Deadline passed, we’ve just the one match to distract us while we ponder the merits of our latest tinkerings. It’s off to Anfield for what is traditionally a cracker, as Liverpool face Newcastle – the Dugout Discussion chatroom is now open to soak up the match events as they happen…

The team news is in and there are few surprises amongst them. With Luis Suarez twiddling his thumbs after putting his one finger to use at Craven Cottage, Kenny Dalglish recalls Craig Bellamy in tandem with Newcastle old boy Andy Carroll. The script is there, can the big Geordie deliver?

Liverpool’s other change has Jay Spearing make a return, with Maxi Rodriguez making way. He joins Steven Gerrard on the bench.

As for Newcastle, they make just one change with Haris Vuckic drafted in for Leon Best who is amongst the subs. Demba Ba shakes off a “little knock” to his knee to lead the line, carrying the hopes of the travelling Magpies faithful and the expectations of plenty of Fantasy managers. Enjoy the game.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

You can hardly go with no chance. It may have touched him may not. How anybody can say with any real conviction is beyond me. Watched it half a dozen times and inconclusive is what it is.

And what is the most natural thing to do once scoring a goal? Celebrate. Ba ran straight to Cabaye, hinting he never touched it and to congratulate Cabaye on the goal.

          Can't assume that.

It seems to me that Ba did raise his arm to celebrate but may have realised that it went off Agger for the goal and is rather an own goal than his or Cabaye's.

Current team (this week's setup): http://i.imgur.com/rY1Sv.png

I need to make up 1.3M to fund Ba->Adebayor. Have 2 free transfers.

Should I downgrade Silva, Mata or Jones?

Currently leaning towards Silva as City are playing Liverpool and Spurs in their next 3 games.

Can you take him after those matches playing WC ?
I would have trade out Mata as his trade price(for you) and cost price won't have any difference but for Silva it should be 0.4 or 0.5

Ruddy & Walters > Howard & Drenthe sound good for next week? 4 point hit?

Drenthe & Howard are only short term for the double, will sort out with the WC, and hopefully have made a few quid on them.

    Sound good?

Cos the ref missed it. Tiote was involved in an aerial challenge just before and Probert was watching the aftermath of that, deciding whether to stop play or not.

Ba > Sturridge & Enrique > Walker or BAE (4 pointer) will be done sooner rather than later.

Thinking BAE as the cheaper option. Bit disappointed with Walker's stats considering how much he gets forward. Any opinions?

    Rang my pc-phobe dad tonight to ask him if he wanted to do anything with his team;

"I want that Carroll in, he's bound to score against Newcastle",

"You can't afford him dad, Sturridge is only 7.4"

    "Alright, i'll have Bellamy."

That took him 30 seconds, why does it take me hours of indecision and then I still get it wrong?!

Tricky one isn't it. Swaying towards Drenthe as he's cheaper, and is Osman a nailed on starter in the hole (Cahill a threat?)

Osman worth the extra outlay. Two double figure hauls in his last three. Drenthe on corners etc but more flaky.

Saying that I see minimal attacking returns for Everton over the two games. 1-0 v Bolton and a 2-0 loss to Spurs.

    Going into the DGW with

Adebayor, Bale, BAE, and Drenthe I think.

Not sure if anyone else is worth it, and realistically I can't get many other players in without getting rid of players I want to keep. The only other player I can think of doing easily is

Walters to Osman for a 4 pointer. Really doesn't look worth it to me.

How many DGwers are the rest of ya going for?

If there's one lesson I need to learn about fantasy football, it's that I shouldn't prioritise getting a defence with great fixtures for a gameweek over getting in a big hitter that's in form/has a great fixture.

Time and time again I focus too much on defenders, making transfers that invariably don't work and prevent me from getting highscoring attacking players in.

I blame my mathematically inclined brain. I enjoy studying the fixtures and trying to find patterns that lead to me having a five man defence, where at least three of them will have a good fixture (preferably at home) in any given week.

Unfortunately it often means that I end up with defenders from rubbish sides who never keep clean sheets. See Stephen Ward this year, and Gonzalo Jara last year, for prime examples.

Ruddy & Walters > Howard & Drenthe sound good for DGW next week? 4 point hit?

Drenthe & Howard are only short term for the double, will sort out with the WC, and hopefully have made a few quid on them.

Already have Ade, Bale, BAE, so will have 5 for DGW.

    Sound good?

Sounds like something. I really don't think Drenthe will do much. Howard may get you 8 points, but more likely to get you 4. You do the math, innit.
