West Ham find themselves in a similar scenario again. Given their form, that seems likely.

James Collins
The Welshman’s run in West Ham’s first XI came to an end after he dropped out of the squad today. Having started each of the first five, Collins – who rose to 9% ownership in FPL – was clearly earmarked as the fall guy, with Winston Reid returning to partner Angelo Ogbonna at centre-half. Today’s capitulation may well force another rethink, though – the Hammers have now shipped 14 goals in the last four.

I want Lallana (for Antonio) and Son (for Cazorla) in the next 2 GW. Should I save the transfers and get both after the international break or get Lallana this weekend and then Son after?

I had Payet down as a season keeper, but may need to have a rethink.
WH are shockingly poor for whatever reason, surely the new stadium can't have that much of a negative effect on a team that were pretty damn good last season?

Not as silly as getting rid of players after one or two blanks though! But, yeah, I do somewhat agree, there will be a lot of chopping and changing (particularly in the midfield) this season I reckon.

I'd happily sit out two blanks if a) fixtures look good b) the players form and stats defies the output.

I hear what you're saying though.

My gripe is that there is no way of knowing injuries, team form, individual form, January transfer movements.

Hypothetically speaking if Baines out this week which seems a possibility and Amat would come in would you take a hit to get Blind against Stoke. Would surely recoup the hit and attacking potential vs Stoke. Man U fans saying he has to play even if Shaw comes back possibly OOP DM

I wouldn't based my move on some random Man U fans.

i'd rather AOA with Capoue and deal with Baines during the int break. I've a feeling he'll play anyway

Last season Payet was playing for his spot in the French team, and
enjoying the challenge of the premier league.
Now its finished, rumours he wanted to move in summer but because of
his age nobody wanted to pay big bucks.
Bored now, nothing much to play for, has gone as far as he can with
W Ham and is just going through the motions

    Fair assessment?

Is anyone tempted by Mata? We all know his quality. With Rooney out of the team it's his chance to make the no 10 spot his own.

Tempted but wary, I want Mourinho to lock down the team first. Rooney can easily come back in.

I am, actually. But does that spell bad things for Rashford?

If he nails down a regular spot, he'll be the first mid on my team. On par with Sanchez in terms of points potential IMO

If fit, will Shaw come back in the team, or will Mourinho think it was better without him?

Love this forum. Am a very broke uni student at the moment but literally spend hours on this, was a member last year and it was very helpful but a man gotta pay bills namsayin? Save those pennies and one day you'll have that little members badge next to your name which means so much

With Arsenal having such great fixtures, anyone doubling up with Sanchez?

Walcott is almost guaranteed to be in my team after next week if he plays and Antonio fails. Would love him and Lallana
