Thierry Henry returns to Arsenal on a short-term loan deal. Chris Brunt is expected to be sidelined for a couple of months with an ankle injury, while the injuries rack up for Spurs and Everton ahead of the final match of gameweek 20 next Wednesday:

Arsenal have confirmed this afternoon that Thierry Henry has re-joined the club on a short-term loan deal. With Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh heading off to the African Cup of Nations, Arsene Wenger is short in numbers up front and, with Wenger revealing Robin Van Persie will be rested for the FA Cup clash against Leeds, Henry is in line for action. Wenger admitted the forward is a couple of weeks away from full fitness and although Jack Wilshere is not expected to come back from an ankle injury before next month, Thomas Vermaelen is in line for a return after the Gunners trip to Swansea next gameweek.

Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling have both been ruled out out of Manchester United’s FA Cup clash with neighbours City this Sunday. Evans continues to struggle with a calf injury, while Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed Smalling is hopeful of a return to training on Monday, though is still suffering from “a really bad bout of tonsillitis”.

Everton have confirmed via their twitter feed this afternoon that Phil Jagielka could be sidelined for up to six weeks after scans revealed he suffered medial ligament damage in the midweek match at home to Bolton. David Moyes has plenty of other injury worries ahead of tomorrow’s FA Cup clash with Tamworth. Jack Rodwell, Tim Cahill and Ross Barkley will not be risked, with Everton still to travel to Spurs on Wednesday in the final match of gameweek 20. Reports have also suggested that Tony Hibbert is struggling with a groin problem. Moyes confirmed Leon Osman requires surgery to remove floating bone in his knee, while Royston Drenthe, Marouane Fellaini and Seamus Coleman may be close to a comeback this weekend.

Adam Bogdan looks set to continue in goal this weekend for Bolton as Owen Coyle takes his side to Macclesfield Town. Jussi Jaaskelainen is still suffering from a thigh strain and will be giving a chance to recuperate before the Trotters’ next league game, away to Man United.

Wigan’s Albert Crusat has been given the all-clear after being subbed off with a back problem in Wigan’s 4-1 home thrashing by Sunderland. The Spaniard replaced Victor Moses in the Latics starting XI, with the latter benched for the first time this season, and Roberto Martinez admitted Crusat should feature more often in his first-team thoughts in the months ahead:

It was a real shame he had to come off against Sunderland, because he was having a massive impact on the game. But he will get plenty of opportunities to show what he can do during the second half of the season.

Alex McLeish has revealed Shay Given is making good progress from a hamstring strain. While the keeper won’t feature this weekend in the FA Cup, Big Eck has admitted there is a chance Given will recover in time for Villa’s next league game at home to Everton.

Harry Redknapp confirmed this morning that both Aaron Lennon and Michael Dawson are available for selection as Spurs face Cheltenham in the FA Cup this weekend. The Tottenham boss received bad news on the injury front, though, with William Gallas and Sandro expected to be sidelined for a considerable amount of time, after scans revealed both players picked up calf tears in the recent 1-0 win over West Brom. Scott Parker is also unavailable after picking up a “bad bang” on the knee against Swansea, according to his manager.

Jamie O’Hara is making rapid progress from his recent double hernia operation. The midfielder has, of course, been absent since gameweek 15, but according to the Wolves official website, he has an “outside chance” of making a dramatic return against former club Spurs in gameweek 21, with Mick McCarthy certainly expecting him back within the next fortnight.

Roberto Di Matteo presided over Chelsea’s Friday press conference today and revealed both Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou will leave to join up with the Ivory Coast squad tomorrow. The club had hoped the pair would be available for their FA Cup clash with Portsmouth but, as expected, they will report for international duty ahead of the upcoming African Cup of Nations. Di Matteo also revealed Michael Essien is expected to return to training by the end of the month.

West Brom have confirmed Chris Brunt is to undergo surgery after fracturing his ankle against Everton on New Year’s Day. The Irishman is expected to be sidelined for eight to ten weeks as a result.

Personally, I see Smalling as 'the new Wes Brown'. They also need fullbacks, Evra is getting up in years and still there's no clear partner for Vidic in the center.

No clue where they would play Phil Jones permanently

I can't believe that my once formidable defence has been depleted due to injury-forced transfers. Once I use my wildcard I may concentrate on 3 good defenders, 3 good midfielders and 3 good strikers. Still deciding...

Because I have no money in bank to upgrade to caulker and I'm never going to use him anyway. If I had caulker it would be a waste of the extra 0.2m. Kelly is my fourth sub and I never plan on using Kelly let alone de laet.

50-50 most on here will tell you Kompany as he's less of a risk.

I disagree Richards is not as injury prone as people make out, is just as nailed on and has a much better attacking potential, the guy is a beast down the right hand side, why Fabio continues to overlook him is frankly a mystery.

Kompany is in fact more nailed on. He's the club captain and will play when available, but Richards at least has competition for his place. There is also no doubt that Richards is more injury prone than Kompany.

Hmm, Richards may be rotated the odd game (although the only games he has been rotated for the sake of rotation were GW3 and 7, every other game he has been injured, returning from injury or ill) but his attacking returns are outstanding (1 goal, 6 assists)
Kompany seems to be getting further forward lately and is 100% nailed on.
I'm going Richards but Kompany is probably the better choice..

Again, I wasn't asking for your opinion either and not too fussed by it. By the way, the language you use is foul and inappropriate. Look at your language before making cheap remarks.

I am mildly confused with all this. Ignoring the fact we are now ganging up on you which is a tad unfair.

What were you hoping to achieve when you posted that first comment? As far as I can tell it is just your musings on life?

I was musing about my team. I thought this was the place for it - as others are doing that also. Sadly it doesn't appear to be so with the foul language that I have heard. Is this what this place is about? FFS.

In my defense, my 'meow' comment was actually directed at ABG.

The comment about his site was because I didn't like his stinky 'I have a higher rank' attitude.

                Just saying.

Tangtastic, I don't like boasting about my rank or team - it has it's flaws like all other teams. But I found that original posters comments to be inappropriate. I only made the comment of his ranking as it seemed befitting to the talk of supposed quality that he brought up.

                  you didn't use it as your FFS name. your FFS name used to be something non-descript;

and then you blatantly linked you site in your posts accompanied with text like "FFS is OK but have you seen this site too?"

posing as a FFS fan with no ulterior motive.

As far as I recall I have never mentioned my overall GW rank until today - which was used as part of a debate on quality where someone made an offensive remark to me. As for my team value I have only mentioned it once. I have talked of other things beside that, i.e. team selection/transfers. So please don't "crow about" something so incorrectly. I have already been accused of being some other different poster.

Does anyone have a view on Crusat of Wigan? Martinez has been full of praise about his curtailed performance against Sunderland and I wonder if he may be a good alternative to others in the sub-£5m midfield bracket.

Seems like a very advanced Mid, poss even OOP but he's been there all season and has barely played.

    Any thoughts?

J(O)A, he got injured, that's why he came off. Read any match report and Martinez was bigging him up. Now that may be man management, but that's why I'm asking - I don't know much about him. Martinez has been quoted as saying he'll have a much bigger part to play in the second half of the season.

Other forward is RVP & Sturridge..Also have Bale & BAE for Spurs coverage..

I will also be moving Adebayor after the Wolves game because he can't face Man City due to the terms of his loan.

Does anyone else think Adebayor is fixture proof and the best choice for a sub 10M forward apart from Ba who is at ACON

Ade is shit IMO. Feeling so bad that I didn't go with my opinion, haven't kept Ba and went without him for the double. Walker was clearly a better bet. Ba 12 pts, Ade = shit pts. And in that case I would still had Nani not that Zigic bunch of players (Osman, Hibbert, Jags)

Adebayor has been a fairly consistent point scorer to be fair, so don't be surprised if he gets a couple of goals or assists against Everton.

Stoke have good home games so Crouch could be a shout. Other than that Sturridge, Hernandez and maybe Henry are the obvious ones

      Form is mildly important.

      Bent to Gabby
      Jarvis to Sessegnon
      Bendtner to Fletcher

      Same fixtures, better form

btw you dont happen to live in banstead do ya?

I currently have Vorm and Moreira and Jones just thought I could lose jones and go with united goalkeeping combination then at least I always have a keeper playing and don't have to worry about rotation

Chelsea under AVB are shit defensively and Cahill is 4th choice. We need Essien back to his best in order to keep CS's

He's played the last couple games but you just never know when he isn't going to play. Not worth the risk when you have the chance to change your whole team to fit in Kompany.

Well, either way, he hasn’t been able to string together more than 4 games in row. Read of that what you will but he’s not even under my consideration.
