Cursed with a reputation of failing to deliver to form and fixture, while some have tried to dispel the myth, Romelu Lukaku chose today to slay it once and for all.

The stage was dressed and set for the Belgian.

With the fixture list driving his recruitment, there was a degree of forced faith in Lukaku.

Two blanks on the road had created an air of caution, but Everton’s home form was strong enough to offer real hope.

Bournemouth, as today’s visitors, were offering the biggest reason for optimism. Incredibly, Eddie Howe’s side arrived at Goodison Park having shipped 20 goals in their last ten outings, conceding three in six of those matches.

The script was meticulously scribed and, for once, Lukaku read and stuck to it perfectly.

It took him just 30 seconds to expose the Cherries frailties, ominously curling home a confident opener to tease the destruction that was to follow.

Bournemouth’s second half rally merely drew the sting from Everton, with Lukaku ending the match in riotous form.

Acquired by over 75,000 prior to today’s deadline, Lukaku boasted an ownership of 1.1 million FPL managers.

However, only 22% of those owners chose to back him with the captaincy, perhaps distracted by the lure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Harry Kane, having previously been stung by the Everton striker.

However, announcing himself this season with a hat-trick on Wearside, Lukaku chose Bournemouth as his next major victims and bullied them with a similar display of pace, power and finishing.

His 21-points ranks second only to Alexis Sanchez’ fabled London Stadium haul – Lukaku’s return today is the top individual score by any FPL forward.

With the fixtures remaining kind and with Gameweeks 26 and 28 booked in, his ownership and price will likely rocket.

However, while we can lavish praise his way this evening, we should not forget the frustration he can cause.

Stalling badly from Gameweek 11, Lukaku appeared stuck in a rut and unable to drag Everton from their Autumnal malaise.

But something clicked thereafter – perhaps the new arrivals on Merseyside, perhaps Ronald Koeman’s new formation – but the smile returned, and the energy and hunger came with it.

Incredibly, he now leads the Golden Boot race. Involved in 51% of Everton’s goals, boasting an almost identical points per match tally as both Diego Costa and Ibrahimovic and second only to Jermain Defoe for points per million value, the case for Lukaku is compelling.

Was there ever any doubts? Of course, but at least for tonight, we will conveniently forget the past.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I need to ship one to get cash for forthcoming GW28 transfers, no idea which one(s) can go:

    Sanchez - Hazard - Eriksen
    Ibra - Costa - Defoe

If incase I play WC after this week, whom would you pick from each:

    A) Costa or Alonso

    C) Alli or Philips or Baines or Carroll

Probably wont make sense but those are my options at the moment.

      Alonso
Lukaku ( Plz can you have both )

A: Alonso -- Popular, consistent CS points, and explosiveness. Not many DF could be in a position to follow up Costa's header and score.

B: Leaning to Hazard because of fixtures. Who will be your forward if you don't pick Lukaku?

C: Leaning to Phillips because of fixtures as well.

Llorente still to play and you can see how he does against City. He will play on GW28 too.
Mirallas & Haz got points. Erik & Phillips are popular.
Brint & Azpi & Baines are strong.
      GK combo are also ok.

Just Jones, Amat, Capoue, and probably Lllorente that you may consider to make a change step by step.

Thanks Natster, good advice. I think I can get there with just a few transfers here and there.

I wouldn't wildcard that team. What are you unhappy with?

I think this is right. Hard to do though as I dropped Siggy for Mirallas three game weeks ago...

      C. With blank gameweeks coming up, I would avoid cheeky transfers like these for now.

I bought Alexis 11.9 and now he 11.8 That's definitely not the kind of investment I like to do. I don't know why people are in such a haste. I wish they are punished!!!!!!

    Would you prefer...

    A. Baines and Eriksen or
    B. Nyom and Hazard

    ?

    Thanks!

    Heaton / Pickford
Alonso, Coleman, Brunt / Evans, Amat
Sanchez, Alli, Phillips, Stanislas / Capoue
    Ibrahimovic, Costa, Lukaku

    1 FT, 0.5 ITB

My midfield is really poor, how would you improve it?
In one GW time I probably have more £ to play around with, with Sanchez/Ibra maybe out. Sell one of them now? Their next fixture looks very good but price may start to plummet and there is a gap between the GW's aswell, so may see a 0.4 drop.

Wayyy early I know but what would you change about this team?

    Grant Pick
    Azpi Alonso Walker Coleman Amat
    Sanchez Alli Eriksen Phillips Deroon
    Carroll Benteke Ibra

    1 FT 1.5 itb

Plan was to go Benteke> Lukaku in a couple of gws time.. seeing as tekkers had good fixture as well
Dunno how to rush through that transfer now... or should i just hold on???

    Heaton, Pickford,
    Alonso, Walker, Brunt, Francis, Amat,
    Sanchez, Ali, Phillips, Siggy, T.Carroll,
    Lukaku, Ibra, Kane.

1 FT 0.4ITB Thinking Kane to Costa (will allow Amat to Funes Mori & a Pickford upgrade with blanks in mind). Really want Coleman but cannot bear to lose Brunt, Walker, or Alonso.

Need Stan or rondon out or both. Don't mind taking hits being doing it all season and up to 48k.

    Heaton pickford
    Alonso valencia Baines brunt Amat
    Sanchez kdb alli Stan deroon
    Ibra lukaku rondon

    1ft 2itb

Exact money for Stan to siggy
