Scout Notes on today’s FA Cup action will be heading your way tomorrow, for now, we thought we’d bring you word that, as we did in January last season, we’ll be introducing a half-season membership. The price of membership to Fantasy Football Scout will drop from £15 to £10 for the remainder of the season on Monday.

This half season offer will give access to the Members Area, Members Ticker and Members articles, right up until June 1 and arrives in time for those still pondering their January wildcard selections.

We’re currently working on updated Player Projections that will offer our view on the players for the remaining 18 gameweeks. We’re also producing some FAQ based tutorials that will help new and existing members get the most from the Members area and tools. We expect both to be published early next week to coincide with the half-season offer. Click here for details on the benefits available to Members.

Coverage on the Scout gets back to normal next week after the busy holiday programme, with our usual regulars making reappearance. We’re also unveiling a new guest writer who will be contributing members and non-members articles for the remainder of the season. With at least two new writers to be announced from the recent “Scouting for Writers” article, the next few weeks should see plenty of progress. More on that next week.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Ok my current wildcard thinking if anyone would be kind enough to pass there opinion

    Vorm/Moreira
    Kompany/Enrique/Shotton/Kelly/Caulker
    Walters or Sess?/Bale/Nani/Dempsey/Silva
    Rvp/Aguero/Yak

You have achieved commonality with all the other RMWCTs.

FWIW, Walters/Sess will sit, I assume, so why not trade down and improve a defender?

At the moment I have jones in with Sess and Walters my other thought is get Shotton for jones and get Degea and Lindegaard goalkeeper combination what do you think?

Utd's defense is just dreadful at the moment. Also, doing that would take 2 of the 3 United spots for your team - seems to tie your hands for future moves.

I'd keep Vorm, especially if you bought him on the cheap initially. Then look for a better GK who rotates well with him during his more-difficult fixtures.

Spec, my personal opinion is that five strong midfields can work well! You could rotate between 3-4-3 and 3-5-2, with Yak out on bad fixtures, replaced by whoever midfielder you have on the bench.

IMO, no need buying expensive defense at the moment. Liverpool is, as Eric says, untrustworthy at the moment. Liverpool has a few decent fixtures, before it clashes for them. Tottenham also have unfavoury fixtures. That leaves City and Arsenal. In City I trust (Komp / Richards), but I don't trust in Wenger's back just yet. Too expensive, when you have cheap alternatives from good defensive teams that rotate well: 1. Fullham, great fixtures. Great options in Kelly and Senderos ! 2. Stoke, great home fixtures, and we all know it's at home they sparkle. With the potential of a 4.0 mil OOP player like Shotton, why look elsewhere when Stoke rotates wonderfully with f. eks. a defensive team like Swansea? 3. WBA Not as strong defensively, but probably with the best fixtures along with Fullham and QPR. McAuley is going into my team. 4. A team like Newcastle, with ripe choices like Simpson and Williamson, for a heck of a price and good fixtures.

So, say your back options are: Caulker, McAuley, Senderos (Kelly), Shotton, and Williamson / Simpson. If you rotate those correctly, you'll have more to spend and probably at least as good a score as if you buy two expensive ones and three cheap as up until now has been a good choice.

Personally, I found City's fixtures and Kompany's form to be so tempting, I got rid of Caulker for the time being. Kompany as the rock in my defense - I have four other options available, where at least two always will work wonderfully fixture wise.

The best thing about membership that I find is "the big numbers" and other stats based articles. Honestly though one of the main reasons I pay for membership is for the sheer effort they put in to all the free articles, scout picks and the scoutcast which is always amazingly entertaining!

I also feel that amount of free advice from everyone on here is worth a couple quid too 🙂

My view, as a member, is that a paid account is good for:

      1. Stats; if you like oodles of stats and pouring through projections ... and

      2. Supporting the site. I figured that the cost of a movie and soda was worth the season's entertainment I get from being on here, reading the articles, and shooting the bull with other footy fans, FPL addicts, and ne'er-do-wells.

I have noticed that. I kick myself sometimes when i jump on a bandwagon from this site knowing full well its a bad decision. Your gut instinct is normally the best one. When i read comments i find of interest i tend to check out the players link on fpl (if they have one) to see how they are/have performed in the fpl and then judge wether they are chatting sense or nonsense.

suarez out for 8 games and big andy not performing + he's clearly in form, you'd expect starts. shrug.

i've been trying to work out a way to get him into my team without sacrificing my midfield (i'm 0.1 away from the team i want) because i think he's potentially a monster differential and he's easily transferred out for sturridge/yakubu etc.

    Howard
    BAE Simpson Shawcross
    Nani Bale Silva Rodwell
    RvP Adebayor Sturridge

    Vorm Surman Brown Jagielka

Question is Rodwell to who? Thinking Ben Arfa? Any other mids worth considering? Reckon Sturridge will start? He should recover by next week!

Opinions on my WC team please guys.

    My current team is:

    Krul, Ruddy
    Jones, Brown, Simpson, McAuley, Jagielka
    Brunt, Sinclair, Nani, Bale, Eagles
    Rooney, RVP, Yakubu

    1.2 in the bank.

Thinking of using my WC to give me this team:

    Krul, Ruddy
    Kompany, Shotton, Simpson, McAuley, Senderos
    Dempsey, Walters, Silva, Bale, Moses
    Rooney, Van Persie, Yakubu

    0.0 in bank.

I find it really difficult to drop Man Utd players coz I'm a United fan. Had Rooney all season but he can be frustrating. Aguero's fixtures are certainly more tempting.

    Opinions? Better suggestions?
    Thoughts?

        DWMR

        Kompany
Aguero until Rooney hits form (I held on to him for too long as well)
Both if possible, or Valencia, Silva as I have at the mo.

I've not took Rooney out all season I'm too faithful! Alas, it may finally be time. Really don't think I could squeeze in Nani and Silva.Could do Valencia and Silva but without Dempsey? But surely Dempsey looks a better prospect than Valencia over the next few weeks?

My dilemma as well DWMR. I keep trying different WC formations to keep Nani/Valencia, Silva, Dempsey and Bale but it's very difficult without upsetting the balance of my team.

I'm a United fan too but think Nani is enough for now, especially after Rooney's last performance!

Krul and Mignolet looks like the best keeper rotation to me. Nice midfield and forwards but maybe downgrade Rooney to Aguero and then upgrade Yak to Sturridge for Chelsea coverage?

What do you reckon – wildcard or 4 point hit next week? Those in block capitals won’t play/are doubtful:

    Vorm/Ruddy
    J. EVANS/JAGIELKA/Walker/Enrique/Simpson
    Silva/Nani/Bale/Etherington/FERGUSON
    BA/Rvp/Adebayor

I thought I could get by with just getting rid of Ba, but I’m not getting good vibes from Fergie about Jonny Evans starting next week, in which case Etherington would be my only sub. What would you advise?

isnt Sturridge or even Yak a better choice than Bellamy? I dont see him scoring as much as other cheaper strikers, I recon Liverpool wont score many and when they will it be from the midfield!

I really hope Sturridge gets to play centrally while Drogba is away at ACON, reckon the goals would flood in from him but can't see AVB letting him, Bellamy just offers an amazing differential atm,

Looks a little too "of the moment" rather than a good long term team.

Lindegaard - is he really the first choice now - will SAF really admit he got it wrong buying De Gea?
Kelly - may be replaced by Baird when he's back
Shotton - only came back in cos Wilkinson got a knock
Valencia - playing RB, also a rotation risk once players come back from inj
      Cabaye - just OK
Bellamy - prone to benching, but a great player
Sessegnon - really? I think you've missed his good little run, Walters is a safer long term bet

Like Vorm, think Richards has great potentia, Bale looking good value, Ramires has got the potentia., RVP and Aguero must haves.

      Not bad

    Nani SIlva Bale Sessegnon Moses
    Rvp Adebayor Yakubu

1.2m in the bank with this, thanks 🙂

I think Walters is a better option long term than Sess, who I think may just be on a good little run, I think R.Taylor is becoming over priced (unless you had him cheap already). Other than that looks fairly awesome.

I've had Ryan Taylor in from 4.2 million so yeah, would be hard pushed to sell him because I'd lose 0.7 million in value. I do agree he's overpriced though. Yakubu or Sturridge? Sturridge is in my team at the moment but I'm having my doubts

Keeping for next 3 then assessing how Liv's defence is looking. Still looks good value if you got him at base price

planning to wait a couple of GWs, need a clear run in and playing it now could cause me problems as there are 17 weeks to go. everyone will be different though depending on circumstances re current squads (injuries / ACON / form) or mini league positions.

i would think so. he looks a good player and for someone they brought in from Inter i reckon Pardew will secretly be looking to establish him in the side going forward. had injury problems at the start of the season and seems match fit now.

Nah not for me. Nani & Sturridge will prob both score well this GW, i'd hold off and do it during your WC if you think you still want it done.

Although it contradicts what I have said above, I'd go Williamson. you know he is a nailed on starter. doubt still remains re Santon although I think he will be a higher ppg scorer (bonus / assist potential) when he does play.
