Harry Kane has shown perfect timing.

On the day that saw Sergio Aguero and Romelu Lukaku frustrate 40% of Fantasy Premier League managers, the Spurs striker stepped up to deliver a first double-figure haul and underline his undeniable potential as a game-changer.

Five goals in his last four Premier League starts, albeit broken up by a spell on the sidelines, indicates that Kane is riding a flow of form that can now see him break up the established template in attack.

A prolific Jermain Defoe and Charlie Austin’s improving fixtures will likely ensure that we retain a mid-price option as a third striker – dismissing the idea of squeezing Kane alongside our present heavy hitters.

That will put the heat on Aguero and Lukaku.

The latter went into Gameweek 12 having already seen his increase in ownership slow following his Stamford Bridge blank. Today’s 2-point return, with 11% backing him with the armband, will no doubt spark sales and, in all likelihood, a first decline in the Belgian’s ownership since Gameweek 3.

It’s difficult to gain confidence from Everton’s schedule.

A trip to a resilient Southampton follows for Gameweek 13, with Goodison Park encounters with Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool to follow in the next four.

Lukaku is capable of scoring points in those matches, but can he keep pace with a resurgent Kane?

Despite those doubts, the pressure on Aguero is perhaps even more intense given his price tag, the doubt generated by Guardiola’s tinkering and the seemingly relentless stream of points being delivered by Kevin De Bruyne.

We were ready to fall at Aguero’s feet following his emphatic Hawthorns haul but, two Gameweeks on, the doubts are creeping back.

He let down 29% of FPL managers with the captaincy today and that, against the backdrop of Kane’s brace, will ruffle feathers.

The fee demanded by the Argentine guarantees that we will constantly be fidgeting – he almost has to deliver a goal a game and assure us of consistent returns in order to cement the captaincy and earn his keep.

Turf Moor offers a foreboding venue for Aguero to restore confidence next weekend. Following that, Guardiola’s side will take on Chelsea – Aguero will likely have to earn his opportunities against the Blues’ newly robust defence.

Meanwhile, Kane offers home fixtures with Swansea City, Hull City and Burnley to follow the Gameweek 13 trip to Stamford Bridge.

It’s a scenario that looks perfectly staged.

We bank our transfers, give Lukaku or Aguero next weekend’s run-out and then take action in Gameweek 14 should they falter.

Those trading Aguero can then distribute the significant funds spared – perhaps to consider De Bruyne as a reassuringly expensive midfield option.

Regardless of our current thinking – the masses will now be circling Kane.

With an ownership of just 6%, he provides a potential route back for those managers treading water – a genuinely explosive differential that can be trusted with the armband for that trio of tempting White Hart Lane fixtures.

Those trailing mini-leagues surely have to consider the move, but it’s an unwelcome development for those streaking ahead and settled with a midfield and forward line template. Kane can be a disruptive force that can punish those that sit still.

The bandwagon is moving, and if Costa is the next to slip off the suspension tightrope at the Riverside Stadium, we will need to brace ourselves for some major acceleration.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Yeah, I was always in this camp. It's undeniable this season though that he's less important to City. 12 games is a big enough sample - being outscored by Lukaku and Defoe speaks volumes.

      Hard to say
Seems like you made a major punt
Stoke are on and off , they have a great squad on paper too so expect the points to be spread between Shaqiri , bojan , Allen , bony and Arnie . I think you might want to look elsewhere after the next 2 games if he doesn't get you atleast a goal .

Zlatan, finally. Lost 0 4m in value. But hey we live and learn.

Aguero to Kane would be a tough pill to swallow for me personally if I was in your position. However a combination of KDB and Kane does sound appealing.

KDB looks good enough to cover him too. Question is whether to stick with 343 or go to 352 if we lose Kun

Currently 352 seems to have better value, but that may just be due to the fixtures this week. It's always changing.

I can't and keep my midfield and Alonso at the back. My midfield is Hazard, Walcott, Coutinho and Firmino.

I'm not changing that and I can't get KDB in there either - don't see a candidate to drop. You can say Walcott but I got him for 7.5 and, for me, that's still great value given fixtures, even with Cazorla being missed.

For me, I can carry Lukaku but Aguero's fixtures compared to Kane are polar opposite and the trade would allow me to also maybe get a fit again Toby for those three home matches to partner Alonso at the back. That would look strong and keep me 2 trades away from getting Aguero back, perhaps for GW20.

That's my current scenario - will likely change but I quite fancy it as of this morning 😉

I have the exact same midfield. Its doable. Here's my wc team

            Pickford 4M
            Alonso Cedric Pieters Evans 3.9
Theo Firm Cout Haz De Roon
            Kun Kane Austin

              I see but I'd have

              Heaton Pick
              Alonso Toby McAuley Holebas Amat
              Haz Walcott Firm Cout Capoue
              Lukaku Kane Defoe

              Plus 1+m in bank

That gives me a bench to absorb Xmas rotation. Kane can captain 14, 16 and 17 with Firimino/Cout possibly in 15.

I can get Aguero back in 2 steps when I need to.

It gives me no City for the next 5 GW's but, as mentioned, their fixtures are tough - check the members ticker attacking ratings.

KDB replaces Aguero. Better PPG, better injury record and cheaper. If the argument of captain potential of aguero comes up, in games where both featured at 60 mins
        KDB - 2 blanks in 9
        Kun - 4 blanks in 9

I'd even push for kdb as the better captain choice since he can be explosive himself

But who makes way in midfield for KDB?

I have Hazard, Walcott, Firmino and Coutinho - all have the potential to keep pace with KDB in the next 4-5. All cheaper.

Aguero to Kane seems like the best option for you then. Your current midfield will keep up if not perform better than KDB who seems to be chipping in with assists to keep going.

Of City's 6 fixtures in December they have Chelsea home, Leicester away, Arsenal home and Liverpool away. I can't see many hauls there and I fully expect them to beat Hull on Boxing Day with neither of them featuring.

It's a risky strategy but I can't see much rotation from Spurs, Chelsea or Liverpool so I'm going to punt on it and reassess in January I think. I've a crap rank so not a great deal to lose!

I was drunk on Friday night but it appeared to affect me last night. After a ridiculous -4 I now have:

      Haz Cout Firm Snod
      Kun Kane Costa

If Costa gets booked today I've had it 😀

Save this week and then probably something like:
Lukaku + Arnautovic + Gundogan to Kane + Siggy + Matic

    Current forward 8: 1FT, 1.3 itb

Capoue Walcott Alexis Bolasie Lallana **
    Aguero Lukaku Austin

Lallana needs to go, probably for a liverpool mid (Firmino/Coutinho)

    But who to drop also?

      THIS.
Pep s added trend for high levels of rotation and that no player is essential in any week , adds fuel to the fire just before Christmas IMO

Somebody should make a pro and con version of not owing Aguero and I hope Defoe ruthlessness trashing him for 5 million difference is mentioned on top of that list .
12 weeks sample size is huge , this simply isn't good enough IMO . Needs atleast a goal a game for 11 million players , 13 million players needs to be captained week in week out to give that value and he isn't convincing everyone with Pool and Arsenal and Spurs expecting some good games too.

I'm giving serious consideration to Aguero out. I've toyed with it before but never really come close to doing it. Right now my team is:

    Heaton
    Alonso - Lovren - Holebas
    Hazard - Firmino - Coutinho - Allen*
    Aguero - Kane - Austin

    Pickford - Brunt - Capoue - Amat

Now Allen is suspended and long term I really don't want him in my team anyway. I have enough money to do Allen to Snodgrass, or I could even bench him this week, save a transfer and worry about it next week and play Brunt v Hull (a) or Capoue v Stoke (h).

But what I'm thinking is a 4 point hit to do Aguero to Ibra and Allen to Sigurdsson. This would then be a rough captain strategy:

    Ibra v West Ham (h) or Coutinho/Firmino v Sunderland (h)
    Kane v Swansea (h)
    Coutinho/Firmino v West Ham (h)
    Kane v Hull (h)
    Kane v Burnley (h)
    Ibra v Sunderland (h)
    Ibra v Boro (h)

From boxing day onwards Arsenal have some really nice fixtures so I would consider bringing in one of Walcott/Sanchez/Giroud, depending on what's happening at the time. There's also Costa to consider from GW15 but I don't want him right now while he's still close to getting suspended.

Thoughts? I know Ibra won't be a popular choice but thoughts on Aguero going? His fixtures over the course of that captain strategy are:

Burnley (a), Chelsea (h), Leicester (a), Watford (h), Arsenal (h), Hull (a), Liverpool (a) and I think out of the 3 high priced strikers he's probably the one most likely to get rotated over Christmas.

      Im considering it too Andy.
13 od million is a lot for someone who is underperforming with lots of value elsewhere.
I only have kept him as he is so highly owned and if he does well you don't slip behind.

I honestly believe Ibra is a great shout. Even better than the start of the season. His stats are there, along with some tasty fixtures. He has been unlucky not to score multiple braces.

I think this season is the year to go one week early on players like you did with Kane. I wish I had of taken your advice for my WC and kept Kane instead of going with Lukaku fixture.

Have a punt and get Ibra in mate.

Yeah my rank is still poor but made a couple of correct decisions in last couple of weeks which is nice

Held Ibra too long but Swansea (a) wasn't the fixture to get rid, and was worried about Lukaku's stats and fixtures after Swansea.

Kane was a bit of a lucky pick looking at MOTD at least, but with penalties in your locker that can always happen

It's a good plan and I'm doing something very similar with Kane but holding on to Aguero/Sanchez, even if you don't captain them, others will and they'll still score well for them, you'll still get half the points to take some of the sting out of it.

      Mine is something like...

      Captaincy from...

      GW13 Coutinho - Sunderland (H) Sanchez - Bournemouth (H)

      GW14 Kane - Swansea (H)

      GW15 Sanchez - Stoke (H) Hazard - West Brom (H)

      GW16 Aguero - Watford (H) Kane - Hull (H) Hazard - Sunderland (A)

      GW17 Kane - Burnley (H)

I'm also chasing up on lost ground and blindly captaining Aguero because he's Aguero won't help that IMO, still not comfortable with selling him yet though, he'll really be at theat for the chop when Gabriel Jesus turns up for me, will ride it out for now unless he blanks in the next two and Costa goes crazy.

Hard to be too critical of him for yesterday when most of the big internationals did nothing upon their return, the Liverpool mids were exactly the same as was Sanchez.

That captaincy strategy looks great too, so many options.

Getting rid of Aguero will require some serious thought, it's not something I'd do lightly but I do think some of the pressure will be off when it comes to captaincy. I find it very hard to not captain him when he's in my team.

Some of this comes down to team value though. There's teams knocking about with similar midfields to me but Walcott instead of Allen.

If I could afford to keep Aguero and upgrade Allen to someone other than Snodgrass I probably would.

The good thing about getting rid of him (if you do) is that his price is not out of control, if you move the money between two positions you could easily reverse it if it goes wrong.

Exactly - that's part of the thinking too. I don't want to distribute that cash throughout defence etc because then it takes multiple moves to get him back.

I might have to have a few whiskeys before hitting confirm on the transfer though 😆

I am considering just rotating his spot with Kane ..keep for Burnley and switch for Kane the following week against Swansea. They rotate well 0ver the next 4 weeks.

Aguero, Sanchez, Sterling & Allen > Kane, Hazard, Continho & Walcott for -8pts?

    😆

What do you think about this? - Will wait the transfers until the games have been played today.

    Foster (Grant)
    Fuchs - Walker - Holebas (A. Smith - Kingsley)
Hazard - Lallana - Allen - Coutinho (Fer)
    Aguero - Costa - Lukaku

    1 ft.

Tempted to do a 12 point hit.

    Aguero -> Austin
    Lallana -> Firmono
    Allen -> Sanchez
    Fer -> De Roon

    Yay or nay?

KDB getting a love of love for scores of:

      0
      1
      4
      8
      7

and some not very nice fixtures to come

Those first 2 in the middle were injury hit. Bit of a simplistic analysis this 🙂

Does Ibra look better than KDB? Not for me

Probably not, but I'm the only one with Ibra love, whereas there's a few for KDB 😀

Hey, hey, I'm a fan too. I'm looking at Kane in soon and then Kane to Ibra gw18

It is something like Defoe+KDB or Ibra+Sigurdsson.

But when I look at fixtures the latter gives me better captaincy choices. If I'm uncertain about captaining Aguero over those fixtures then I'm the same with KDB and I'll never want to captain Defoe (plus he doesn't have the greatest fixtures)

Ibra at least has some fixtures I'd captain him in

Yeah, but see above, Kane to Ibra gw18 looks pefect

But that's extra transfers whereas I could just get Ibra in now and Sigurdsson who has all set pieces and great fixtures

I'd actually look at Kane or Ibra to Costa in GW18 though

I might actually win my cup draw with a -8 😎

    It's Brunt + Alonso + 14 points

    vs

    Heaton + Evans

Still sobbing looking at Capoue on my bench after failing to commit a save on Saturday morning, God damn rubbish internet! Anyway do we think Giroud could be an option - he must have earned himself a start now?

      Looks likely but let's see.
Still hard to say that he couldn't get dropped again after starting one game then rotated around . Looks a good punt to predict that Wenger will start him next week but sometimes he might prefer his talents purely as a super sub for now due to too many midfielders who are available for Arsenal for selection .

Not anytime soon if the current back line keep performing. Conte also said that he will continue to play for U23s while he regains match fitness.

      Maybe in mid December.
He still lack match fitness and Conte doesn't want to take risk after bad injury
