Deadline passed, we’ve just the one match to distract us while we ponder the merits of our latest tinkerings. It’s off to Anfield for what is traditionally a cracker, as Liverpool face Newcastle – the Dugout Discussion chatroom is now open to soak up the match events as they happen…

The team news is in and there are few surprises amongst them. With Luis Suarez twiddling his thumbs after putting his one finger to use at Craven Cottage, Kenny Dalglish recalls Craig Bellamy in tandem with Newcastle old boy Andy Carroll. The script is there, can the big Geordie deliver?

Liverpool’s other change has Jay Spearing make a return, with Maxi Rodriguez making way. He joins Steven Gerrard on the bench.

As for Newcastle, they make just one change with Haris Vuckic drafted in for Leon Best who is amongst the subs. Demba Ba shakes off a “little knock” to his knee to lead the line, carrying the hopes of the travelling Magpies faithful and the expectations of plenty of Fantasy managers. Enjoy the game.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

People planning any punts before they wildcard?

Im thinking of wildcarding GW23 and in 22 the big clubs play each other so am thinking of maybe doing...

Adebayor (not eligible) > Torres, Carroll who have the easiest fixtures of the big teams?

Shit performance by Newcastle, utter rubbish.
Brilliant moment in the game though when a beautiful pass by Cabaye was nearly outrageously finished by Ba only to see Skrtel produce a wonderful bit of defending. Made the rest of the dross watchable.
Disgusting how much Sky w*nks over Liverpool and Gerrard in particular, thought broadcasters were supposed to remain relatively neutral. Shite punditry.

Changing the subject. There was talk on here the other day about whether or not 'saves' for a goalkeeper are cumulative in a DGW. I was fairly sure they were but LOADS of people on here were convinced that they weren't. I asked FPL and i can confirm that they ARE cumulative e.g if Friedel makes 4 saves in the first game against West Brom and then 2 against Everton he be awarded 2 points (for 6 total saves) rather than 1 point total (for the 4 saves against West Brom and 0 for 2 saves against Everton).

Still don't believe it until I see it on the FPL page. Under the "i" of the player, it will show as two games for the player & a score in each game. It will show 4 & 2 saves in 2 seperate games. Major flaw in the game if that happens. Still think it won't.

Like others have said - definitely not the case in previous seasons. however they've changed the transfer rules for this year so why not? As long as the rules are consistent for the season we can't have any complaints - not like it can mean more than an extra point (or two if you captain the keeper) anyway.

Can you post the question you sent and answer you received from FPL Towers in full? I really can't believe they are going to do it that way. This is one of those geeky details that matters to us for no real reason 🙂

        >
        > In GW20 i notice there are 2 games for both Tottenham and Everton due to the postponement earlier in the year. If you have a goalkeeper from one of these two teams do their total saves add up over both games? E.g if Friedel makes 4 saves in the first game against West Brom and then 2 against Everton would he be awarded 2 points (for 6 total saves) or would he get 1 point total (for the 4 saves against West Brom and 0 for 2 saves against Everton)?

        Hi James

        Thanks for your email.

The goalkeepers should receive points for the cumulative amount of saves, 2 points in your example.

        Regards

Thanks for that. I like the use of the word 'should' in their reply. Cue backtracking and confusion! 🙂 Will be interesting to see what actually happens (probably that neither keeper gets more than 3 cumulative saves).

Does the blade cut both ways?

Friedel gets cleansheet vs WBA, next game he lets one slide by against the Toffees, does he lose the 6 points down to 2 for the first match, I could have sworn that was how it was explained it worked last season. I honestly can't remember, nor did I bother to ever recruit a goalie of a DGW team.

No. He'd get 6pts for that WBA game and 2pts in the next = 8pts total.

Doesn't matter - it's only significant touches outside the box that negate the assist.

Looking at your team the only way I can see any realistic option would be to sacrifice Enrique and Jones to basement players then up grade Bale or maybe Gerrard > Nani. What ever your choice its a little bit of poison to take....

For anyone like me with no LIV or NEW players starting, I feel we got away lightly given a 3-1 scoreline. Not many will have Bellamy or Gerrard, whereas most have Enrique, Ba etc....
