Cursed with a reputation of failing to deliver to form and fixture, while some have tried to dispel the myth, Romelu Lukaku chose today to slay it once and for all.

The stage was dressed and set for the Belgian.

With the fixture list driving his recruitment, there was a degree of forced faith in Lukaku.

Two blanks on the road had created an air of caution, but Everton’s home form was strong enough to offer real hope.

Bournemouth, as today’s visitors, were offering the biggest reason for optimism. Incredibly, Eddie Howe’s side arrived at Goodison Park having shipped 20 goals in their last ten outings, conceding three in six of those matches.

The script was meticulously scribed and, for once, Lukaku read and stuck to it perfectly.

It took him just 30 seconds to expose the Cherries frailties, ominously curling home a confident opener to tease the destruction that was to follow.

Bournemouth’s second half rally merely drew the sting from Everton, with Lukaku ending the match in riotous form.

Acquired by over 75,000 prior to today’s deadline, Lukaku boasted an ownership of 1.1 million FPL managers.

However, only 22% of those owners chose to back him with the captaincy, perhaps distracted by the lure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Harry Kane, having previously been stung by the Everton striker.

However, announcing himself this season with a hat-trick on Wearside, Lukaku chose Bournemouth as his next major victims and bullied them with a similar display of pace, power and finishing.

His 21-points ranks second only to Alexis Sanchez’ fabled London Stadium haul – Lukaku’s return today is the top individual score by any FPL forward.

With the fixtures remaining kind and with Gameweeks 26 and 28 booked in, his ownership and price will likely rocket.

However, while we can lavish praise his way this evening, we should not forget the frustration he can cause.

Stalling badly from Gameweek 11, Lukaku appeared stuck in a rut and unable to drag Everton from their Autumnal malaise.

But something clicked thereafter – perhaps the new arrivals on Merseyside, perhaps Ronald Koeman’s new formation – but the smile returned, and the energy and hunger came with it.

Incredibly, he now leads the Golden Boot race. Involved in 51% of Everton’s goals, boasting an almost identical points per match tally as both Diego Costa and Ibrahimovic and second only to Jermain Defoe for points per million value, the case for Lukaku is compelling.

Was there ever any doubts? Of course, but at least for tonight, we will conveniently forget the past.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Captain poll for 24 and Kane is already in an early lead. Is that some kinda type B knee jerk cos Kane did not score 4 today. Liverpool must have been very bad recently.

    1) Daniels, Sanchez, Negredo, Grant >>>> Alonso, Sigurdsson, Lukaku, Jaku (-12)

    2) Sanchez, Daniels, Negredo>>> Sigurdsson, Lukaku, Cahil (-8)

    3) this week::
    Sanchez, Daniels, >>> Alonso, Snodgrass
    next week ::
    Negredo > Lukaku
    ( total -4, plenty itb)

    Plz advice
I like (1) , but how badly -12 might bite me?

Very poor midfield and threadbare defence.

Daniels and Stanislas most likely to be dropping in value soonest, so those are the priorities.

Since you have no cash, you're gonna have to sacrifice either Sanchez or Ibra to get anything done. Both facing double blank gameweeks, so pick one and then use the rest of the funds in midfield and defence.

Good value players you don't have: Coleman, Siggy, Brunt, Defoe

Deadwood you need rid of: Daniels, Stan, Allen, probably Phillips

    This is a THANK YOU-post.

Last time Lukaku scored a hattrick (Sep 12th 2016); didn't own him, got Barkley's 1 pointer (after being subbed at halftime for being useless), captain fail from Hazard, Capoue 13 pts on my 1st bench - total 25p (-4). Crashed from OR 410,682 to 1,343,765.
All of this happened when I was visiting Tokyo, staring at my mobile in the middle of the night, reading how almost everyone here had (C) on Lukaku. I quit my ML and sort of gave up this season.

This time; Sold Giroud for Lukaku. Followed the crowd here on FFS and put the armband on him. Nobody in my ML had him in their team.

Now, I'm currently leading my ML and OR is 121,203. It's been a tough couple of months, but thanks to good advices and articles, I've managed to turn this season around!

A big shout-out to KINGS OF LYON and his Hot Topic "THERE'S STILL HOPE!" that was posted around September last year. That post was sort of the turning point. 🙂

Enjoying hubris biting someone on the arse is pretty natural - I don't enjoy failure ordinarily but it would definitely make me chuckle if someone failed to score having assumed they had it in the bag.

I just completed (some) of the match of the day challenge as an Arsenal fan.

      - Arsenal looked awful. Very disappointed.

-When I seen the running order I knew Lukaku done damage. I actually had to turn it off. I agonised for hours over Ibra - > Lukaku (c) and didn't do.

All in all I haven't a clue what the average but I got 50 with 1 to play it it feels sh*t

We all have sheet weeks mate, that's what make the good weeks feel erm... so good. Then we feel the bad weeks too, what a game eh?

Pep, Mourinho, Klopp, Conte, Poch, Ranieri, Wanger and somehow at this point in time the relegation battle looks more interesting than the title race... huh

Anyone know how Snodgrass looked today? Plan this GW was either Stanislas > Snod or Zaha. With Crystal Meth Palace looking dead I´m no longer considering Zaha.
