Harry Kane’s ruthless quest for goals, Jose Mourinho’s worrying inclination to surprise and an approaching set of fixtures that may just provide our sternest test of the season.

Here’s our three-point conclusion to Gameweek 33.

The Player

Harry Kane is now an almost irresistible force.

In a season that has seen Sergio Aguero fade to become a source of frustration, Tottenham’s top scorer is surely destined to claim the status as the primary heavy-hitting striker for seasons to come.

Romelu Lukaku still leads in the scoring charts and his tussle with Kane promises to be a fascinating struggle for the remainder of the campaign – one that could still play a major role in our remaining Gameweek tallies.

Make no mistake, Kane is motivated to retain the gong he claimed with 25 goals last term. Still targeting 30 this time around, the Spurs talisman demonstrated in the 4-0 win over Bournemouth that he can combine a selfish goal-hungry streak with the ability to play in team-mates and contribute assists.

In a Spurs side fully motivated to win each of their remaining matches, and with the weaponry and confidence to achieve that ambition, Kane’s potency cannot be questioned.

He is surely destined to be locked into our squads until the final kick. The only real question hangs over the captaincy and whether, in any given Gameweek, there is a player who can contest with Spurs and their prolific spearhead.

The Team

Spurs may well be untouchable at present, but without Manchester United’s intervention in the title race Chelsea would arguably be home and dry already.

Jose Mourinho’s side took everyone by surprise in Sunday’s win over the Blues – not least Antonio Conte.

And yet we should have known to back the United manager to go to great lengths against Conte and his league leaders.

There is clearly no love lost between the two managers, with Mourinho taking great pleasure in achieving victory having seen his side dismantled 4-0 at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season.

A new gameplan involving the omission of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in favour of the mobility of Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard proved decisive.

For us Fantasy managers, it introduces a new and unwelcome variable to the approaching Double Gameweek puzzle.

Ibrahimovic was for so long an assured acquisition and captain for Gameweek 34. Now he presents us with a degree of concern, given United’s relentless schedule and Rashford’s convincing audition for the striker’s role.

Thursday’s Europa League tie with Anderlecht is now the vital cog in United’s end of season plan – and our own scheming.

If the European adventure continues, the chances of Ibrahimovic providing us with three successive Gameweek starts against Burnley, Man City and Swansea City prior to a UEFA semi-final will surely be radically reduced.

The Talking Point

The Ibrahimovic dilemma remains central to our considerations for the Double Gameweek 34 – a set of fixtures that present us with one of the biggest challenges of 2016/17.

We are well aware of the impact that Double Gameweeks can have on our seasons but, as raised in last night’s intense ScoutCast, there are many who look on this forthcoming scenario as a daunting prospect.

The United striker is unquestionably a stand-out option, but perhaps only if he can be acquired without the loss of points or significant assets elsewhere.

Absorbing points hits in order to obtain a key asset in a Double Gameweek is often acceptable, but only if the player(s) brought in offer some assurances that they will reward us.

When we’re removing the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson and Alexis Sanchez – pivotal figures with home fixtures and high goal involvement for their respective sides – in order to manufacture the arrival of Ibrahimovic, the hit becomes less palatable.

The likes of Wilfried Zaha, Andros Townsend and Christian Benteke – for all their flair and convincing statistics – are unpredictable and undeniably frustrating assets.

Equally, Middlesbrough, now plunged into desperate times, can no longer offer us security at the back and remain a struggling force in attacking terms.

Couple that with United and their punishing schedule and a manager who, only on Sunday, demonstrated his ability to shock, and Gameweek 34 presents a heady mix of uncertainty.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Triple Captaincy Dilemma:
Which of the following should I do?:
    A. TC Zlatan in GW 34
    B. TC Luakaku in GW 34
    C. TC Negredo in GW 34
    D. TC Kane in GW 38
    E. TC Costa/Hazard in GW 38
    F. Any other ideas.

For those worried about Palace attacking assets for the DGW, I'm not saying they can't be shut out, but just note that Spurs have kept 4 clean sheets in 15 matches on the road (and they were to Stoke, Bournemouth, Sunderland, and Burnley), and Pool have kept 4 clean sheets in 16 at home (to a mix of attacking quality (United, Sunderland, City, Spurs)).

There's no reason why Palace can't produce goals in both matches.

        I'm considering it 🙂

I did it last week, too, and felt a bit cheated that he didn't get a haul. He was close.

I'll probably follow the herd and captain Ibra this week, but I don't think a Benteke captaincy is punty at all.

        Yo! Need some pro tips.

        Valdes(Pickford)
        Alonso, Chambers, Holgate(Fuchs,Stephens)
        Alli, Erikssen, Sanchez, Zaha
        Kane, Benteke, Lukaku

0 FT, 1,9 ITB and ive used my 2nd Wildcard.

Am I G2G or should I take a hit for any player that also would be good för the GWs to come. For the following GWs I will prolly do:

GW 35: Beneteke --> Gabbi(Depends how they both look, but Gabbi has 2 DGW)
GW 36: Alli/Eriksen --> Hazard(Chelsea good fixtures and all Home, good for Hazzy + risky to have 3 offensive spurs players)
        GW 37(BB): Conquelin --> JWP
Sanchez --> De Bruyne(Depending how Sanchez looks)

Im also tempted to bring in Firminio instead of Zaha, but we will see. Ive no idea what to do with my defenders so please drop a comment or two 🙂

I found the views of the scouts very strange for this upcoming DGW options. So harsh on Boro defense who have 2 CS in the last 4. They do well defensively against the lower teams. Yet they thought PVA or Hennesey as better options (CS in any of their matches is almost impossible). Also very dismissive of Palace attacking assets who have beaten Chelsea and Arsenal recently while scoring 5 goals as well. Spurs is a tough game but so was Chelsea. Liverpool is a leaky defense same way Arsenal is. Not to mention Palace's recent record against Liverpool at Anfield. I wouldn't be surprised if Palace scored 3 goals over the 2 games. I'd be surprised if they scored less.

Boro can't sit back anymore though, so unlikely to keep CS. Agree with Palace's goal threat.

Maybe but I don't see Utd scoring a lot of goals. If you are taking out Lukaku for a hit it could backfire badly. Lukaku can easily get a brace against a dire Westham.

I think the big problem we face in dgw34 is the one's we are looking to sell \like siggy sanchez lukaku have great fixtures

I wouldn't get Negredo because of Boro's weak goal threat. I'd definitely get a defender or maybe double up (I'm WCing in GW35). I decided to ignore Ibra to keep Sanchez against Leceister. I sold Siggy who has blanked in many plum fixtures in a row. Someone has to go.

I can see Martial and Rashford starting against Burnley at the expense of Ibra

Mourinho is known the get reactions from his players and he's called Martial to prove him wrong. Burnley game might be the perfect game to do so. Agree ?

It has been probably the worst season so far. Not just rankwise (I think around 180k, don't even check) but also just frustrating that you just feel something is missing in your decisions that you normally deliver or feel fine even it's a failure. Pretty sure you'd understand if you had, say decent 3 seasons in a row but now somehow you feel it's kinda falling apart and can't be confident that things will turn around.

Today, I had a great day. I told my landlord to piss off because he was just moaning about the contract and conditions etc. I genuinely felt so much better afterwards and sorry to that mindset which is obsest with contract & terms conditions, nothing more to it. Maybe that's why I will never be a rich person but hey, who gives a flying toss. A car, decent job, working with cool dudes, wife happy, life too..

What has to do with FPL?

Well I checked this weird pattern inside & outside and decided my escape route to console my ego and found something can actually turn the things around. Not surprisingly, it wasn't shag.

First time I feel confident in FPL this season. I'm sober before you destroy me with banter reply.

        It is that man. San(c)hez

        A) Williams + Daniels
        B) Gibson + Bailly (-8)

Thoughts here? Considering only doing Williams > Bailly for a (-4).

My FT will be Deeney > Negredo.
