Thierry Henry returns to Arsenal on a short-term loan deal. Chris Brunt is expected to be sidelined for a couple of months with an ankle injury, while the injuries rack up for Spurs and Everton ahead of the final match of gameweek 20 next Wednesday:

Arsenal have confirmed this afternoon that Thierry Henry has re-joined the club on a short-term loan deal. With Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh heading off to the African Cup of Nations, Arsene Wenger is short in numbers up front and, with Wenger revealing Robin Van Persie will be rested for the FA Cup clash against Leeds, Henry is in line for action. Wenger admitted the forward is a couple of weeks away from full fitness and although Jack Wilshere is not expected to come back from an ankle injury before next month, Thomas Vermaelen is in line for a return after the Gunners trip to Swansea next gameweek.

Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling have both been ruled out out of Manchester United’s FA Cup clash with neighbours City this Sunday. Evans continues to struggle with a calf injury, while Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed Smalling is hopeful of a return to training on Monday, though is still suffering from “a really bad bout of tonsillitis”.

Everton have confirmed via their twitter feed this afternoon that Phil Jagielka could be sidelined for up to six weeks after scans revealed he suffered medial ligament damage in the midweek match at home to Bolton. David Moyes has plenty of other injury worries ahead of tomorrow’s FA Cup clash with Tamworth. Jack Rodwell, Tim Cahill and Ross Barkley will not be risked, with Everton still to travel to Spurs on Wednesday in the final match of gameweek 20. Reports have also suggested that Tony Hibbert is struggling with a groin problem. Moyes confirmed Leon Osman requires surgery to remove floating bone in his knee, while Royston Drenthe, Marouane Fellaini and Seamus Coleman may be close to a comeback this weekend.

Adam Bogdan looks set to continue in goal this weekend for Bolton as Owen Coyle takes his side to Macclesfield Town. Jussi Jaaskelainen is still suffering from a thigh strain and will be giving a chance to recuperate before the Trotters’ next league game, away to Man United.

Wigan’s Albert Crusat has been given the all-clear after being subbed off with a back problem in Wigan’s 4-1 home thrashing by Sunderland. The Spaniard replaced Victor Moses in the Latics starting XI, with the latter benched for the first time this season, and Roberto Martinez admitted Crusat should feature more often in his first-team thoughts in the months ahead:

It was a real shame he had to come off against Sunderland, because he was having a massive impact on the game. But he will get plenty of opportunities to show what he can do during the second half of the season.

Alex McLeish has revealed Shay Given is making good progress from a hamstring strain. While the keeper won’t feature this weekend in the FA Cup, Big Eck has admitted there is a chance Given will recover in time for Villa’s next league game at home to Everton.

Harry Redknapp confirmed this morning that both Aaron Lennon and Michael Dawson are available for selection as Spurs face Cheltenham in the FA Cup this weekend. The Tottenham boss received bad news on the injury front, though, with William Gallas and Sandro expected to be sidelined for a considerable amount of time, after scans revealed both players picked up calf tears in the recent 1-0 win over West Brom. Scott Parker is also unavailable after picking up a “bad bang” on the knee against Swansea, according to his manager.

Jamie O’Hara is making rapid progress from his recent double hernia operation. The midfielder has, of course, been absent since gameweek 15, but according to the Wolves official website, he has an “outside chance” of making a dramatic return against former club Spurs in gameweek 21, with Mick McCarthy certainly expecting him back within the next fortnight.

Roberto Di Matteo presided over Chelsea’s Friday press conference today and revealed both Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou will leave to join up with the Ivory Coast squad tomorrow. The club had hoped the pair would be available for their FA Cup clash with Portsmouth but, as expected, they will report for international duty ahead of the upcoming African Cup of Nations. Di Matteo also revealed Michael Essien is expected to return to training by the end of the month.

West Brom have confirmed Chris Brunt is to undergo surgery after fracturing his ankle against Everton on New Year’s Day. The Irishman is expected to be sidelined for eight to ten weeks as a result.

So... I have just enough money to do the switch from Walters to Dempsey as my free transfer this week. Thoughts? I'll lose about .2, and my only concern is that I may want Walters back when I WC for week 24.

Yeah, Dempsey is the main one I'm looking my minileague leader has him so am looking at others for a differential. Donovan or even Kuyt worth a punt? Kuyt might get more gametime with Suarez out now.

    Vorm, Sorenson
    Enrique, Simpson, Caulker, Senderos, Brown
    Silva, Valencia, Gerrard, Bale, McClean
    RVP, Aguero, Morison/Yakubu

Still light on defence, but not not bad going forward 😉

Gerrard is a maybe for now, could swap him for Dempsey in the team. Any thoughts?

I could keep BAE instead of Brown, but Spurs dont have the best fixtures, and Sunderland are now a better team under MON, and Fulham/Swansea, Sunderland/Newcastle rotate quite nicely til the end of the season.

I could swap Gerrard and Valencia for Nani and Dempsey, well any combination of those except Nani and Gerrard.

I wasn't sure about doubling up on stoke defs with Shotton, but he's an option.

Hey help a Yank, would you? really would love some responses

What is the better transfer for this week, in prep for WC later in month--

Jageilka > Senderos, or other cheap Def (Santon/Williamson/Kelly)

    or

    Pilkington > Sess

The former would help me stock up on bank account in prep for WC when I will really benefit from it. The latter is obviously an upgrade but I would lose money and maybe midfield too expensive?

    current team:

    Vorm/Westwood
    JEvans/BAE/Simpson/Shotton/Jagielka
    Nani/Bale/silva/Walters/Pilkington
    RVP/Adebayor/Morison

Senderos could be a good call at 4.3 and is more or less guaranteed first team football provided he is fit.

Sess is a good Sunderland player - he's like a quasi-striker listed as a midfielder. As for Pilks, why not keep him as a 3rd sub?

As for your team overall it looks fairly decent, it doesn't need too many changes in my estimation.

Not really. He's #1 at Man City and will play if fit and not tired.

Look at RVP, old glass legs, played every match recently. Aguero will do the same.

      Santon, Simpson and Krul?

I wouldn't triple on Newcastle defence tbh, maybe swap Santon for Caulker?

Also Pilkington is likely to be rotated, he doesn't start every week so you might want another 5th mid (McClean, Moses?)

And do you want VdV and Bale, you could get away with one and have Nani/Vakencia instead for United coverage

Great. Thanks mate I'll take a quick look at them changes, I was a bit worried 'bout United coverage, but I've had VDV from the start, so too Bale, I was thinking keep VDV in WC team but after Wolves game get him out. Although he usually performs against big teams... tough choice, had Caulker in first draft too, but Santon is cheap as chips, looking good and Raylor now playing more attacking?

All your money is tied up in a strong attack, if you want to stick with RVP then you have a very good team. With this team I would swap Yak for maybe Morison and play a 3-5-2 formation, leaving funds for maybe a tottenham def (BAE) I predict a few Tot clean sheets.
Shotton maybe more of a prospect than Shawx at the min and cheaper.
Sunderland keeper looking good at min so very good choice.

Sorry for blubbering on, this is only my thoughts

Why not, sunderland looking very strong, I even think they may suprise chelsea next GW (but dont quote me on that)
At 4.5 m and scoring last gameweek - Man of the match for me - I might even have him as my cheeky little gamble.
If you are unsure about the Chelsea game, then Norwich play West Brom where Morison will get a few chances, so switch.
If its having two players same team then Dempsey would be a good option but a bit more expensive than sess i think.
P.S sorry for late reply been busy

The words "f*cking" and "sh*t" don't belong on FFS or on the football terraces of 2012. I class this as foul language. Other posters have also confirmed this to be inappropriate. I can understand the use of slang or other types of informal language on football forums, but swearing is vile and should be condemned.

There's a difference between a swear word being used randomly to curse at one's own action and then to swear directly at someone. Whilst the former is understood as being part of the norm in today's day and age, the latter is not acceptable and nor should it be as it can incite hatred and cause undue offence. Inciting hatred is despicable and should be condemned.

United have always been unreliable for clean sheets, they have a real tendency to switch off at the back, this is even more true when Vidic is out, I did a load of research about this for an article I wrote. With Vidic out it's simply hard to predict any United cleanies. They will get them of course, but who knows which games.

    Chaps.

This is the worst year I’ve had on FPL – I’m 200 points behind my mini league leader, so I think I have to take an early WC. There is £500 for the winner so my chances are about as good as Gary Glitter being made a teacher at a kindergarden?

    Her Team (Leader)

    Vorm
    Simpson Jones Hangeland
    Silva Walters Ramsey Nani
    Sturridge Van Persie Ba

Subs Al-Habsi Eagles Taylor R Taylor

    My Current Team

    Krul
    Jagielka Jose Enrique Gallas
    Bale Drenthe Silva Nani
    Adebayor Van Persie Yakubu

Subs Vorm Evans J Simpson Dyer

    MY POSSIBLE WC Team

    Sorensen Vorm
Simpson Caulker Clichy Kelly Jose Enrique
    Dempsey Silva Sessegnon Valencia Bale
Aguero Adebayor Torres (0 in Bank)

Quite a lot of gambles there - but I'd like to know if you agree here? Or any other ideas welcome!

    Many Thanks.

I know u want to have some different players but having torres and no rvp will.not help you come back. Get rvp in for torres and downgrade sess for some1 like moses because you would have to put sess on the bench each week coz of your good mid and front 3 ( not including torres.in that). Does that make sense to you?

BAE is 0.2m cheaper than Clichy and playing every game.

Stoke and Swansea don't rotate well. Presume you want to keep Vorm, so look to Newcastle & Fulham for good rotation.

Torres - really. Go Yakubu and use the money to upgrade elsewhere.
