Paddy Says

Christmas might be coming and the geese tending towards morbid obesity, but Paddy doesn’t have to wait for a whole year to deliver his Anytime Goalscorer and Clean Sheet odds.

Nor does he require a chimney, a sack and a carrot offering for his imaginary herd of flight-ready reindeer.

But before we unwrap this week’s glittering prices, let’s see if one of his enhanced offers to new customers could be just the thing you need.

Arsenal to beat Stoke at The Emirates looks likelier than a white Christmas at the North Pole, so 4-1 on a Gunners win is his first present of the week.

You can get the same odds on Chelsea making it nine wins in a row when they entertain West Brom and another 4-1 offer involves a Liverpool home win against West Ham. Anfield has witnessed five Reds victories this season, while the travelling Hammers’ fans have come home happy just the once, so they’ll struggle to shut down the Klopp and Kop shop.

On the blue side of the Mersey, Everton are off to Watford for the day, and you can get 7-1 on them returning with all three points, while Man City are at 5-1 to keep champions Leicester at the wrong end of the table.

And if accumulators are where it’s at for you, there’s 16-1 on offer for Arsenal, Bournemouth and Man City all to win. The Cherries are away at Burnley.

Be sure to check the terms and conditions on all those offers and, of course, we should state that all these specials are only available to those aged 18 or over. And if you’re going to wager, please always gamble responsibly.

There’s no need for a recount in our Captain Poll this week – Alexis Sanchez won it with a landslide. Popular vote, electroral college, proportional representation; whatever the method, the Chilean came out on top.

No surprise then that Paddy has him at 1.44 to score against Stoke. Close to 350,000 FPL managers have brought him into their sides this Gameweek, so they’re hoping for instant returns, even if the Potters have kept back-to-back clean sheets.

In a Fantasy season where midfielders have caught they eye, the forwards are now striking back. The rest of the top five most transfered-in players this week are all front men, with Harry Kane, Diego Costa, Jermain Defoe and Kelechi Iheanacho all feeling the love.

Defoe is the most generously priced of that group, rated at 2.37 to score for Sunderland at Swansea. Li’l Jermain has scored four times in his last five outings, while the Swans have shipped nine goals in a fortnight. Something’s got to give, and it’s more likely to be Bob Bradley’s defence giving Defoe a chance or three.

Paddy thinks Iheanacho will be the new Sergio Aguero for the next four matches, but if his 1.72 price isn’t rich enough for you there’s always Kevin De Bruyne at 2.62 and Yaya Toure’s 2.80 to consider as Man City travel to Leicester.

Liverpool are clear favourites to beat West Ham at Anfield (more on that below), and 1.83 shots Divock Origi, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane have all seen their ownership rise this Gameweek.

But the 1.5%-owned Andy Carroll is fit again – for now – and scored after coming on as a sub in last weekend’s mauling by Arsenal. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he did something similar on his return to Liverpool.

His price of 4.00 certainly makes him an intriguing outlier.

Paddy seems convinced of a Chelsea clean sheet against West Brom, offering the shortest odds (1.72) of any team to secure a shut-out this weekend. Fantasy managers agree – Marcos Alonso is the Gameweek’s most popular defensive acquisition and two others from the Blues’ rearguard are in the top ten.

But two of the top four in that list are Bournemouth boys – Nathan Ake and Steve Cook. The Cherries have a decent run up to Christmas, starting at Burnley today, which explains the Fantasy buys and makes Paddy’s 3.00 an interesting offering.

Having said that, Bournemouth have managed just the one clean sheet on the road and Burnley have only failed to score twice in eight matches at Turf Moor this campaign.

The 4.50 available on Middlesbrough to blank Southampton at St Mary’s looks a far tastier prospect.

Boro’s Ben Gibson is another in the top ten defensive buys this Gameweek, one of the side’s four back men with ownership figures at 3.0% or better.

Stopping Southampton at home looked tricky for Aitor Karanka’s men until Thursday night’s Europa League debacle in which the Saints lost both the chance to qualify for the knock-out stages and their top scorer, Charlie Austin.

Boro have kept four clean sheets this season – two at home, two away – but three of them have come in the last six Gameweeks. A demoralised Southampton missing Austin’s cutting edge could struggle to stop Middlesbrough making it five on Sunday.

I captained Sanchez last week and it's easy to be still swept up in the high of those bumper points. Won't happen against Stoke.

Hazard for me too this week, as I think he'll get more points.

1.72 is 8/11. Which means it's likely they will keep a clean sheet according to the bookies

1.72 is 8/11 in fraction terms.
      Place £11 you'll make £8 profit
      Place £22 you'll make £16 profit
      Etc

It means for every dollar/pound you put on the player, you'd get your original bet back plus additional 0.72 cents if they score

If you put a $1 bet on a Chelsea clean sheet you will receive $1.72 in return. Put $10 on it and receive $17.20.

Okay! I've been on Sanchez but I'm just being tempted by mane (good form, explosive) and firmino (due a haul) at home to West Ham's leaky defence. Then again maybe the form of the two West teams will reverse a bit: West Ham might buck up a bit after last week and Liverpool may tighten up as a reaction to Bournemouth. Meanwhile Tony Pulis may revert to his usual no show and excuse making away to the big teams. Think I'll stick with Hazard, just.

Defoe 100% nailed and can't stop scoring. Iheanacho may have a higher upside though.

    Play,

    Pickford?
    Foster?

I prefer Sanchez for armband but I'm chasing 80 points lead and Hazard is my main differential.

    So Hazard (c)?

In exactly same boat. It's currently on hazard but woke up this morning with strong urge to change it.

Not feeling confident of captaining Haz but don't see much difference between Costa,Haz and Sanchez.

Altough Wba have better defence but Arsenal had ucl game midweek and there might be some tiredness.

Defo Hazard if youre chasing. Sanchez is my differential as most people have Hazard in my ML, I have both hence Sanchez for me.

Obviously, but he also wants to close a gap, therefore, the best option isn't necessarily the one that he THINKS is most likely to score the most points... unless he has a crystal ball.

Keep Lukaku or swap out for Origi/Lorrente for a 1 week punt?

Might as well keep Lukaku for Watford is what I'm thinking.

    Cheers 🙂

        Hey, how's it going?

Mine's probably worse. Started off really well, dropped off and now I don't spend much time on it anymore. Just a few minutes on Saturdays.

        (C)aptain this week?

The thing about Nacho is that he is a short term solution. You wil have to get him out when Aguero is back. If you spred your founds on other players you wil need good planing or take multippel hits when Aguero is back.
