Tuesday kick-starts the second set of Champions League last sixteen matches and presents another opportunity to sign up and win big cash prizes with DraftKings.

The process is simple: Register a new account on DrafTKings.com and make a minimum deposit of $5 then you will get your free entry to a paid contest. You are then well on your way to selecting your eight-man squad.

DraftKings have set up another exclusive Fantasy Football Scout contest for this round of matches – the FFS League is free to play with a $500 prize pot.

Select your eight-man squad and register your account to get free entry to our League. Cash prizes are available right down to 128th place.

These is also a huge $20,000* in total prizes available in the DraftKings “Clean Sheet” Champions League contest. The top manager will have an opportunity to claim a $3,000* cash prize and prizes will be given from 1st to 140th place.

“Saramek”, a UK-based DraftKings manager from Congleton, got involved and claimed top spot in last week’s $25k Valentine’s Day Special Champions League contest.

His winning line-up (below) included no less than five of Bayern Munich’s star performers from their 5-1 drubbing of Arsenal, helping him to a $5000 prize.

If you’re new to DraftKings, we’ve got a handy strategy guide which will introduce you to basics of squad selection.

For further assistance, here’s our selection of player picks over Tuesday and Wednesday’s matches to form the core of your squad.

Tuesday Player Picks

Fixtures
Manchester City vs Monaco
Bayer Leverkusen vs Atletico Madrid

Jan Oblak – Atletico Madrid – $5,000 – G
Having recovered faster than expected from a shoulder injury, the Slovenian is back in training ahead of Atletico’s trip to Germany.

Oblak conceded just a single goal in the six group matches and should get the nod if fit, though deputy Angel Moya ($4,900) has been a respectable stand-in – he’s registered 11.3 Fantasy Points Per Game (FPPG) in DraftKings over eight matches, which included 24 saves and five clean sheets.

Benjamin Mendy – Monaco – $4,200 – D
A strong return of 77 crosses (worth 0.75 points each) in nine DraftKings matches has helped the Monaco man build an FPPG of 14.1 this term.

Priced favourably, Mendy still looks a very viable option ahead of a trip to Manchester City – the raiding left-back has racked up seven assists in 19 Ligue 1 and Champions League outings so far.

Raheem Sterling – Manchester City – $7,600 – M/F
While an injury to Gabriel Jesus has left City reeling, Sterling’s recent form raises his stock as Pep Guardiola’s men welcome Monaco to the Etihad.

The winger is far kinder on the budget than Kevin De Bruyne ($9,000, M/F) and Sergio Aguero ($9,200, F) and has markedly upped his consistency in recent matches, producing a goal or assist in eight of the last ten league outings.

Yannick Carrasco – Atletico Madrid – $7,900 – M/F
Atletico travel to a Bayer Leverkusen side that have underperformed this season, drawing four group stage ties and losing more matches than they’ve won in the Bundesliga.

While we were tempted by Antoine Griezmann ($8,300), Carrasco is our preferred pick from Diego Simeone’s side. He had 11 goals, four assists, 55 crosses and 20 interceptions in 31 DraftKings appearances. That showcases his all-round ability, while a goal and an assist against Celta Vigo last weekend emphasises the Belgian’s current form.

Karim Bellarabi – Bayer Leverkusen – $5,500 – M/F
With playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu banned for the rest of the season due to a contract dispute, his fellow wide man offers a cut-price route into a Leverkusen attack that has scored at least twice in four successive home matches across all competitions.

Bellarabi has bagged three assists in his last two home outings, including two in a weekend win over Eintracht Frankfurt, where he also supplied six crosses from his role on the right.

Wednesday Player Picks

Fixtures
Porto vs Juventus
Sevilla vs Leicester City

Sergio Rico – Sevilla – $5,600 – G
The Sevilla number one boasts an impressive 10.3 FPPG ahead of a visit from goal-shy Leicester City next Wednesday.

Rico has produced 12 clean sheets and 88 saves in 26 outings across all competitions and will fancy his chances of shutout number 13 against a Foxes outfit that has scored a single goal in their last eight Premier League matches.

Dani Alves – Juventus – $5,000 – D
The summer signing from Barcelona gets the nod due to his DraftKings points potential at both ends of the pitch. Flourishing as a right wing-back in Juventus’ 3-5-2 set-up, Alves has provided 80 crosses over 21 appearances in all competitions, with an average of 1.9 crosses per Serie A match more than any team-mate.

However, it’s the Brazilian’s encouraging defensive actions that set him apart ahead of the trip to Porto. A total of 45 tackles won (each provide +1 Point in DraftKings) and 33 interceptions (+0.5 points) make Alves a prime candidate for inclusion in our rosters.

Wilfred Ndidi – Leicester City – $4,400 – M
Leicester’s dire domestic forms makes it difficult to recommend any of the Foxes attackers, though the ball-winning ability of their winter signing from Belgian side Gent could prove value for money.

Averaging 8.8 FPPG, Ndidi made more tackles and interceptions than any other player in the group stages of the Europa League before making his way to the King Power, suggesting that Claudio Ranieri may have finally found his replacement for N’Golo Kante in the centre of the park.

Gonzalo Higuain – Juventus – $8,500
The Argentinian has settled seamlessly in Turin after a controversial switch from Napoli over the summer.

Higuain may be the third most expensive forward on offer for the midweek matches yet his record since arriving at the Old Lady is hard to overlook. Three goals in five Champions League group stage appearances and 18 strikes in 24 Serie A outings makes him our go-to option for the trip to Porto.

Andre Silva – Porto – $6,800 – F
Four goals and two assists over the group stages underlines Silva’s importance to Porto ahead of the showdown with Juventus.

A single goal against in their last six in all competitions shows that the Serie A side will be a tough nut to crack but if their hosts are to stand any chance of progressing, Silva – with an FPPG average of 15.5 – will surely be key.

Because of a peculiar dislike of defensive players which ignores Brunt's extraordinary home form.

That said, I'll be captaining Lukaku with a Spurs player as my vice.

I like defensive players. I spend more on them than most. I even captain them occasionally.

Brunt's "extraordinary home form" is an invented construct based on the fact that he has happened to get 2 goals and 2 clean sheets in the last 3 home games. Those sequences happen sometimes with decent players; they aren't extraordinary and they have little to do with form.

He also just happened to get 1 goal and 3 assists in the three home games prior to that too... Is there a point where the sample size gets so large that it ceases to be happenstance?

Yes. I am always very wary about home/away distinctions though. Burnley defence at Turf Moor? Yes, that is clear and goes back a long time. WBA and especially Brunt getting attacking points at the Hawthorns? I'm not so sure really.

The lines between FFS and FPL are getting more and more blurred. It'd debatable how independent FFS actually is now.

Be that as it may, Mark will have written that article I imagine and yes, it's new this season.

The fact that Sigurdsson's price is due to rise ahead of Chelsea(a) is probably down to FFS/FPL's relentless promotion too. 😕

I am new here so i don't know if FFS defends an indepedence. I know that this kind of information can help thousands of people.I had no idea about forums/communities since October or didn't want to be a member.I think there are thousands managers who don't know about forums and an article like this can really help them. Also apart from the relation of a manager with FPL i think that a connection between FFS-FPL only as good can be considered.

Please don't get rid of Kane/Eriksen before GW26.

Plan for GW28 by taking care of your bench assets like Ake and Amat with those free transfers, turning them into Everton or Hull defenders for example.

Not necessarily, I think anyone who says they can predict that is just guessing - as all three players are in form and class, I just think with the likes of Ake and Amat in the team, you can take care of those areas and set up nicely for 28 while still retaining in form Spurs assets for the weekend. Who knows, maybe it's Coutinho or Firmino who explode in 26, not Mane...

Don't sell Holebas, get rid of Amat. Watford have nice fixtures immediately after the big blank and might even be one of the few teams to have a dgw34. Even though one could be Chelsea away, Holebas is the kinda player that could get a 20 pointer in a dgw.

C imo. A is tempting but the -4 would be for GW26 and 28, and then you'd probably need to use another transfer to get rid of the Everton DEF double up after GW28. Don't think it's worth the hit personally.

I guess it comes down to how many players you feel you need for GW28. 7 does seem too few, so if Coleman is your preferred option then it definitely makes sense to do it now and have him for SUN(H), and then make sure you roll over the FT before GW28 so you can sort out the team for GW29.

Anyone set up fine for GW28 already, considering playing the Ibra Costa merry go round for next couple of weeks ?

      Thinking Alexis + Ibra + Siggy -> Hazard + Mane + Costa (-8)

      Let's me play a front 7 of :

      Haz Mane Eriksen Alli Phillips
      Costa Lukaku(c)

Might get Ibra and Siggy back for next week, Costa and a spurs mid might make way.. and happy to field 8 players for GW28

If they dont perform, -8pts will be wasted...

Alexis and Sigurdsson to Hazard and Mane can work. Keep Ibra

In light of finding out Liverpool have a fixture in GW28 (cheers TM) and Spurs don't, should I do as my extra free transfer this week:
      1) Holgate to Coleman
      2) Alli to (2a) Firmino (2b) Mane

I have Baines. I don't have any other Spurs players. I am bringing in Kane for Lukaky in Gw29.

How many players do you have for GW28 currently? Think it's important not to 'overcorrect' for the blank gameweeks and leave yourself short for GW28 onwards, and apart from GW28 blank Spurs have very good fixtures up until GW33

        1. The Big Fella
          • 9 Years

6 (7 if Holgate plays) plus still got my FT for this week so could get a max of 9 in without taking hits. I have a few non-playing players I wanted to get rid of (Ake and Holgate) for cheap defenders that play in GW28 as this will help going forwards too.

The thing is, I wanted to bring Kane in for Lukaku afterwards anyway as I want to bring in a Liverpool mid (they look better now Mane is back) and Alli is the only reasonable person I could get rid of. I'd still have a Spurs attacking threat plus a Liverpool attacking threat.

Maybe get rid of Ake first then, as there's a chance Holgate might play if Koeman goes back to 3-4-2-1?

I see where you're coming from with Liverpool, but Spurs are really strong at home and I can see them putting a few past Stoke, and EVE(H) is a better fixture than ARS(H) in GW27. I can't see your team but would getting Firmino in after GW27 work?

Cheers for the reply. Yeah I don't link it mate, sorry. It has my name, my work league and then my mates in work. With that people could easily find me on social media etc. (paranoia alert!!!)

I would prefer to get rid of Ake first, yes, but I have Lukaku, Baines and Holgate so already got 3 from Everton.

              Team is
              Pickford Grant
              Alonso, Baines, McAuley, Ake, Holgate
              Sanchez, Alli, Phillips, Siggy, Antonio
              Ibra, Lukaku, Anichebe

I got Sanchez at 10.9 and I've had Ibra all season. Too much to lose by selling them plus I think it will give me an advantage in GW27.

Want to bring in Coleman, Jaku, a Liverpool mid and Mawson/Robertson plus downgrade Baines and bring in Kane in the coming weeks.

                Hahah don't blame you!

I know what you mean with Sanchez, it's a lot of value to lose but from a points perspective it makes most sense to get him out for a LIV mid and then maybe look to bring him back for GW31-that's my plan anyway. His value will have dropped a few by that time and I think transfer value is secondary at this point in the season anyway.

But if you're set on keeping Sanchez, then imo Holgate>Coleman makes more sense for this week, and get Firmino/Mane after GW27.

Most people are going to bring him in for GW31 which means I will have 1 of the league's most in-form players this season for a nice string of games (liv, wba, CITY - none of which keep clean sheets) before everybody else gets him. He will, oddly, be a differential. I think I will be doing Holgate -> Coleman and then Liverpool mid week after, as you suggest. Cheers mate.

Hey guys, would appreciate some help with this...

      Line-up for GW26 currently:
      Jaku
      Alonso Baines Nyom
      Mane Eriksen Siggy Phillips Fletcher
      Lukaku Benteke
      (Grant, Amat, Mustafi, Ibra)

      0FT, £6.1m ITB.

      A) Benteke > Kane for a -4 and play fletcher this week. This would leave me with 8 playing in GW28 and 2FTs before then, so would need to take another -4 to get 11 players.

B)Mustafi > Coleman/Hull DEF for a -4 and bench fletcher, play Benteke this week. Would leave me with 9 players for GW28 so no hit needed to get 11 out in GW28.

      C) Leave as it is and don't take a hit this week.

C - don't take 4 points hits for the likes of choosing a Hull defender over Fletcher mate. They're both just going to earn you 2 points. That is already a good team for GW26 and you can save 2FT to make it even stronger (or for GW29 to bring a premium player back in)

        1. The Big Fella
          • 9 Years
          8 years, 9 months ago

Misread that, sorry. Still C though. Mustafi will be worth more than a Robertson in the long run. I would debate it for Coleman but not for a -4. We are in the business end of the season now. 9 players for GW28 is fine. You don't want 11 mediocre players afterwards.

Cheers, yeah that makes sense, won't bother with a Hull DEF. Thinking maybe Amat>Coleman for -4 makes more sense? It's only really a -2 as he plays in GW28, and if I do get him it makes sense to do it now before SUN(H)?

I suppose if he makes even 1 assist, scores 1 goal or gets 1 CS in those 2 games he has paid for himself so yes - I'd do Coleman and I'd do it before Sunderland.

      0FT, 1.6m ITB.

      Foster (Jaku)
      Coleman Brunt F.Mori Alonso (Lenihan)
      Alli Snoddy Phillips (Siggy Sanchez)
      Lukaku Kane Defoe

I seem to have two problems which work against each other, and that is not Ibra for GW27 and only 8 for GW28 with only 2 FTs before then. Next gameweek, should I:
      (A) Get Ibra at all costs and take hits to field more players for GW28.
      (B) Use 2FTs to get 10 for GW28 and ignore Ibra.
      (C) Use 2FTs and a -4 to get 11 for GW28 and ignore Ibra.

B or C, the team is set up very nicely for 26, you should score very well with so many players playing at home. Barring a Kane injury, I'd ignore Ibrahimovic since you would need a -4 to bring him in GW27 anyway for Defoe and you wouldn't sell Kane/Lukaku.

        Work in 27+28 on GW28.

    9. Ibracadabra
      • 16 Years

Barring injury, transfers for the next 4 GWs are absolutely locked in, seems kind of strange to plan so far ahead, but am confident. Currently have 6 GW28 players and will have 10 with no hits.

      GW26, Sanchez + Amat -> Mane + Robertson
      GW27, de Roon -> Siggy
GW28, Eriksen -> Firmino (or any midfielder 8.4m and below).
      GW29, Mane -> Sanchez

Current team before GW26 transfers is-

      Jakupovic*
      Coleman*-Alonso-Nyom* (Amat, Yoshida)
      Sanchez-Hazard-Eriksen-Phillips* (de Roon)
      Ibrahimovic - Lukaku* - Carroll*

Maguire mopping up the CBIs for potential baps in a 1-0 win.
Robertson has millions of final third touches and crosses so the assist potential could come through if/when they concede.

Maguire slightly for me. Both good picks potentially considering cheapness and non blanks.

With Liverpool avoiding the blank in GW28, is Clyne a good option to bring in rather than disrupting my midfield? Leaning towards saving FT for this week though, what ya reckon:
      Heaton (Pickford)
Alonso / Brunt / Funes Mori / Maguire (Amat)
Hazard / Eriksen / Phillips / Siggy (deRoon)
      Lukaku / Benteke (Ibra)
      1FT 4.4m itb

      A. Save FT.
      B. Amat to Clyne.
      C. Amat to Mawson (in prep for GW28).
      D. Eriksen to Mane.
      E. Other

It is, and Siggy's a hedge v Alonso's cleanie. Toughie, but although 5 at the back looks a bit wrong, you have to regard the likes of Alonso, Brunt and Clyne as more or less wingers which makes it feel better lol 😉

LEI really don't look to have improvement in em either so it's very tempting. Also the home game in 28 against BUR, he looks a decent buy.
Had 2FT's this week and jumped the gun getting Siggy in for Sanchez early 🙁
Cheers mate and GL to you!

Clyne gets into a lot of great positions but his crossing is atrocious, and Liverpool's fixtures don't look likely to yield clean sheets - not worth his price. Save FT imo.

Cheers, yeah he's a bit expensive, might just go without Pool, that LEI game is scary though!

Is there still a chance for some games to be reached to GW28 ?

How late can it be for fixture confirmation?

I am reading very slight chance of shuffle arounds- but mostly Scout talk- nothing solid or likely. Of course MCI have to win their replay or their 28 will happen.

No, because midweek 28 is for CL/EL games. The midweeks available for PL games are 26, 34 & 37.

A I think, nice 4-4-2 with Ibra nicely benched for 27. Good Siggy v Alonso hedge too.
