Unlike last year, we’re faced with a season where a plethora of premium options are delivering across the board, with the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Eden Hazard and Diego Costa all fantastic options.

But how do we fit them all in?

One way is to make sure you save pennies between the sticks and this article aims to provide you with the best Fantasy Premier League 9.0m or less goalkeeper rotation to last for the rest of the season.

This will  be particularly useful for those looking to take advantage of FPL’s second wildcard as soon as it becomes available next month.

In all combinations Sunderland’s 4.2 priced stopper Jordan Pickford shines like a guiding light to help you free up funds for outfield options.

He is the cheapest most nailed keeper and makes a bundle of saves (ranking second overall with 67 saves).

* The fixtures in bold denote games that Pickford would play in.

Here are Pickford’s best value combinations for the rest of the season.

Pickford [SUN]/ Valdes [MID]

bur, bur, LEI, (STO/ wat), (wba/ WHM), WBA, cpl, (SOT/ EVE), cpl, sto, (mid/ SUN), BUR, (wat/ swa), hul, BUR, WHM, bou, BOUhulSWA, (che/ liv)

  • Costs 8.7m
  • 8-11 home games out of 21
  • 10-13 away games out of 21
  • Very bad GW38 is a drawback
  • Play a team from the bottom five 9-11 times out of 21
  • Valdes ranked 16th for saves made (32)

Pickford [SUN]/ Foster [WBA]

(mun/ ars), bur, HUL, STO, (wba/ SUN), mid, (cpl/ STO), (SOT/ whm), BOU, CPL, midBURwat, wat, SOT, WHM, (ars/ mci), (BOU/ LEI), (hul/ bur), SWA, swa

  • Costs 8.9m
  • 9-12 home games out of 21
  • 9-12 away games out of 21
  • Baptism by fire in GW18 and a very tough GW34. But otherwise great rotation.
  • Play a team from the bottom five 6-9 times out of 21
  • Foster ranks 3rd for saves made (54)

Pickford [SUN]/ Heaton [BUR]

MID, (bur/ SUN), (LIV/ mci), (STO/ SOT), wba, LEI, (cpl/ wat), SOT, hul, swa, mid, (BUR/ sun), wat, STO, mid, WHM, (ars/ MUN), (BOU/ cpl), (hul/ WBA), (SWA/ bou), WHM

  • Costs 9.0m
  • 7-14 home games out of 21
  • 7-14 away games out of 21
  • Two very tough weeks in GW20 and GW34.
  • Play a team from the bottom five 4-8 times out of 21
  • Heaton ranks 1st for saves made (78).

Pickford [SUN]/ Mignolet [LIV]

STO, bur, sun, STO, SWA, (TOT/ CHE), hul, SOT, (eve/ lei), (MCI/ ARS), BUR, BUR, (wat/ EVE), BOU, sto, (WHM/ wba), CPL, (BOU/ wat), (hul/ SOU), SWA, MID

  • Costs 8.9m
  • 12-16 home games out of 21
  • 5-9 away games out of 21
  • Two very tough weeks in GW23 and 27 but at least they are all home permutations. GW26 is a little tricky with two aways.
  • Play a team from the bottom five 8-9 times out of 21
  • Mignolet ranks as one of the lowest at 26th for saves made (14) but he has been in and out of the team over the first half of the season. Looks 1st choice now.

Will Grant continue playing for Stoke all season?

Pickford / Grant bought at 8.0m now.

Good article, thanks, I find myself looking for these write ups more and more during the busy times on scout.
Pickford and Foster here in place as it stands. Been frustrating to say the least.
    I'm actually thinking of doing
Foster > Jakupovic (3.9) to assist me in a frontline of Costa/Kun/Ibra.
Hopefully I can save a few transfers now to pursue my strategy.

I bought Valdes just because MID good fixtures, didn't know that he rotate well with Pickford.
    Great article, cheers

I used to try these GK Rotations and it only messes thing sup for me.. Stick with one keeper (Heaton/Pickford) and go forth it only complicates things in the long run I think.

Im stuck with heaton & jaku!
When I used my WC earlier on in the season I went jaku over pickford then phelan started playing Marshall! Can't afford to use an FT to sort it out so heaton between the sticks for all games

    Thanks.

I have Foster/Pickford and won't switch till I wildcard. But I think you may have missed the best one - Pickford and Hennessey/Mandanda. Obviously you'd need to use a FT when Mandanda comes back. But it's cheaper at 8.5m and a rotation that works well right through to DGW time when things will change anyway. If I were wildcarding now, that's the one I'd take.

I've been planning this for a while for week 24 onwards, although I'd like to see some defensive improvements from Palace first. On the plus side, Mandanda should be back by then so no extra transfer.

I did consider this, but as you mention, it all depends when Mandanda would be back.

Also, Crystal Palace were hopeless under Pardew and just managed 1 clean sheet all season (against Southampton in a bizarre game). Other than that, their last CS was all the way back at the start of April.

But considering things have changed in the last 48 hours, and if Big Sam comes in, we might see an improvement at the back. In the off chance of this, below is what rotation we get for 8.5m

STO, (wba/ EVE), bou, SUN, (SOT/ sto), MID, wba, mid, BUR, wat, (lei/ sot), (MUN/ ARS), (WHM/ LEI), (ars/ liv), BUR, hul, (SWA/ HUL), (che/ mun)

      8-10 home games
      8-10 away games
Plays one of the bottom five teams 5 times.

For me that's too many fixture decisions to be made. GW31, 32, 24 and 38 are really off-putting to end the season with, especially when we think of the position those big teams will be in and the importance of the game.

34 and 38 not relevant really (not for me anyway) because I will have wildcarded by then.

I am of the view that save points are the saving grace for a GK and therefore don't mind playing them in a 'bad' fixture. If they manage an occasional shut-out in such a fixture they are on for maybe 11-12 points. If not they may still get 3-4.

I know it's different to the 'whole season' idea but with the stretch on budget as it is I'd like to spend as little as possible on GKs. I'd be happy with Pickford/Mannone to be quite honest. If I can have /Hennessey/Mandanda instead of Mannone at the same price, so much the better, even if I only use him 3 or 4 times.

Am I good to go guys?

    Foster

    Alonso - Walker - Holebas
    Hazard - Sanchez - Siggy - Eriksen
    Ibra (C) - Negredo - Origi

    Pickford/ Capoue - Amat - Ake

    3.4M ITB

    Play Foster or Pickford?

I plan to do Origi to Costa in next few. Is there something more obvious that I'm missing?

    Thanks guys!!!

Excellent article. Currently on Heaton / Pickford (was Cech/Heaton, but have now seen the light) and reckon that's a great combo. Would possibly look at Valdes or Grant on WC if funds were tight. Otherwise happy to stick. Update to include Grant if he becomes nailed (looking possible) would be good!

I'm pretty dreadful at choosing the right keeper for the right fixture. I'll just stick with Heaton/Robinson thanks.
