Following his sixth double-digit Fantasy Premier League points haul of the season, Alexis Sanchez (11.5) is surely likely to be among the frontrunners to top the Gameweek 15 Captain Poll.

Already more than 145,000 FPL managers have drafted him in following his stunning hat-trick against a hapless West Ham defence on Saturday evening.

But his next opponents Stoke City may not be so obliging when they visit the Emirates, having conceded just eight goals in their seven away games.

Gunners team-mate Mesut Ozil (9.6) offers a strong alternative for those unable to afford the Chilean.

The 9% owned German’s goal and assist against the Hammers produced his third double-digit FPL points return of the campaign.

Interest in Theo Walcott (8.0) is likely to be muted following a dip in form that has seen him muster a solitary shot on target over his last four league matches. The 16.7% owned England winger did, however, score with that one attempt, in Gameweek 13.

Chelsea’s dynamic duo of Diego Costa (10.7) and Eden Hazard (10.4) are odds on to be the other leading contenders at the summit.

The 46.8% owned Spanish striker is already FPL’s most popular player and attacking points look likely when West Brom visit, given he has delivered in all bar two of his 14 Gameweeks.

The 35.6% owned Hazard may not boast the same consistency as Costa but his explosive potential and strong home form is surely set to garner plenty of votes. Three of his four FPL double-digit hauls have arrived at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho (6.6) may get another opportunity to impress in Gameweek 15, with Sergio Aguero starting a four-match ban for his horror tackle on Chelsea’s David Luiz on Saturday.

A trip to a Leicester City side that has conceded eight times in their last four league matches offers the Nigerian starlet the chance to become a regular in the Captain’s Poll until Aguero’s return for Gameweek 19.

Backers of the 3.4% owned striker will be optimistic after he delivered a 20 point FPL return over two matches when he last deputised for the Argentinian.

Kevin De Bruyne (10.8) is another Manchester City player with the pedigree to step up. The 10.4% owned Belgian also did well during Aguero’s previous three-match ban, scoring 27 points over Gameweeks 4 and 5.

Tottenham Hotspur’s trip to Manchester United on Sunday looks tough to call and is likely to temper interest in their respective front men, Harry Kane (11.0) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (11.2).

Jose Mourinho’s troops have conceded just six goals and kept two clean sheets at Old Trafford, while Spurs are equally resilient on the road: they have also allowed just six goals and kept a pair of clean sheets on their travels.

A lacklustre attacking display against Bournemouth on Sunday is likely to curtail the popularity of Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino (8.8).

That was his third successive Gameweek blank, but with 14 goal attempts over the last four matches, Firmino may still be a shrewd captaincy pick against a West Ham outfit that has shipped 10 goals over their last three.

If he can recover from a knock sustained at the Vitality Stadium, Sadio Mane (9.3) may be the best option in Jurgen Klopp’s ranks. The Senegalese scored and assisted in Sunday’s defeat and has despatched a further five goals at Anfield.

Sunderland’s visit to Swansea offers a pair of strong differential contenders. For the home side, the 7.4% owned Gylfi Sigurdsson (7.4) has proved a consistent option, with at least a goal or assist in four of his last five matches.

Jermain Defoe (7.7) remains the visitors best armband option, scoring his eighth goal of the season at home to Leicester City on Saturday.

Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke (7.5) is another with form and the fixture to attract attention. He will be in search of his fifth goal in as many league outings this weekend and travels to a Hull City side that has conceded 12 goals at the KCOM Stadium. Five of the 7% owned Belgian’s seven goals have been scored in away matches.

    current team:

    foster pickford

After Aguero out our teams will be almost the same. It's boring and teams with 1-3 differentials may go really high if Sanchez/Hazard/Kane etc will blank. Think about it when you take hits to make your team looks like everyone else.

Is it fun when a player that everyone has score? For me it is not fun at all. When my differential scores, that's the feeling that I like.

It actually sucks having the same players as everyone in your ML atleast because you'd want only your captain to perform and not the other big hitters if they are captained by your rival.

Spurs mid is a nice pick, even Ozil, KDB, Mane from big hitters may be a differential.

even just looking at the strikers the following are good options: Ibra, Kane, Costa, Defoe, Lukaku, Austin, Benteke, etc. and you can only have 3 of them. Teams will still be different.

It's just the core that will be template for most, at least on here so it feels like there's a template:

            Alonso
            Hazard - Sanchez - Sigurdsson
            Kane - Costa

But as you say there's people like me that have Ibra instead of Costa, and the third mid there's quite a few options. There will also be the Liverpool mids still sticking around like Firmino and Mane.

There will be differences but injuries and suspensions to Coutinho and Aguero does make it easier for people to get the likes of Sigurdsson and Kane last week and now Costa this week.

absolutely, but it's always the case, and we always have to listen to people moaning about it 😉

It's just part of the game.

I used to love showing off my no kun team on here, now it's pretty generic.
Moaning about a template is going too far though, this season has more choice than ever. There's only ever going to be a certain number of players who are good picks at any one time, if you hate that then don't bother playing

Hi All - setting myself up for the Christmas period and currently have a templatey front 8 of:

    Sanchez, Hazard, Firmino, Phillips, Fletcher
    Costa, Kane, Austin

Brought Kane for Kane in this week for my FT but have the exact money to do the following:

    A: Nothing and save 2.1ITB
B: Firmino to KDB for a hit
C: Phillips to Siggy for a hit
    D: B and C for a -8

Any thoughts? Currently approx 110K OHR and have a defensive line that includes Alonso and Cedric. Until this season, am generally hit-adverse but tempted to do so in a week when many others will be taking hits.

    Thanks.

Carrol is going under the radar. Fixtures can't get better for him. I seriously think he's worth a shout right now.

I'll consider that next week. Got some money wrapped up in Austin though who has done okay since I brought him in.

Hull and Burnley though for Carroll...

That's why I might get Can for Liverpool attack & sell Firmino > Payet if he blanks again.

Same here Andy. Not sure on Austin's minutes honestly. Looking to ship him for Carrol after Boro this weekend.

Yup - he's been rested for all European games. Looks risky for Stoke (a)

Carroll not exactly great on the old injury front though!

He also looks risky for wba(H) GW19 too.

But you're right about Carrol he's injury record is a worry too.

What do you think does he start against Pool this week?

More than likely I'd say. Best bet is probably just to play Austin v Boro and then see what Carroll does v Liverpool like you say above 🙂

most want to have 2 big hitters in front so with Austin/Defoe aleready there in most of teams, Aguero->Costa/Kane/Ibra

Seriously considering Rondon to Iheanacho for a hit. 10 ppg in the 2 games Kun was suspended

I want Iheanancho but I dont want to take a -4 to get rid of Austin.

Could do it next week for free after Austin has played Middlesbrough.

That's only a 3 GW plan then though, I quite like Carroll instead

Like Leicester last year do we think Chelsea will now start holding onto what they have rather than going All out attack?

By this I mean will we start seeing more 1/2-0 scores rather than 4 & 5.

    Appreciate your thoughts!

After Christmas is when team's start to tighten up - there's plenty more goals and FPL points to be had yet.

Very Good question this. But the difference this year and the previous year was the lack of competition. And also that time is after the Winter Transfer ends not at December. The league is always wide open at December. And Arsenal are most of the times the December League Winner and later stumbles. So, the league will be wide open at December and Chelsea have too many attackers. And Costa and Hazard would be like Mahrez and Vardy regardless of the defensive mindset they may take.

P.S. The league is still wide open, Arsenal Liverpool City even Spurs are all in this. City may have had a meltdown the last match but expect they will come out guns blazing once Guardiola settles with a formation. Arsenal are on form and Liverpool Spurs have good squads as well.

Already on -4... Would you make it -12 and bring in Can & Alonso?
Would be very happy with my team then - and look to save FT next week.

    Heaton
    Vertonghen - Cedric - Amat
    Sanchez (C) - Hazard - Firmino - Arnautovic
    Kane - Costa - Austin

    Pickford - Capoue - Friend - Evans (0FT - 0.1 ITB)

    Cheers.

I'm forced to start one of these:

    A) Pieters (ars)
    B) Evans (che)

    Which one would you start?

      A

WBA in bad defensive form. Stoke 2 CS' in a row and he's playing LWB.

Having to go hazard and sanchezless until Jan wc unfortunately. Most in my ml are getting them in which is worrying. My next 2 moves if all goes to plan are fuchs and arnie --> cedric and ozil. Think this team is good enough to stay in or around their pts?

    Heaton pickford
    Fuchs amat evans alonso holebas
    Mane firmino siggy arnie capoue
    Kane costa benteke

Yep. It's just about whether the template performs. It might, it might not, but deviating from the template is a hell of a lot more fun 🙂

    Pick Jaku
    Vertongen Holebas Evans Pieters Amat
    Sanchez Hazard Firmino Capoue Siggy
    Kane Costa Diomande

0FT as I brought in Costa for Kun.

Have 2.9m ITB so am wondering should I take a hit to:

    A) Diomande to 7.5m FW
    B) Capoue to 7:7m MD
    C) any DF to Alonso
    D) don't take any hit and wait
