The final fixture of Gameweek 9 sees us pay visit to Stamford Bridge, where Chelsea entertain former manager Jose Mourinho and Man United at 4pm.

The home side have chalked up two straight wins and clean sheets since Antonio Conte switched to a 3-4-3 formation, defeating Hull and Leicester in consecutive Premier League fixtures.

Diego Costa is the Blues’ main threat, having scored or assisted in seven of the Blues’ first eight fixtures.

The Spain international sits just one booking short of a single-match suspension, though it’s worth noting that a caution today would see him sit out the midweek EFL Cup clash with West Ham and free him up to face Southampton in Gameweek 10.

Those who have held onto Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be hoping for signs of a return to form, bearing in mind the Reds then host Burnley next weekend.

The Swede – who is the second most-captained player for Gameweek 9 – has plummeted in price to 11.3 after scoring just one goal in his previous six league outings.

Am on 531pts at 2k OR, it's still very tight, a good captaincy choice can fly you up the leagues.

Thats true..been punting on captains for sometime now to reach there..but even punts return with normal points !

Btw, your team looks great..with those allen points u benched in GW 8 you would have been floating in the top 1k now

Thanks, have had some punty captain picks, Payet then Hazard then Payet.

When they work you shoot up the leagues if the usual Kun, Alexis, and Wally picks fail.

Just a case of sticking with your gut sometimes.

Was feeling confident, great team on paper, loads of home games and players in form...

    Dropped 200k to 800k.

Yes a very disappointing GW. My team looked incredible on paper too. Seems to happen so often.
I have 8 away from home next GW but against very winnable opponents, so I'm quietly confidant, I'm sure you're in the same boat.
      Not a time for hits..

Any reasons not to bring in Francies (4.5) from Bournemouth?

Want to bring one from them in, but only got 4.6 to spend so others are off the cards - anyone know of any reasons not to bring him in?

I had Francis GW1, got rid on WC and got Smith a couple weeks ago at 4.6m. Francis has lowest attacking potential but is pretty good at baps if none of the others get attacking returns

Any thoughts on keeping Hazard please ?

Have had since GW1 and so have had to take 0.2 price hit and have always been hopeful on holding onto him with him doing well and so increases getting back to 10.0 PP

Recent form is good however all his points have come at home (which is why I held for last 2 games). Next 5 fixtures look tricky with maybe only Everton at home looking promising.

Got 2FT and other mids are Walcott, Payet, Ozil and Allen .

Noticed Courtino is gonna rise tonight so thinking Hazard to Courtino (am aware of risk with fizzy pop fixtures this week), seem sensible ?

He played like Aguero...ooney, if you know what I mean. Dropping deep, not making runs into the box. It was hard to watch given he was my captain.

      1. Differentiator
        • 10 Years

He also played like Kane when Spurs aren't getting the ball to him. Striker drops deep to gain possession, but gives up most of their goal threat.

Absolutely no-one from City came out from that game with boosted credentials. (well, maybe Kompany for not limping off after 15 mins).

        1. Dr Dream
          • 13 Years

In Aguero's case it's the tactics of the manager...not just the fact he needs to get in the game.

      2. Dr Dream
        • 13 Years
        9 years, 2 months ago

That's the Pep effect... demanding that he plays as part of a front six closing down defenders and mids instead of being "Aguero".

This isn't going to end well.

        1. fedolefan
          • 11 Years

Aguero got a booking out wide near the half way line for chasing some one down. Insane really. Some of these managers make everything about themselves, in that, they ruin their best assets.

            • 13 Years

Pep is trying to play like Liverpool...it won't work with the players they have. They've always been a bit half hearted at closing down..

There is some worrying logic to this. A bit like Sturridge issue (albeit better player ).

Thing is Liverpool could sell Sturridge and be JusTified given his injury issues. You can't sell Aguero.

Really poor, no shots on target in first half, dropped much deeper in second half with Iheanacho leading attacks, unnecessary YC for a mid-pitch tackle, overall City wasn't really there for this game

  18. Krul Runnings

    This weeks decision is:

    A.) Keep Sterling

Advantages - keeps FT in hand in case of injuries midweek. Could do well in next 2 fixtures.
Disadvantages - Cout may well be 0.2 more expensive if I end up making the switch later. Not as influential for city as Cout is for Pool.

B.) Sell Sterling & Buy Coutinho

Advantages - Cout will rise 0.2 this week. Prefer Cout as an option.
Disadvantages - Had planned to save FT. Will leave me double doubled in midfield - Sanchez wally Firm Cout which perhaps lacks balance. Potential for rest in GW12 after only arriving back 24hrs before Southmpton game.

Tough one. Think I'm going to end up gritting my teeth and holding Sterling. GW11 looks like lots of the 'template' has tough fix so 2FT could be handy.

Keeping for as long as he'll have me. I love the big fella.

He's more nailed in my team than either of Aguero or Costa...

Keeping Benteke for at least the Liverpool game. Tekkers is great in the air; Liverpool are not. I do plan to downgrade him eventually, though.

I'm stuck on this one, considering deeney or if I'm feeling really brave at the time of the transfer maybe Bony. Surely he will score now that Stokes form has turned.

Question - do teams care that much about EFL? Do the midweek games this week make anyone subject to rotation? Concerned about Son's minutes after his performance this week.

Some will try, others play reserves. Best chance to win a trophy.

Think those without Europe will try hard so Liverpool and Chelsea.

Spurs won't want to lose to Liverpool.

Likewise neither Manchester clubs will want to play weaken teams against each other with both managers under a lot of pressure right now.

Arsenal will play the under 14's v Reading and still probably win.

After another difficult weekend I'm at a loss as to what to do with my team this week... Any suggestions? Or should I just leave it for a double change after next GW:

    Pickford, Jaku
    Walker, Holebas, Pieters, Amat, Evans
    Sanchez, Stirling, Walcott, Firmino, Capoue
    Aguero, Lukaku, Deeney

1FT £0.3m ITB. One of my main concerns is the non starting Jaku forcing me to play Pickford playing Arsenal next weekend.

Pickford should get a raft of save points at least. Hard to pick out a clean sheet for toffee, so just stick IMO.

Son --> Coutinho for free and remain stuck with Rashford (good fixture next but hasn't been close to scoring as of late...)?

I'm looking to get Austin for Rashford next week.... Austin will have tough time scoring against Chelsea anyway, and after that it's Hull which should be a great fixture, then home to Liverpool/Everton which isn't ideal but both haven't had many clean sheets, and then great fixtures after that.

I will drop either Son or Rashford.... I'm thinking drop Son because I can buy Coutinho in that case and Son only played 60mins and looked very phlegmatic against Bournemouth... Rashford has Burnley next and who knows he might even score, and anyway I'm looking to replace him with Austin who has Chelsea next, so better do that transfer next week.

          1. Worzel Gummidge

Think we are all confused regarding Liverpool's attack.

How do you think their midfielders will end the season in order of points scored and why?

This is not my order - merely pointing out main reason to back.

        A. Firmino - Front of the attack, usually in on the action. Should have more goals TBH based on his performances. Could nad should have scored v Utd and WBA.
        B. Coutinho - consistently doing well. Dangerous even when he doesn't get returns (ie. v Utd).
        C. Mané - lightning quick, seems to be a "homebird", with 3 of his 4 goals at Anfield.
        D. Lallana - Klopp loves him, brimming with confidence. Tricky player, usually involved in the attack and an eye for goal.
        E. Milner - could be a surprise, with penalties in his locker (he's pretty solid at them too).

I think people are seriously underestimating Lala. I think he will keep up with the others and he has so far in less minutes with exception of Couts points today.

Firm Cout & Mane all to be close points wise IMO.

Lallana not far behind, Milner not far behind him, still with a decent haul.
