As one of the most popular and consistent defenders in Fantasy Premier League, Seamus Coleman’s season-ending injury has sent many managers scouring the market in search of a replacement.

More than 153,000 have parted company over the international break, with Antonio Valencia, Leighton Baines and Kyle Walker currently the three most popular alternatives for the Irishman’s former owners.

With double Gameweek drama set to get underway in Gameweek 34, though, many are already starting to piece together their Wildcard plans for the run-in.

For now, then, a short-term replacement for Coleman, taking care of the next four rounds of fixtures, may well be enough for most before we start to focus further on the doubles.

In this latest article for Members, we mine the data to assess some of the main candidates across the price brackets.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    best replacement for crouch:
    A) Negredo
    B) Gestede
    C) Long ( incase Gabbiadini still injuried )
    D) Gabbiadini ( incase he is fit )

    best replacement for coleman
    1) valencia
    2) alonso

Something to consider if you are looking at Southampton centre-backs for your Coleman replacement:

Haven't really noticed the Soton centre backs tbh, wonder how Stephens compares to Yoshida he's been in the England U21s and we already know Yoshida's limitations, not exactly one for the future.

This is helpful. As a Yoshida owner I hope he retains the spot free the weekend and Stephens is the one who is rotated.

I'm on a wildcard and it's put me off both Yoshida and Stephens; it's too difficult to tell which 2/3 will start long-term.

I might get Bertrand and play 4-4-2.

Bertrand is definitely the safest play, not sure I'd want him over a fourth mid, but it could work well.

It would be over a 3rd striker and I only have about £7m to spend. I thing that he can match Negredo, Deeney or whoever starts for So'ton until Gabbiadini is back, and he's cheaper.

Yoshida is higher in pecking order then Stephans.
Virgi is assumed to be back end of April so Gw35, so thats more of a threat for Yoshida's spot for gw35 and 37.
I need to consider that too.

I need an FFS expertise on my WC team draft v5.67

    For Gw30.
    Valdes/Pickford
    Alonso/Walker/Valencia/Yoshida/Holgate
    Sanchez/Alli/Eriksen/Siggy/JWP
    Costa/Lukaku/Deeney
    0.1 itb
To become with 4 FT in gw34 with 5 dgw players.

    Valdes/Pickford
    Chambers/Walker/Valencia/Yoshida/Holgate
    Sanchez/Eriksen/Siggy/Zaha/King
    Costa/Lukaku/Ibra

And with just 3 hits in the proces becoming final team for gw37.

    Caballero/Pickford
Walker/Valencia/Yoshida/Holgate/Ake (highly probable he will play at least once)
Sanchez/Eriksen/Sane/King/Chelsea Mid to 6.8 (hopefully Fabregas)
    Costa/Aguero/Defoe

Thinking about playing BB in gw34 as in gw37 Sanchez or Aguero has great 3C potential.

All suggestions are more then welcome. Cheers.

I mostly like it but I'm not sure about the Fabregas and Ake plan. Why target DGWers that won't start both matches?

Not sure that I'd bother with Zaha either, he tends to score against weaker teams and Palace don't have many fixture left against them.

I'd either keep JWP or go for a cheaper 5th mid (c.£4.5m with a DGW37) and upgrade Ake, and possibly Holgate.

        That's great insight.
Regarding Zaha its just about possible BB and cause his fixtures (LEI, TOT+liv, BUR) are slightly better then JWP's (MCI, che, HUL) so I can bench Deeney, Costa and Eriksen those weeks (now sounds not that convincing...)
I can keep him or change for Moses as 5th mid.

Don't know what would I do with Chelsea. Just a projection. When they have title secured Conte may play second squad to avoid injuries till the end but with rotation, hmm.., Kante may be the only safe pick then...

I spent ages looking at BB'ing in GW34 but I don't think that it is worth it. Zaha, Valdes, Chambers, +1 looks like a good BB but you are actually using it to play Pickford, Yoshida, Holgate +1, who are all easily benched that week.

You could get King + a £4.5mid and do King > Zaha in GW33/34, if you didn't want to miss out on his DGW.

I'd also be weary of Yoshida because of Caceres (see my post two above).

That is a great piece of advice! Thanks.
Planning to use it in gw37 but there are some stunning 3C picks like Sanchez and Aguero... thinking of King vs Dgw Boro in gw 34... really stuck here...

Seen post about Saints rotation. The options for Yoshida are Robertson (no dgw) and Kaboul/Proedl (woeful defence in general but great fixtures).
            Have u considered them?

    Heaton -- Foster
    Walker -- Alonso -- Baines -- Brunt -- Robertson
Mané -- Coutinho -- Sigurdsson -- Antonio* -- de Roon
    Costa -- Lukaku - Llorente

I've done Coleman > Walker already, and plan to do:
    - Antonio > Alli
    - Coutinho > Sanchez (-4)

The following week I will likely do:
    - Costa > Ibrahimovic

Problem is, I need 0.8m to make up the difference. I'm annoyingly 0.1m short of Brunt > 4.3m defender, future price changes aside. For a -4, which of the below is best?

    A) Could downgrade Baines to MID/SOU defender (Worth it? Helps DGW prep.)
    B) Mané > 8.6m midfielder (Mané at annoying price point but lush fixtures)
    C) Llorente > Gray/Barnes/Niasse (Doesn't feel too inspiring)
    D) Baines > Holgate (which could fund Brunt > Valencia later?)

True but I don't trust any of them. They're plenty of good options atm, but no real sure fire bets, so I'm willing to go for value to reduce the stakes.

depends who else you have in defence. e.g I have Alonso and Valencia, so not really considering Walker even though I could afford, as this doesn't leave me adequate funds for the Sanchez return party next week

I honestly think Spurs will thrash them, Burnley aren't in great form and don't have much to play for anymore. If they had Kane I could see them putting 3 or 4 past them. Without, pfft, lets say 0-2 or 0-3.

Last time Burnley conceded more than 2 at home was centuries ago. As to the "poor form", their last 4 games were away.

Their last home game was 1-1- with Chelsea.

They haven't won since GW23 which was against Ranieri's Leicester. Since then they have faced Watford, Chelsea, Hull, Swansea, Liverpool and Sunderland. No wins, conceded 9. They are much better at home, but Spurs often roll over the weaker teams when they are in form - and Spurs are in good form now with lots to play for. Burnley are safe.

    I haven't considered Fuchs.

    I still don't.

Not interested either. Already have Valencia and Alonso, so I would be most interested in Spurs.

I had him earlier in the year during a good run of relatively easier games, thinking Leicester were still more or less good like last year, and the production was awful. However, it's a different team under the new coach, and putting emotions aside from the previous bad buy, he could be worthwhile, especially at that price.

Which midfielder is the best differential? And is it worth it going for him instead of a spurs midfielder?

Starting to lean towards keeping Coleman till he comes back.

Might punt on PvA but Walker and Valencia just feel like they're bound to irritate me.

Seamus to be back in a few weeks? :'(

Can't even replace him with Brady... May still go Kolarov.

You have both Walker and Valencia? If yes, then maybe get someone like Chambers and use the funds elsewhere

Are you going to get all weird and prop him up in a rocking chair and keep talking to him like he's still alive?

Well obviously, he'd still do a better job than most RBs.

If it were up to me, he'd play forever...ton.
