Gareth Bale is “very doubtful” for Spurs game against Chelsea. Emmanuel Adebayor has a foot problem but is expected to play. John Terry and Ramires are passed fit for the clash, while Jamie O’Hara is sidelined for up to six weeks after undergoing hernia surgery:

Andre Villas-Boas had some positive news on the injury front in this afternoon’s press conference. Both John Terry and Ramires are available for tomorrow night’s trip to Spurs, though David Luiz has been ruled out, having failed to recover from a knee problem.

Chelsea have also this afternoon confirmed their Boxing Day clash with Fulham will take place at the scheduled time of 1pm. The game had been under review due to the proposed industrial strike on the London Underground but after consideration, the club have made the decision to go ahead as planned.

Harry Redknapp’s Press Conference was a little more pessimistic in terms of injury news. Although the Spurs boss admitted Aaron Lennon’s hamstring problem is not as bad as first feared, he has concerns over the availability of key players ahead of the Chelsea game, with Gareth Bale the main concern:

Gareth’s struggling at the moment. He hasn’t been able to train. He’s very doubtful. It normally takes six or seven days for Ledley’s knee to go down, so we’ll have to wait and see how it is today and tomorrow. He’ll be 50-50 at best I would imagine. Jermain, again, has a bit of a hamstring. He thinks he’s got a chance, but the physio isn’t keen on him taking a chance. Ade’s got a foot problem, we’ll see how he is. He can’t train today, but we’re hopeful. He doesn’t miss too many games.

Jamie O’Hara is set to miss the next 4-6 weeks after undergoing double hernia surgery. The midfielder was sidelined for the weekend home game against Stoke with a calf injury but the club’s official website revealed today that O’Hara has been bothered with a hernia problem for some time and the decision has been made to operate, thus ensuring he is 100% fit for the rest of the campaign.

Johan Djourou and Kieran Gibbs are both out of Arsenal’s trip to Aston Villa this evening. Arsene Wenger had expected the latter to be available but Gibbs has suffered a setback, meaning either Thomas Vermaelen or Ignasi Miquel could start at left-back. Djourou’s absence means Laurent Koscielny is likely to be fielded at right-back, with Bacary Sagna and Carl Jenkinson still both sidelined.

Dzeko out tonight!!!!! Aguero (c) 🙂

from his official site he says

"Zbog povrede članka propustiću današnju utakmicu Premiershipa protiv Stokea. Na treningu u ponedjeljak, nakon jednog duela sa suigračem, dobio sam udarac u članak i očekuje me pauza. Zglob mi je natekao i boli me, tako da ne mogu igrati, što mi je jako žao, jer sam bio u kombinacijama za početnu postavu."

    which a translator gave me

"Due to a violation of Article miss today's Premiership match against Stoke. At training on Monday after a duel with teammate, I got hit in the article and expect me pause. The joint is swollen and I hurt me, so I can not play, which I am very sorry, because I was in the starting lineup combinations. "

It's obviously too late to swap them out for this gameweek but do we keep them in the hope that they play next week (if they don't play tonight) or do we get rid before their prices decrease and our replacements increase...? Yep, giving them a few games ban and fining them not even a weeks wages is, quite frankly, pathetic. Further shows how far removed football is from everyday reality if the FA genuinely thinks that is 'setting an example'.

I'd be beyond shocked if someone wasn't sacked immediately where i work for doing something similar.

Precisely. And how footballers can be charged by the FA and be beyond the law is obscene. The excuse of "the heat of the moment" is frankly ridiculous.

                Indeed.
But sadly I don't think this will happen. We're too far away from ditching this idolization of footballers for them to receive the same laws and rules as us.

I think it's all mind games with 'Arry, I think Bale will play and Adebayor will most definitely play with Defoe nursing a hamstring injury, or potential injury, and Adebayor only suffering with a knock. It's exactly the same as McLeish coming out the other day and saying that Bent was definitely out in the week before the game but he didn't want to make his team known, or indeed, that Bent wasn't going to be someone to worry about to the other team.

Truth is, and I know we all know this, that managers are full of sh*t, and most of them like to whinge about injuries for a competitive advantage and to make a point to the FA about the backlog of games at Christmas time.

If you want to get Rooney in, that's a good transfer to get him in by.

I would do it, because Barfa doesn't play, so Surman will get more than him. IMO Rooney will get quite a few points in the upcoming weeks, and Shotton might get a few clean sheets at home to Villa and Wigan.

Go for it, if you want Rooney!

I know what you mwanza about Rooney but the real question is - What does Fergie do about his central midfield problem?

Rooney was the answer before and just because he's played up front recently doesn't mean he'll continue to do so.

It all depends on what happens 2nite. I will be watching MOTD very closely. With Chico back rooney can easily drop deeper.

Not sure. My supporting mid/for 7 is strong so I would be making a transfer for him to be sub and instead may go the Vermaelen route for next week. However a no show from Drenthe may make me reconsider.

That's a stupid thing to say. Since I brought Bale in for vdv, bale has given me 58 pts. vdv has scored 25pts in that time.

what has that got to do with you predicting the future, your claim was that you will still have made more points no matter what VDV does. You have know way of knowing that, you dont know what he will score over next few games and you dont know how long Bale will be out for, so in the context it is a very appropriate thing to say.
Now if your happy we will both agree I am correct and move onto less important things

sad that it is I went back and looked at scoring and you really expect me to belive you swapped VDV after a run of 40 odd points at the very moment Bale started scoring big. 2 weeks before VDV injury. I do believe you are telling porkies my old chap

This is the reason you need a strong squad, not a strong 11. Bale and Ade might not play but I have Mata and Simpson to come on if they don't.

What folk reckon took Krul in for Given few weeks ago 2 double up Krul and Simpson for SWA,WBA. Need 2 get rid of 1 of them now. So who out the 2 would you get rid of - keep and why? Any advice be great.

Krul. You can always bench Simpson, but Ruddy is your other keeper and he never keeps a CS. Sell Krul or always play him.

I've been playing this game for a few seasons now, and I can't remember already what used to happen without having a VC.

Who did the x2 bonus defer to before this season?

Before the VC rule, you could either pick value or form for your replacement captain, so you were guaranteed to have a captain with some sort of points.

    A. Walters + Sturridge leaves 0.5 in the bank

    B. Bale + Morison leaves 0.1 in the bank

    C. Walters + Morison leaves 2.6 in the bank

Thinking on doing these changes in the next couple game weeks. Long term investments here. What do you reckon?
