It’s Saturday morning – time to rise, shine and study the latest Anytime Goalscorer and Clean Sheet odds that have kept Paddy awake all night compiling.

But don’t feel sorry for him. It’s his job, after all.

And so is tempting new customers with enhanced offers, so that’s where we’ll start.

Two of the Gameweek’s three most transfered-in players happen to be from Liverpool. If all those managers are expecting Adam Lallana and Divock Origi-based joy, Paddy’s offer of 7-1 on the Reds emerging victorious from Monday’s Merseyside derby at Goodison could well lighten the mood even further.

Can Chelsea make it 11 league wins on the spin? Facing a Palace side that’s won just once in seven should help. Paddy’s 5-1 on yet another Blues victory looks decidedly generous.

You can also get 6-1 on Man U beating West Brom, while the even more likely event that is Spurs beating Burnley is on offer at 4-1.

And finally, the match of the Gameweek – Man City at home to Arsenal.

Pep Guardiola is struggling with the rigours of Premier League life at the moment, but even he would be tempted by the 6-1 he could get on his boys sticking it to the Gunners if he was really, really, really not allowed to bet on such things, that is.

Arsenal, meanwhile, were in a very good place before their midweek loss at Everton, with three straight wins and 11 goals scored. City’s defence is the wrong side of desperate, so if you think the Wenger boys can re-find their mojo, the 12-1 on offer looks almost irresistible.

Be sure to check the terms and conditions on all those offers and, of course, we should state that these specials are only available to those aged 18 or over. And if you’re going to wager, please always gamble responsibly.

Harry Kane, Diego Costa and Christian Eriksen were our top three in this week’s captaincy poll and whaddyaknow? Two of them have been handed the shortest odds in the Anytime Goalscorer market.

Kane (1.36) has drawn a blank for two consecutive Gameweeks, but the idea that he’ll fall short again seems highly unlikely when Burnley’s truly awful away record is added to the mix.

The Clarets have managed one – count it, one – point from seven road trips this season. That came when they gave Jose Mourinho a taste of his own medicine (flavour notes: bus hints, with motes of bus) in a 90-minute homage to the parking of public transport during Gameweek 10.

Spurs have won their last three home matches, banging in 11 goals while they’ve been about it, thanks in part to the resurgent form of Eriksen (2.20).

Further down the list comes Andy Carroll, who is priced at 2.40 to help dismantle hapless Hull City. Fantasy managers haven’t exactly busted a gut to get the big fella in, whereas Michail Antonio is the 10th most popular acquisition of the Gameweek. He’s at 2.80 to score – and he’s done that twice in the last five matches.

Priced only slightly lower than that is Alexis Sanchez (2.60). The Arsenal man has fallen out of favour for the armband this week, but nine of his 12 league goals this season have come away from home and Man City’s defence is so obliging that it would be almost surprising if he doesn’t add to that tally at the Etihad.

More than 240,000 FPL bosses have bought into the delights of Adam Lallana (3.30), making him the Gameweek’s top transfer target. The Liverpool midfielder is certainly in sparkling form, with three goals in his two starts since returning from injury.

The Merseyside derby often defies form, but Everton have kept just two clean sheets at Goodison all season, and none at all home or away for the past six matches.

Lallana looks as well-placed as anyone to cash in.

CLEAN SHEET ODDS – GAMEWEEK 17

Chelsea2.40

Liverpool2.75

Clean sheets have been scarce, and Fantasy managers have certainly been splashing the cash anywhere but at the back this week – among defenders, only Bournemouth’s Nathan Ake and Chelsea stalwart Cesar Azpilicueta make it into the top ten transfers-in.

The Cherries have kept five clean sheets this season, four of which have come at home. Even factoring in the unpredictability of a derby match at home to Southampton, the 3.20 you can get on a Bournemouth shut-out looks good.

The Saints have drawn a blank in their last two away days and are without leading scorer Charlie Austin, which makes the case for the Bournemouth defence even stronger. But Southampton are hardly mugs either – they’ve kept four cleanies in their last five outings – so the 2.87 on them for a south coast shutdown is as generous as you’re likely to get.

Stoke City host Leicester City and there’s 3.10 available on the home team frustrating the Foxes. Leicester currently travel about as well as a pint of Guinness on a Spacehopper – they’ve scored just twice in their last three away matches, losing them all to the combined might of Watford, Sunderland and Bournemouth.

Mark Hughes’ men, meanwhile, have kept consecutive home clean sheets and three in their last four matches overall.

If I had both, I would go Eriksen. Just watch the last game and you'll be convinced. Kane played very deep and didn't look threatening at all.

I didn't say he would play deep against Burnley? I said he did it last game, and doesn't look very confident either compared to Eriksen.

Is it too short-sighted to only look at the last game though? Double figures for Kane in the two easy home games before that (SWA/WHM)..

...and 37 points for Eriksen in the last two.

I'm not sure I would have captained one of them if I had them, but I don't have either so haven't looked into it a lot. Eriksen does get more points per goals and there is CS points as well. I feel Spurs will be more reliant on set pieces against a team that will park the bus.

There's a lot of comment about Kane and Eriksen on the captaincy hot topic. Worth taking a look there.

For me what's clear is that burnley do not attack away and concede more shots in the box than anyone else on the road.

That means Spurs are v likely to score and v likely not to concede.

For Kane this means even without Dembele there will be little need to play deep - as he did at times v Hull. Hull have put in 20 more goal attempts than travel sick Burnley on the road so have some threat to them - even if its poor. Burnley have no threat.

If Dembele theory is correct that Kane attacks less without his lucky charm on the pitch then against Burnley it shouldn't matter - he should be in the penalty box alot and he should get lots of chances. No Spurs player has put in more shots in the box than Kane over the last four.

Eriksen will also probably score - in fact all Spurs players could score. But he has marginally better threat from distance. I think Heaton is a better goalie than Hull's so may deal with those better.

I think both are good options but if Kane fails to score in this match given his stats and Burnley's then we know Dembele theory is the truest FFootball myth of all time.

If Dembele plays all points are mute - Kane will score ...simples. 🙂

I think the Heaton point is a good one. Burnley have only let in one goal outside the box away from home.

But it's mainly been midfielders who scored against them away. Three mid goals vs WBA and Chelsea spring to mind.

Part of me thinks Keane and Mee and Heaton are good players, so should shackle Kane well. But maybe Eriksen will pick up the pieces? And even then, Eriksen is creator-in-chief.

But Kane's probably the 'safe' option when it is so 50/50. 😕

So whilst Kane might stay in the box, half the Burnley team will be too! 😛 That's why I'm hesitant about him...

            That's a good point.

As with Aguero's goals v Burnley (which I know were at home but do show the quality of their CBs)....I think it will be busy and messy in the Clarets penalty box...so pretty much anyone can score in that chaos.

Burnley joint third worst for conceding errors away from home. That suggests chances will be plentiful for whoever is in the penalty box.

This is the key decision of the GW for me by far.

I chose Eriksen based on the CS bonus so if they flop he should still get a 6.

I also have visions of Heaton coming into better form and saving a Kane (C) penalty!! -6 all round.

I actually gambled and sold Kane and Fletcher to bring in Origi and Lallana. Just wasn't convinced that Kane is worth keeping after watching the game vs Hull. I Have Costa as my captain and Eriksen as vice captain. I'm always afraid of captaining a midfielder and with Hazard back I believe Costa wil deliver..

I'm going Kane because I believe he will score more points over the season per game and this is an easy game on paper.
I think alderweireld could be a great captain choice tho if I had him, more guaranteed a clean sheet than Kane a goal and a big threat in the box

        Cheers,

Already took a -4 hit on
        Can -> Lallana
Kos -> Ake (lallana enabler + rate of price changes this season is scary/exciting!)

As an enabler to get Eriksen, whats best:

    A - Defoe to Origi
B - Holebas to Dawson/ Martina/ Nyom (and which one?)

Just checked Eriksen's stats vs Kane's stats during their last game.
Mauricio utilized a 3-3-1-1 formation, thus allowing Eriksen to be practically unrestricted when attacking.

I think that's one argument for Eriksen C over Kane during this gw.

Think it was 3-4-2-1 but was hard to tell at times everyone was forward apart from Tony Jan and dier. I think it's the way to go for us using walker and rose for there pace and width. Before this game we was playing 4-2-3-1 with Eriksen and son in the wide positions which definetly doesn't suit Eriksens game so hopefully from now on poch plays this system

What do you guys think to bench boosting this? I know it makes sense to use a bench boost on a double GW but can't see myself having 15 players who all play regularly come that time.

    Pickford, Grant
    Ake, Pieters, Amat, McAuley, Brunt
Hazard, Siggy, De Roon, Eriksen, Sanchez
    Defoe, Costa, Kane

    0.0 ITB AND no FT.

Yay or nay to playing BB? And who for Captain?

    Thanks

I have Kane, Costa, Sanchez & Hazard.

Kane is the obvious capitancy choice, but I think Sanchez, with his away form and City's useless defence might be the dark horse. Thoughts?

    Grant
    Alonso, Ake, Cedric
    Hazard, Sanchez, Eriksen, Siggy
    Kane (c), Costa, Anichebe
    Pickford, Can, Amat, Keane

1 FT and 0.5 in the bank.

Keane/Cedric to Valencia/Jones or save transfer?

Anichebe is a still a doubt and Can may not start so that would mean Amat plays.
