Sergio Aguero finds the net again in a four-goal stalemate at the Emirates Stadium. Shkodran Mustafi and Theo Walcott stake a claim for consideration, while Middlesbrough’s defence nullifies Gylfi Sigurdsson ahead of their double Gameweek 34.

On the Rise

Sergio Aguero
The fourth most-captained player for the Gameweek, City’s frontman scored for the third time in four appearances as he hints at a return to the consistent form of old.

Sitting in over 21% of FPL squads, Aguero was arguably earmarked as a placeholder for Zlatan Ibrahimovic by many, given that United will play ten times in the final eight Gameweeks.

Although the Swede is now free from suspension for the midweek clash against Everton, Aguero’s improved recent showings gives us food for thought, with many perhaps persuaded to retain his services in spite of that lofty 12.7 price tag.

Leroy Sane
The German’s influence in the final third continues to blossom after he bagged the opener at the Emirates.

Sane has now started each of City’s last eight league matches, with today’s strike meaning he has produced an goal or assist on five of those occasions.

Priced at 7.5, he’s the cheapest of Guardiola’s attacking regulars and boasts a mere 3% ahead of nine fixtures in the remaining eight Gameweeks.

Granted, a midweek trip to Chelsea may deter us for now, yet City’s remaining schedule certainly looks ripe for investment, with home encounters against Hull, Palace, Leicester City and West Brom, allied with trips to the likes of Middlesbrough and Watford.

Shkodran Mustafi
The Arsenal centre-half proved an unlikely source of points, returning a goal and assist in this afternoon’s home draw with Man City.

Having produced just a goal and assist in the opening 29 fixtures, Mustafi has dropped to 5.8 in price ahead of the Gunners’ run of ten matches in the remaining eight Gameweeks.

Sitting in just 1% of FPL squads, he could prove a viable alternative to Laurent Koscielny after the Frenchman was forced off at the break, though a run of one clean sheet in seven – conceding two or more in five of the last six – is indicative of their lack of resilience right now.

Theo Walcott
Sitting in just 4% of FPL squads, the Arsenal winger has now scored in three successive home matches across all competitions ahead of a midweek clash with West Ham at the Emirates.

While there’s no doubt that Alexis Sanchez – in spite of today’s rare blank – remains the likeliest source of points among Arsene Wenger’s regulars, Walcott could yet emerge as a potential double-up option in light of those ten remaining matches.

With clashes against Palace, Middlesbrough and Leicester following on from that Hammers encounter, a price of 7.3 may start to turn heads if he can steer clear of rotation.

Ben Gibson, Victor Valdes
With a double Gameweek 34 against Bournemouth and Sunderland just around the corner, the Middlesbrough backline made a timely return to form by recording a second away clean sheet in ten attempts.

That poor run of defensive displays persuaded over 169,000 FPL managers to name Gibson on the bench this weekend, while Valdes was handed a sub role by almost 168,000.

Priced at 4.9, Gibson has played every minute of the season so far and is more than 30 points ahead of any defensive team-mate as Steve Agnew’s side prepare for a decent run that also includes clashes with Hull City and Burnley in the next two.

For those planning an early Wildcard, Valdes – at 4.6 – could also play a factor in our plans, with the Spaniard earning an additional save point in six of his last seven league outings.

In Decline

Gylfi Sigurdsson
It’s fair to say that expectations were high for the Swansea City man ahead of Gameweek 30 – Sigurdsson was the most-captained player amongst the top 100, with 20 handing him the armband.

While there’s no questioning his consistency – today’s blank was only a third in 11 matches under Paul Clement – the Icelandic international’s goal touch has deserted him of late. Ahead of a testing midweek home encounter with Spurs, Sigurdsson has now failed to score in six successive league outings.

The sixth most popular FPL midfielder, residing in 19.1% of squads, Sigurdsson then faces West Ham, Watford and Stoke City between Gameweek 32-34 – a run that’s likely to persuade most to retain for the short-term, at least.

Yet Swansea’s lack of a double Gameweek further down the line means that many will feel that the playmaker is surplus to requirement once our Wildcards come into play for the run-in.

Fernando Llorente
The sixth most transferred in player for Gameweek 30, Llorente was acquired by over 84,000 FPL managers ahead of a favourable home encounter with ‘Boro.

Yet his 14% owners were left disappointed after he was ruled out with an ankle injury this afternoon.

With Paul Clement still uncertain over his availability for Wednesday’s clash with Spurs, the Spaniard has already been sold by over 12,000 owners as the fixtures come thick and fast.

At a time when double Gameweeks are set to occupy our planning, the Llorente exodus now looks likely to escalate ahead of Tuesday’s deadline.

Laurent Koscielny
Boasting a 13% ownership, Arsenal’s top scoring defender was forced off at the break after suffering a recurrence of a long-term achilles complaint.

Given his history with the same injury, there has to be concerns over Koscielny’s availability for the midweek match against West Ham, while Wenger may well decide to be somewhat cautious with his compatriot’s fitness in light of that busy run-in.

While Mustafi clearly took the chance to impress, any length of absence for Koscielny would promote the cheaper Gabriel – at just 4.8 – as a budget-friendly route into the Gunners’ rearguard, though that aforementioned defensive record is hardly enticing.

Raheem Sterling
Hauled off at the break for tactical reasons, the City winger has produced back-to-back blanks for the first time since Gameweek 14.

In his most consistent Fantasy season to date, Sterling had served up a goal or assist in nine of 11 outings prior to being rested for the second match of double Gameweek 27.

Today’s substitution means he’s played just one-and-a-half of his side’s last three league fixtures. At a time when Sane is going from strength to strength on the opposite flank, Sterling’s 12% owners may be reconsidering their options.

What to do with this squad? Very tempted to make a short term move for Origi as I dont have any liverpool coverage but ideally I would ditch Vardy after this Gw and get Ibra. Any insights much appreciated!

    (1) Mane + Snoddy to Sanchez + Coutinho (bench Llorente and play King)
    (2) Mane + Llorente to Coutinho + Ibra (bench King, play Ibra but no Sanchez)
    Both -4.

Easy enough if you have a WC, keep Kun until 34, get rid for Ibra, and then it's only one week til GW36 when you'd obv play your WC. If you dont have your WC left then I'd prob still get rid of Kun GW34, but it's a little harder haha

I got back up to 11th tonight after dropping down to 17th on Saturday. I just cannot seem to crack into the top 10.

I think in points I am a bit closer to OR1 than I was though.

Just trying to weigh up whether it is worth using a transfer up on bringing Vardy in as he would be the obvious captaincy on Tuesday. Is one captaincy worth it? I just do not know.

I think a transfer in FPL is woth less. You can always take another hit in FPL geting Vardy is potentially a big improvement over a Lukaku captain on that same day (which is my best other option) It just seems bit of a waste

so at around 25%. That can't be too bad, I guess I have a couple of guys to play. No idea if they are any good though.

Potential question marks around most of those defenders at the moment.

      BDavies - Rose due back.
Chambers - Still awaiting injury news / may not be straight back in the team
Holgate - Likely to play but no guarantee, also Everton not looking great for CS with fixtures and FM, Coleman and Schneiderlein out

Bavies will get next 3/4 games
Chambers not sure after today, might as well get Barragan
Holgate is way too risky imo

BDavies: want him for next few GWs to free cash for my attacks
Chambers: Owned him from before so waiting on his news
Holgate: 4.0 is the reason and his fixture on 32, 33.

Never played more than 3 defenders, given the choice. Considering their fixtures, I thought I could rotate among them to get 3 decent players/fixtures to start.

Thank you for pointing it out. Will consider everything until the last minute tomorrow:D

Chambers is nailed when injury free, as centre-back.
But he has also a game versus Arsenal whom he can´t play cause of those loan rules so can´t be used then (unlikely that anyone want to use him in that kind of match anyhow, but you never now, all of a sudden you are one defender short and no one to replace in case of injurys or no-show). Barragan is an option, but Valdes looks like the best (cheapest) alternative in Boro´s defence, imo

You know how all weekend I've bored you to death over the way I thought I had captaincy on intended Vardy but it was on Lukaku...simply by being a pillock and forgetting Vardy also plays in blue and not checking/looking properly.

Well that cost me 5 points. Quite precious this GW, especially as I took a hit.

Not only that I would have won by Members FFS tie by 1 point!

And easily qualified for Jarvish's frequent poster cup!

Thankfully this blunder didn't cost me my LMS place.

Who to move out 1st and who would be an ideal replacement?

My cheap defenders have good prospects this week. Wanna play 4 of them but don't wanna bench King.
    Who to bench:
    (1) B Davies
    (2) Holebas
    (3) Ward of Burnley
    (4) Robertson
    (5) King

I don't know I can't understand why Studge ain't getting time. It's not just injuries Klopp does. It like him obviously. It he has to be a danger to Origi.
For that money or less not many deliver consistently.

Doesn't fit Klopp's style I guess and Origi does.

So taken a -4 already for Mane and Coleman to
    Bavies and Alli
    Anything else worth a hit?
Considering Cout for Hazard it would free up funds for Kane or Ibra too as I will keep Kaku.

    Heaton (Jaku)

    Davies Valencia Alonso
    (Stones Lenihan)

Sanchez (C) Hazard Alli Siggy King

    Lukaku Deeney (Lorente)

think you'll have to choose beween 3-4-3 and 3-5-2, and get a fodder ala de Roon / Barnes. Your TV is not strong enough to justify such a strong bench. sorry :p

            Yeah ye are both right.
Llorente or Deeney will become total fodder and the other will be Kane or Ibra.
Had some cash tried and AOA massive fail as 2 of front 3 did not play.

Had planned to do Mane/Kun -> Sanchez/Ibra for a -4, as a lot of other had. Have decided to keep Kun and get Ibra in a little later. So my only other enabling moves for Sanchez are:

    A) Lanzini -> Zaha
    B) Daniels -> Yoshida
    C) Just stick to Kun -> Ibra

    Current Team:

    Foster / Pickford
    Alonso/Valencia/Daniels/Brunt/Love
    Mane/Alli/Siggy/Lanzini/King
    Aguero/Lukaku/Gray

    Any advice welcomed 🙂

Carroll will score against Arsenal and Lorente will not play vs Spurs, so hit is paid back instantly

Did other players go up by less?

No which is weird. 2 players up .1 4 down .1

But this is a 6.5 striker who scored a hat trick(Last season there were 3 or 4)

He also had 2k transfers in through 1 day 3% of all players. Equivalent of 140k transfers in on one gameday

But still idk doesn't seem like a glitch

Performance based or transfer based maybe. Good thing FPL isn't like that

Ya .5 up seems way too volatile. Haven't read rules in depth because its Norwegian, but people have been discussing on the article because they are asleep, but I bet people will get mad and email them tomorrow.
