Deadline passed, we’ve just the one match to distract us while we ponder the merits of our latest tinkerings. It’s off to Anfield for what is traditionally a cracker, as Liverpool face Newcastle – the Dugout Discussion chatroom is now open to soak up the match events as they happen…

The team news is in and there are few surprises amongst them. With Luis Suarez twiddling his thumbs after putting his one finger to use at Craven Cottage, Kenny Dalglish recalls Craig Bellamy in tandem with Newcastle old boy Andy Carroll. The script is there, can the big Geordie deliver?

Liverpool’s other change has Jay Spearing make a return, with Maxi Rodriguez making way. He joins Steven Gerrard on the bench.

As for Newcastle, they make just one change with Haris Vuckic drafted in for Leon Best who is amongst the subs. Demba Ba shakes off a “little knock” to his knee to lead the line, carrying the hopes of the travelling Magpies faithful and the expectations of plenty of Fantasy managers. Enjoy the game.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

          I might be wrong of course, but this is maybe the worst time of the season not to have 15 playing players (maybe except for the last couple o' GWs of the season).

      Osman = safer option (started 17 of 18 games)
      Drenthe = potentially more points (imo)

      so it depends if you want to gamble or want to be sure the player palys both

            Haha, nah, but I would've been amazed if Wenger benched him for a number of reasons. The record, the fact we are hopeless up front without him and we need a good performance after the WOL disappointment, not wanting to p*ss of his best player and captain prior to upcoming contract negotiations etc etc.

            We'll probably lose 1-0 now....

    a) JEvans -> BAE
    b) Ramsey -> Drenthe/Osman/Lennon, or
    c) Wilko & Ramsey -> BAE & Drenthe (4 point hit)

    Westwood, Ruddy
    Vermaelen, JEvans, Caulker, Simpson, Wilko

        I'm not sure - I'd only consider him if he was confirmed fit (which I guess is unlikely in the next 2 days....)

        swaying towards c) at the moment. Normally don't like hits, but will be bringing in 2 DGWers. Also, I think JEvans is worth hanging on to as he'll be back soon and appears likely to play when fit.

    Off (and very old) topic:

    I'm still confused about the Tevez fiasco. Did he refuse to warm up because he didn't want to play or did he refuse to warm up because he had already warmed up and didn't believe that he needed to again. Neither option speaks well of his character, but the first is far more outrageous.

    So, 1 or 2? (Or some other alternative?) Thanks 😉

      No-one knows, and frankly I don't think anyone cares anymore. The guy's a twat. Fantastic footballer, but unfortunately a twat.

    If Donovan plays who is benched? Is it a winge? (is Donovan rw or lw? Will it send drench to the bench?) is he playing for Cahill in the hole? Is he playing for saha?

        Of course this question was to people who KNOW - based on last time, based on his role in the MLB and based on articles.

          Just teasing. Your questions are good and I, for one, would like to know the answers to them. Would love to have Donovan in my squad!

            Was having a quick look around. Think he played wide right of a midfield 5 last time he was at Everton. So whoevers out there (Coleman?) may be at risk

      So many questions! With no real info to go on, i would sit tight. Im sure there will be a scout artice on him soon which will outline where he will most likely fit in. No danger of price rises so don't panic yourself

        Just got a response, Moyes says Donovan will "roam freely between Saha and the midfield. He will also teach the other players how to use Buddihst mind-melding techniques to subvert the intentions of the opposition" (whatever that means).

        [Drinking whiskey, so freely ignore. What McEwan said.]

    Best defender for GW20 costing no more than £4.1M?

    All I can see are Caulker, Gabbidon and Hanley. Not sure i'd play any of them over Enrique.

      Out of these 3, maybe only Caulker has a chance over Enrique. But you need to play JE just for his crosses & attacking potential, irrespective of his fixture.

    With the DGW looming which combo would you suggest to narrow a 50pt deficit in my mini-league?:

    Baines / Drenthe or Jags / Osman

    I already have Spurs coverage (Ade, VDV, BAE).

        None have Everton coverage.

        Several have Ade & Bale.

        My aim is to make my GW20 transfers today / tomorrow morning then do my wildcard ASAP (as the earliest it will take effect is GW21) so as to negate any price rise to those I temporarily remove.

          Sounds good. I'd do B/D but frankly I'm not that confident that Drenthe will see significant game time (now that you-know-who is in town). Still, Baines is a treat.
