Gameweek 26 rolls on with an “unfashionable” evening encounter that pairs Watford with West Ham at Vicarage Road.

From a Fantasy perspective, this serves as a scouting mission of the Hammers assets ahead of potential investment for the Gameweek 28 blanks.

Slaven Bilic’s side are just one of eight teams that are currently guaranteed to play over that weekend and, as such, are elevated in our thinking ahead of this encounter.

Andy Carroll is again an absentee as he continues to struggle with a groin complaint, leaving Michail Antonio to lead the attack for the visitors. He’ll be under the microscope, along with Robert Snodgrass who tucks into the number 10 role against the Hornets.

For the home side, Fantasy interest is limited given their forthcoming blank, although promising fixtures to follow has us monitoring the continued form of Troy Deeney and M’Baye Niang.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I don't care either way about if he gets it. I'm an owner. Just amazed how long it takes them to decide if somthing meets the criteria that they set. They need to pass this on to somone a bit more capable of dealing with it

All goals with no assists assigned are assessed in the final hour before the bonus points are confirmed unless there's a glaring error. This is not a glaring error, this is a review of a current non assist. It's been like this for two seasons.

Maybe I'm just seeing this from my own perspective. I been caught out a lot with these assist issue a lot over the past few seasons. I'm just a tad disgruntled that's all. I've got no problem with the game it's just these assists. I don't really get it. Maybe their rules need updating. I just don't know

Interesting. With 2 hits I could get to this for GW28

    Randolph (Grant)
    Coleman, Baines, Mawson, McAuley (Alonso)
Mane, Firmino, Siggy, Phillips (de Roon)
    Lukaku (Costa) (Aguero)

Would set me up to play 5 2 3 afterwards - anyone tried that for any length of time before?

There's a lot of questions imo Nidge, I think as a minimum you would have to say that Brunt was aiming for McAuley rather than just putting it into the danger area.

        1. Somalion
          • 16 Years
          8 years, 11 months ago

Going back to previous decisions with FPL, they've taken a player's intention into account, where they judged a player to be trying to assist instead of shooting on goal.

If it was a shot, then Brunt may well have gotten the assist, but Boruc's first hit takes it entirely away from McAuley (not that it was going to him in the first place) and his second touch passes it straight to McAuley.

Weird one, no idea how they'll judge it but the two touches make it tough.

        2. Pep says
          • 10 Years
          8 years, 11 months ago

The assister often just sends it into the danger zone as opposed to picking a specific person. You saying Evans was aiming at McAuley last week

          1. Somalion
            • 16 Years
            8 years, 11 months ago

Maybe not aiming but if Evans had headed it across the goal as a pass and the keeper did what Boruc did only for McAuley to turn it in I'm not sure it'd be an assist either.

        • 16 Years

we know it was Brunt. Old assit rules would say it's an assist - but for new ones I'm not so sure. If a cross is pushed out by the goalkeeper and an attacker scores then there's no assist. But in this case the cross was pushed, but not out. Does that make a difference? I own Brunt and could do with the points, but I'm not convinced it should be given.

        1. Somalion
          • 16 Years
          8 years, 11 months ago

Think of it another way. If a ball came in and a defender loosely controlled it (1st touch) then accidentally mucked up and backheeled it into the path of an attacker (2nd touch) would they give an assist for that?

I don't know what the answer is but I'd not be shocked if they didn't get.

          1. Pasqualinho
            • 16 Years
            8 years, 11 months ago

It's that old slight deflection vs significant deflection question again, really. I think going back earlier in the season didn't Ibra get one when the keeper stopped one of his crosses? v Watford wasn't it? I don't see a great difference between that one and this one - but I think at the time everyone was questioning that that shouldn't have been given.

            1. Somalion
              • 16 Years
              8 years, 11 months ago

I cannot remember that for the life of me but I have no doubt whatsoever you're right! That first hit from Boruc is a significant deflection imo, it's just the second one puts it right back in McAuley's path. Did the Ibra cross have 2 deflections?

Brunt testing the FPL crew no end this season!

I've had Brunt, Coleman, and Mcauley just to be sure. Alonso in reserve...

Coleman, McAuley, Baines, Siggy and Lukaku (c) doing well with Costa & Hazard not doing too much damage. Decent week so far..

Coleman, Mcauley, Pedro, Lukaku (c), Siggy in for Phillips, Costa.

Mane and Eriksen to come, glorius stuff.
