As we’re waiting for Fantasy Premier League to start I thought I’d launch a Fantasy Uefa Champions League and Europa League qualifications fun game. It is only for July as later we will have some more important things to do.

Start date (Gameweek 1) – July 4

End date (Gamweek 10) – August 3

Sadly there is no aplication just everyone who want to play should post their team as a reply to my every Gameweek post here in this article. I will make a post every match day (GW) about an hour before first game.

It is simply about picking 11 players (no bench) from teams playing in Champions League and Europa League qualifications.

As I hate when my player starts on bench plus I don’t really know most of the teams playing in this stage so we don’t have to post full team before first game. We can pick players after we see lineups and the deadline is kick off for each game that Gameweek.

That means that if first game starts at 5pm you can only pick  player from that game until then. If you’re late you will have to pick players from the next game. Most of the time there are few games every Gameweek at a different time.

Those who join this game will probably post few times every Gameweek to make a full team, but if you want you can post full XI before all games and risk no starters but no changes later.

Rules

1. No budget, no transfers (all free obviously)
2. Maximum two players from one team
3. Formation is 1-3-4-3

Points

Goalkeeper and defender: 1 pt for a clean sheet (only for starters)
All positions: 1 pt assist, 2 pts goal, -1pt for a red card (yellow cards get no deductions)
Goalkeeper: 2 pts for a penalty save/missed penalty (doesnt matter if saved)

Some games may be rescheduled so I will post what games are in every Gameweek to make sure everything is clear. Also I will use CET and 24h system.

        If I got this right, deadline for GW1 is kick off time of the first game tomorrow (( 30 Pm in India as per UEFA website)?

          It's a bit different than in other fantasy games.
          The deadline is not to post your whole team but to choose players from that game. I wrote about it.

          So for example if there are few games: 18, 18:45, 19:30 and 20 you have deadline to pick players from first game till 18, second 18:45 etc. Remember, you must pick 1 GK, 3 def, 4 mids, 3 strikers so if you past deadline of first game you have time to pick players from the games that haven't started yet.
          So how it works (example):
          At 18:15 (when you see lineups) you pick a GK and striker from game at 18:45 (till 18:45) and you post their names here (plus name of the club and position to make it easier for me). Than at 19:15 you post names from other few games which starts at 19:30 as so on till you filed full XI for a GW.

          Later I will put all names of all managers here and count their points and post the results here.

            Got it, sounds delightful. Its just that may have to stay up a little late for some of the later games here in India. But thats easier, the young one goes to sleep by then 🙂

              You can always pick your players from previous games but like you said maybe wait a bit longer and make it easier;)
              I'm glad that you enjoy that. Was afraid that all here will say it's stupid.
              We have 4 players as it stands (me, you, Camp No No and FPL Dreams) so it's better than I suspected 🙂
              To be honest if it was a lot of managers for example 30 people playing it would be a lot to calculate for me;) but I run some tests and it won't take so much time so I think I will handle:)

    Here is some more info about our fantasy game.

    First of all we pick players from teams which are playing in qualifications for UCL and EL. Game has 10 Game Weeks. Every GW can be a single day of games (like GW 1 where are 5 UCL games and 2 EL games) or 2 days of games (like GW 3 where are 2 UCL games 11.07 and 10 UCL games 12.07).

    It looks a bit confusing but it's the best way to. No sense to play a single GW just for 2 games or skip any games just because for example 1 EL game is at UCL night. Generally UCL is a two-day-game week (Tuesday+Wednesday), EL is one-day-game week (Thursday).

    To make sure thet everyting is clear I will post what games takes part in every GW as soon as Uefa will decide the dates of all single games.

    Now we know for sure the dates and games for GW1 and GW2. GW1 is 04.07 (5 UCL games + 2 EL games). GW2 is 06.07 (48 EL games).

    Here is some info about teams who take part in our game.

    1. Uefa Champions League

    There is First, Second and Third round (also a play off as a final stage of qualifications but we don't count this round as it will be August and we have FPL to deal with)

    First round is 10 teams (which already played one game): Alashkert (ARM), Europa (GIB), FC Santa Coloma (AND), FCI (EST), Hibernians (MLT), La Fiorita (SMR), Linfield (NIR), TNS (WAL), Trepça’89 (KOS), Vikingur (FRO).

    They are a bit unknowns for avarage football supporter. Alashkert, Europa, Hibernians, Linfield and Vikingur won their first games. It's hard to stands out any player or even any team out of those as all favourites won. Maybe only Europa FC (GIB) made a surprice win.

    Second round is 34 teams (29 teams plus 5 who qualify from 1st round): APOEL (CYP), Astana (KAZ), BATE (BLR), Budućnost Podgorica (MNE), Celtic (SCO), Dudelange (LUX), Dundalk (IRL), FH (ISL), H. Beer-Sheva (ISR), Honvéd (HUN), København (DEN), Kukës (ALB), Legia (POL), Ludogorets (BUL), Malmö (SWE), Maribor (SVN), Mariehamn (FIN), Partizan (SRB), Qarabağ (AZE), Rijeka (CRO), Rosenborg (NOR), Salzburg (AUT), Samtredia (GEO), Sheriff (MDA), Spartaks Jūrmala (LVA), Vardar (MKD), Žalgiris (LTU), Žilina (SVK), Zrinjski (BIH).

    Some teams are better know as Apoel, Celtic, København, Legia, Rosenborg, Salzburg so it will be easier for us to pick some players to our teams. In next, third round it will be more big teams like Olympiacos, Ajax, Brugge, CSKA, Nice etc. so the game will be even "more friendly" 🙂

    2. Europa League

    Same as UCL there is First, Second and Third round (also a play off as a final stage of qualifications but we don't count this round as it will be August and we have FPL to deal with)

    First round is around 100 teams (which already played one game) so I won't post all the names but there are AIK (SWE), Crvena Zvezda (SRB), Lech (POL), Rangers (SCO), Shamrock (IRL) etc.

    Second round is winners of first round plus Aberdeen (SCO), Apollon (CYP), Astra (ROU), Bnei Yehuda (ISR), Brann (NOR), Brøndby (DEN), Dinamo Brest (BLR), Gabala (AZE), Galatasaray (TUR), Hajduk Split (CRO), Luzern (SUI), Mladá Boleslav (CZE), Östersund (SWE), Panionios (GRE), Sturm (AUT), Utrecht (NED).

    In third round there will be Bilbao, Everton, AC Milan, Marseille, PSV and few more.

      Forgot to add something about Europa Legaue teams who already played one game.
      Few teams won quite easy or even impresive like: K. Almaty (Kaz), Slovan Bratislava (Svk), Trencin (Svk), Shkendija (Mac), AEK Larnaca (Cyp), Haugesund (Nor), Odd (Nor), Midtjylland (Den), Norrkoping (Swe), Crvena zvezda (Srb), Inter Baku (Aze), Lech Poznań (Pol), AEL Limassol (Cyp).

      So if you don't want to spend much time looking for players to your team you can focus on those.

    Very important thing about positions. Like it is said - all positions according to http://www.flashscore.com/ so before you pick a player to your positions check if he's def/mid/forw (click player name in lineup) not to break 1-3-4-3 rule
    Hint - for example in one team there is a defender playing a striker role 😉 Points for goal are the same every positions but you can have "more strikers" in your team and a chance for CS too having this player.
    Same thing with full backs. Check if they're defenders or midfielders first.
    Don't suggest that player is a defender just because he plays defender role in a graphic on flashscore.com etc.
    Same thing with other things like assist. Even if you watch the game and there is an obvious assister but on flashscore.com goal is unassisted than no points for assist.
    Sometimes there are some mistakes (which are being correct by flashscore after an hour or two) so I will always calculate points the day after GW to make sure everything is ok.

    If you have some more questions please ask now because I don't want to spoil the fun for someone who didn't know something.

        But some players are missing here and still they are in lineups.
        For example Samir Hadji from Fola (LUX). He is in lineup and even scored a goal in first leg EL game vs Milsami (MDA) 29.06 but when we chceck Fola players he's not there.

    Some but just few players are classified as "player" so we don't know which position they play.
    It those cases if someone will pick that player his position will be same as the one on the graphic lineup.

    Hello cuz. Like I said the other day, nice work. I'm in obv!
    Let me write something about todays teams and players for all who want to join but don't know much about those teams.

    In todays Champions League qual. there are some interesting players that we need to pick to our teams. All teams are champions of their leagues.

    First game is Infonet Tallinn vs Hibernians (first leg 0-2; Jorginho and Kristensen goals). Infonet actually is 4th in Estonia league after 17 games. Their best striker is Prosa with 17 goals (actual top scorer) and best midfielder Kharin has 8 goals. Their last 3 games (W-W-L). Hibernians didn't start Maltan league but last seasons best scorer was Degabriele with 16 goals. Bookies says Tallinn are favourites.
    Second game is Trepca vs Vikingur (first leg 1-2; Hajdari - Vatnhamar and Lawal). Kosovo haven't start their league but Vikingur is topping the table of Faroe Island league. Lawal is their best scorer with 9 goals. Last 3 games (W-L-W). Bookies says Trepca is a favourite of this one.
    Next we have Europa vs TNS (first leg 2-1; Alex Quillo and Gomez - Quigley). Gibraltar haven't start yet same as Wale but best TNS scorers were Draper (13 goals) and Darlington (11). Both strikers. Here hard to predict whos a favourite.
    Santa Coloma vs Alashkert (first leg 0-1; Nenadovic). Both teams haven't start their league. Favourite - Alashkert.
    La Fiorita vs Linfield (0-1; Sukka). Here both teams waiting for league to start too but best Linfield scorers were Waterworth (20 goals) and Burns (14). Bookies says - Linfield.

    Than we have 2 Europa League games.

    Balzan vs Videoton (0-2; Scepovic and Lazovic) and Niedercorn vs Rangers (1-0; Miller). Both teams who won first games are favourites.
    Balzan wast seccond in Maltan league with Kaljevic league top scorer with 23 goals. Videoton was second too and their best scorers were Scepovic (13 g) and Lazovic (10) - all strikers.
    Obviously we all know Rangers. They were 3rd in league with Miller best scorer (11). Niedercorn was 4th in Luxenburg.

    Don't need much time counting points. Sadly not everyone who said that will play actually joined (yet). Some had problems with rules (if you miss dedline of one game you can pick players from the next one). Oh well, what you gonna do.. I had some fun as few my players got some points. It would be better if there was at least 5-6 managers playing but what you gonna do.

            I doubt anything in India goes that deep into non-PL clubs....I refer currently the official site, but the was a site I referred couple of years back for EL game. Cant seem to remember it...Will try to look up

        Also the problem is that some of the games are at 1:30 am here. So would be difficult for me to stay awake. But as I said, I'll try my best.

          Tomorrow we have 2 games at 16:00 CET, 5 games at 17:00 CET, 6 games at 18:00 CET ect so you dont have to wait till last games which starts 22:00 CET.

              Also I have a question about some change in this game with game weeks.
              The plan was that UCL games which taking place Tuesday and Wednesday are in the same GW but as we have 5 games Tuesday and 11 games Wednesday I'm thinking abou spliting it and make two separate GW instead of one.
              What would you say?

    Tips and short version of rules as there was some problems yesterday:

    1. DEADLINE
    There is many deadlines! As many as number of games at GW. You don’t have to post full team before first game. That means that if first game starts at 18:00 you can pick player from that game until then. If you’re late you will have to pick players from the next game. And so on but remember that max 2 players from one team and you have to pick 1 GK, 3 defenders, 4 midfielders and 3 strikers. So basically everyone will make few replys to complete his full XI.
    I hope thats clear enough.

    2. POINTS
    It's very simple:
    GK and def: 1 pt for a CS (only for starters even if he play only 1 min)
    All positions: 1 pt assist, 2 pts goal, -1pt for a red card (YC get no deductions)
    GK: 2 pts for a penalty save/missed (doesnt matter if saved)

    What's important extra time counts too! (Penalties AET don't).
    Also all data, positions, points etc. are according to http://www.flashscore.com/ to make this game fair and that's why I had to choose one site for everyone. Otherwise it could be a problem if different sites would give different scorers etc.

    3. POSITIONS
    One tactic for everyone: 1-3-4-3.
    Like above. We use one site http://www.flashscore.com/ to avoid problems when on one site one player could be a defender and at the same time a midfielder on the other. Maybe it's not important as it's just fun for few people but it would be nice if we could stick to it.

    Oryginaly UCL games (which taking place Tuesday and Wednesday) were as one GW but better idea is spliting them and make two separate GWs instead of one. So we have full GW Tuesady and next full, separate GW Wednesday.
