This morning we reveal the qualifiers and the first round draws for both our Fantasy Premier League cup competitions. This follows the qualification rounds which took place in Gameweek 29.

Over in the open-to-all cup, 505 managers join former winners donnellyc, Jonty, Gribude, Mch, Wild Rover and our reigning champion A Manager With No Name, along with myself, in this first knock-out round of the competition, which takes place over Gameweek 30.

The qualifying cut-off score for this cup was a demanding 80 points, with rank deciding entry for those who scored exactly that tally in Gameweek 29; you had to be placed in 4,276th spot or better if you scored 80 points.

A scan of the draw reveals that the current champion will immediately have it all to do if he is to regain the crown; Ranked at 34,806 in the world, “A Manager Has No Name” has been drawn with “Flying Nugget”, an opponent placed some 32,205 places above him in the overall standings.

MCH and Gribude are other former winners that look set to be tested in the opening round. The latter has drawn “themightydave“, a manager currently placed a very respectable 13,095 in the world, while MCH faces an even sterner test, up against the “upthemiddle” who is placed 9,207 in the world.

Meanwhile, the top ranked manager in the tournament – “Hana” who is 47th – is part of a opening round glamour tie: their opponent Ginola 14 is placed 8,439 and will smell a giant killing.

The full first round draw can be found here.

Meanwhile, over in the Members Cup, we have 510 managers joining two former winners in the first round as Fuzzy Dunlop and Trigg gain byes.

The qualifying score was 75 points: you had to be ranked 88,995 or better if you scored that tally.

The full first round draw can be found here.

Billy Ketsu, as the leader of our FFS Members League, is the top ranked manager in the tournament – they are currently placed 39th in the world and in the mix for the FPL crown. Emckay is the unfortunate FPL manager who has the task of facing the high-flyer in the opening round.

Elsewhere, we have to spare a thought for “Fat B*d“. Placed a lofty 3,305 in the world, they have somehow managed to draw higher ranked opponents in both competitions. They will face our very own moderator Spencer – ranked 3166 – in this cup, while over in the open-to-all version, they take on Vice – ranked 2537 in the world.

FFS Cups Round Dates
Qualifying – Gameweek 29

Round 1 – 512 teams – Gameweek 30
Round 2 – 256 teams – Gameweek 31
Round 3 – 128 teams – Gameweek 32
Round 4 – 64 teams – Gameweek 33
Round 5 – 32 teams – Gameweek 34
Round 6 – 16 teams – Gameweek 35
Quarter-Final – 8 teams – Gameweek 36
Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 37
Final and third place play-off – 2 teams – Gameweek 38

There is £350 in Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk vouchers up for grabs for the final top three managers in both tournaments.

Good luck to all those involved and if you would like more information on the schedule and prizes click this link.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

On my WC. Just realised that instead of.....

    Walker, Valencia, Yoshi, Holgate, Pieters

    ....I could have .....

    Alonso, Valencia, Yoshi, Holgate, Davies

    ......for 0.1 m more.

    Made my day 🙂

Prefer the second one to be honest, Davies will play for another 3 weeks most likely (maybe more - see Lamela), and if Rose does come back then you can always bring in a Boro defender for 34

Not FPL. Dortmund sign Dahoud. I just love the way they go about their transfer business. English clubs miles behind some of the European clubs in finding value in transfer market.

Haha. Good one. But I think EPL is producing some really good talent. It's just that the English players don't go there and for most of the players EPL has become a stepping stone to go to Barca or Real which is sad.

Davies is not a certain starter, unless they play 5 at the back and drop dier which I think is unlikely. Seems like a transfer out in 3 weeks to me.

    Bottom of last page, sorry:

    (1) If I do Rondon-Vardy, I'll have a bench dillema and must play McAuley vs United:

    Valencia Mawson (McAuley Pieters FM)
    Mané Eriksen Alli Siggy King
    Vardy Lukaku Llorente

Sadly, AOA chip not available any more.

    (2) If I do FM-Alonso, I bench Rondon, accept his price fall, have three good defenders and captain Mané or Siggy.

    1 or 2?

Tough decision, could do with some opinions:

Def - Baines, Coleman, Olsson, Valencia, fodder
Mid - Firm, Mane, Siggy, King, Antonio
    Fwd - Aguero, Llorente, Lukaku

    0.4 itb, 1 FT.

    A) Do nothing. Bench Coleman, bench Antonio, play Baines. Use 2 FT next week to get in Sanchez and X for Aguero and Antonio/Siggy.

    B) Bring in Bavies or Bertie, bench Baines. -4 next week for Sanchez.

    C) Bring in Tadic, Pedro or Mata for Antonio, play Baines. -4 next week for Sanchez.

    D) Aguero for Vardy, play Baines. Sanchez for Mane/Firm for free next week.

So many options that I'm starting to think doing nothing may be best. Especially with post international gameweeks usually being lower scoring.

    Heaton/PIckford
    Valencia Alonso Baines Pieters Amat
    Mane Firmino Siggy Lanzini Fletcher
    Costa Lukaku Llorente

    30. Baines > Walker
    31. Firmino > Sanchez, Llorente > Gabbi -4
    32. Mane > Alli and possibility of Costa to Ibra

    Couple questions please:

    1) Now that Gabbiadini is ruled out is Evans -> Davies (-4) worth it? 4-4-2, or play Tom Carroll (mid)?
    2) Need some help bringing in Sanchez next GW:

    Heaton
    Alonso Valencia Baines Evans/Davies
    Mane Alli Siggy Lanzini
    Aguero Lukaku

(Pickford Gabbi T.Carroll Holgate) £3m banked

GW31: Aguero -> Ibra looks likely, leaves £4.3m in the bank (if i dont do Davies move this week), can then make Siggy -> Sanchez
    OR
Proceed with bringing in Davies for Spurs cover and swap Mane (BOU) -> Sanchez

I have just under 4m ITB burning a hole in my pocket also, was looking at Siggy > Sanchez but seems silly. Teams are good, no need for hits.

Sadly I have no WC and can't afford a transfer to get Davies back out when Rose returns. Vertonghen it is...

Gareth McAuley has signed a new one-year contract at West Brom. Deal will keep him in Premier League past his 58th birthday. #wba

A couple of WC questions, just final 2 decisions to make. Don't want to bring in anyone short term (Davies) to give myself the headache of a transfer later. So anyone with any more knowledge of Southampton & Middlesborough - please stand up!

    1) Yoshida worth the extra .2 over Stephens or both as nailed as each other? Surprised there is v little talk about Stephens but looks ads about Yoshida. Is VVD out for season?

    2) Is Fabio nailed? Started 15 of the last 17. Or does his place come under threat once Chambers / Friend return?

    Cheers lads!

1 Yes..Caceres could challenge Stephens for the spot
      2 New manager..unsure

Cheers you think Caceres & Yoshida first choice CBS for rest of season?

And no one other than Gibson worth considering in MID defence?

Either one could be dropped and Southampton aren't good at the back. Davies will get a least 3/4 gw's by the sounds. I'd be getting him in!

          Nothing's too much in fpl
I had Coleman and Baines double up for the last few GWs

In that case no i probably wouldn't because it restricts you to 1 of Kane, Alli or Eriksen

If you are playing him every week which i guess you intend to, the hit should pay off.

Palace are now tight in defense, 3 consecutive cleanies

      I'd say 1-0 or 2-0

If you on WC then Cedric. If you still got WC intact then Davies.

Surely Davies has the potential to outscore Cedric by 4 points over the next few fixtures
