Injuries

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has tonight suffered a knee injury which saw him hobble from the field in Manchester United’s Europa League victory over Anderlecht.

The striker fell awkwardly when leaping for a cross, appearing to hyperextend his knee joint. A stretcher was called, although the striker chose instead to make his own way from the field with the help of medical staff.

United also lost defender Marcos Rojo to injury in the same match on 23 minutes – also to a knee injury – with the Argentine now another major concern for Gameweek 34.

Post-match, Jose Mourinho was not keen to commit his views on both setbacks…

“I don’t think they’re easy injuries but I prefer to wait until all the tests are done”

However, when asked if he hoped the initial prognosis was “fairly positive” he replied “fairly negative” and confirmed them as likely bad injuries.

Further quotes then surfaced from Mourinho’s post-match press conference…

“My feeling is not good for both. I want to be optimistic but I’m not.”

Ibrahimovic has been the top attraction in the Fantasy Premier League transfer market ahead of United’s double Gameweek fixtures at Burnley and Manchester City – more than 89,000 had swooped early ahead of Saturday’s deadline to secure his services. His participation in those fixtures, and perhaps the season run-in, must now be in doubt.

The Swede’s absence paves the way for Marcus Rashford to maintain his recent run of form and step up. The 6.5 FPL option again put in a sparkling display and has now scored three goals in his last three outings in all competitions having struck United’s extra-time winner against the Belgians.

Rashford had already been brought in by 58,000+ ahead of United’s two fixtures, although there will be some concerns that he may be subject to a rest in the first fixture at Burnley on Sunday; the 19-year-old played 120 minutes and would perhaps need to be preserved for the City clash. Wayne Rooney, who returned to the bench for Thursday’s tie, could now be a factor at Turf Moor at least.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Lost on previous page....

I have Deeney and Vardy and 2 FT. I will probably do

    Vardy + Deeney -> Benteke + Negredo

Do you guys think it's stupid to use triple captain on one of them? I will use bench boost on GW37, so I should use the wildcard on 36, so i don't have much more options to use the triple captain...

I like the transfers, but not sure on the TC. Could be golden, and I am giving Negredo the armband because I think he could do something--to be honest, I expect more out of him than I got from my Aguero TC.

It's not the perfect option for a TC, but I don't see a better option, with the bench boost on 37 and wildcard on 36...

Start Valdes if you have him as he hasn't been ruled out of the 2nd game yet and Jaku will come in if he doesn't play that. I fancy a Boro cleanie at home to Sunderland more than a Hull one at home to Watford personally

    Pickford
    Alonso Valencia Robertson
    Eriksen Coutinho Sigy Zaha
    Aguero Lukaku Kane

    Heaton Davies TCarroll Amat

    1ft, 1.0 itb.

Toying with Gibson, De Gea, Negredo, Benteke, Rashford...but cant wrap my mind on it.

Logically, yes, he's nailed, but I understand your concern. I'm paranoid myself. TFM can come in for Bailly though I don't think that will happen. They're important games

Thanks. If Blind is nailed, I want him, although it just occurred to me that whichever one I get, I want him to play two in 37 as well, so that might point to Bailly . . . .

        1. UnitedFan
          • 10 Years
          8 years, 7 months ago

Yeah, if we can sure he'll play, Blind > Bailly due to bonus potential and some set-pieces. As for 37, I might switch my Utd defender to a City one as the fixtures in our double in 37 aren't that good for defensive prospects (tot, sou). That's my thinking at the moment anyway

I think Rashfor could get rested or managed minutes for Burnley, and in any event he is not tactically ideal for that match. City, who knows. Negredo plays two poor defences and appears re-energized. I am rolling the dice with Negredo.

          • 13 Years
          8 years, 7 months ago

Yeah, I suppose it depends on one's plans. I mean Negredo to become bench fodder straight after the DGW, and then go out for 37, so I don't mind. Meanwhile, Rashford might play both in 34, might not, or might not play Swansea, given the congested fixtures. Not an easy call though.

Mines a longer term plan so gone with Rashford. He was class tonight, If Utd get an early goal they will have to come out if their 6 yard box and play, he could destroy th in that case.... if they're camped for ages the. He won't be effective

I kind of like the idea of getting rid of Kun--I did. City play in the FA before they play United, so injuries are possible, and Jesus is apparently fit now, so the uncertainty made me want to get rid. So I might still do B.

It would have to be, yes. I've lost faith in him given Arsenal's form but I don't see many options. Perhaps Gabbiadini if he shows form before that.

One thing is for sure though, BB in 37 is the safest way to gain points. BB is practically guaranteed to get you 15-20 points if you have 15 DGWers, whereas a good TC call in a DGW will get you 20 if you're lucky, less if he doesn't do as well. Less risk if you play BB in 37 therefore.

            BB 37

            B) WC 35

Yep, that would work too. I'd love to say with any conviction that Sanchez in GW36 will outscore Benteke or Negredo now, but it's a coin toss.

        Alonso Valencia Mustafi (!)
        Sanchez Alli Eriksen Zaha
        Ibrahimovic Kane Negredo
        --------------------------------------
        Caballero JWP Holgate Yoshida

1.8m ITB, only BB left. Who to get for -4 (sigh) I'm leaning A) as I have no wildcard and wanted him from 36 anyway. Guess you could say B) and C) are effectively an extra -4 as no WC left and they'd only become Costa by 36 anyway.

        A) Costa
        B) Rashford
        C) Benteke

Cheers, could say Rash takes away the extra -4 bit as he may well be a season keeper if Ibra out for season

Mate, I did it with Firmino, Kane and Gabbiadini about a month ago too. I'm gonna add 16 points onto my overall at end of season and mentally torture myself all summer 😀

Ah Ibra, had him in since he came back from suspension (and no Kane) in prep for this dgw. It's a cruel blow!
Another downside is that my triple dgw forward line differential will no longer be that with every man and his dog getting in Benteke/Negredo now!
The only upside is that I can avoid a hit and bench him, playing my first sub (Eriksen).
            🙁

            -4 to get Ibra in

Now -4 to get him out

            whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Rashford looked good tonight and surely at his age he should get 60 against Burnley

Have Zaha so meh on Tekkers.

Question is, Rash in now (Possible rise tonight) Or wait on some news?

Well Ibra won't be playing Sunday so I can see Rashford starting, he's only a teenager.

I did an early Ibra tranny cause I was dealing with 0.0 itb earlier on in the week but I'll have a think

I dont think Rashford will start at Burnley.
              He's played 90-90-90-27-75-82-120 and he's only 19 years old.

            Sanchez Alli Son Siggy
            Benteke Lukaku Defoe

            Robles Ayew Mawson Robertson

            0FT 0.8m ITB. Anything for a hit?

Valencia -> Bailly to Free up funds to get Negredo in or keep 3-5-2 and play Valencia and Sterling against Man Utd? Would be for a hit.
