Ledley King suffers a hamstring tear and is expected to be sidelined for several weeks. Alejandro Faurlin confirms he is ruled out for the rest of the season, Alan Pardew mulls over a switch to the flank for Hatem Ben Arfa and West Brom’s injury woes rack up:

Ledley King is looking at an extended time on the sidelines after tearing a hamstring. Reports suggest the centre-half could be out for up to eight weeks after suffering the injury in training last Friday and with William Gallas tearing a calf muscle against West Brom last week, Harry Redknapp’s options at the heart of defence are limited. Luckily for Redknapp, Michael Dawson returned to action in the weekend FA Cup win over Cheltenham and is available for selection, in addition to Younes Kaboul and Sebastian Bassong.

Arsene Wenger has dismissed the idea that Thierry Henry could stay on loan at Arsenal until the end of the season. Reports have suggested the New York Red Bulls man could perhaps remain at the Emirates till May, in a deal similar to the one that saw AC Milan retain the services of David Beckham a couple of years back, but it is not a scenario that Wenger has considered:

We have promised that we will send the player back so we have not spoken about that at all. Let’s hope we have the problem. If we have a problem then it means he has done well so I hope we have the problem. But at the moment I can just say no, it is not envisaged at all.

Alejandro Faurlin has confirmed he is ruled out for the rest of the season. The midfielder was stretchered off in QPR’s 1-1 FA Cup draw with MK Dons at the weekend and took to twitter to reveal he has a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.

Alan Pardew has suggested he is tempted to play Hatem Ben Arfa on the wing after the Frenchman’s wonder goal at the weekend. Ben Arfa was initially fielded up front alongside Leon Best for the game against Blackburn but his impact on the game only flourished when he was moved to the flank after Gabriel Obertan was withdrawn. Although the player is desperate for a “number 10” type of role, Pardew feels Ben Arfa’s performance benefitted from the shift:

It did help him. Before I arrived, there were suggestions that he had played wide and didn’t want to play there. But Hatem has to understand that it’s about the team, and where we think he fits in best is where we are going to put him. But his talent was there for everybody to see today.

West Brom’s injury woes increased at the weekend after Gareth McAuley picked up a calf strain in the FA Cup win over Cardiff. The centre-half limped off before the end of the 4-2 win and with Jonas Olsson also currently sidelined with a calf problem, Roy Hodgson now has nine players on the treatment table ahead of next weekend’s clash with Norwich.

Seamus Coleman suffered a recurrence of a thigh injury in Everton’s win over Tamworth at the weekend. The Irishman has played only 30 minutes since gameweek 15 and was subbed off before the hour mark at Goodison on Saturday when the problem flared up yet again.

Steve Kean hopes to have Chris Samba, David Dunn and Junior Hoilett available for Blackburn’s home clash with Fulham on Saturday. The trio missed Rovers’ 2-1 FA Cup defeat at Newcastle last weekend, with Samba a last-minute call-off, due to ankle and hamstring issues. With Martin Olsson and Gael Givet also returning, Kean’s injury problems appear to be lessening as he looks to plunder a crucial three points against the Cottagers.

FPL have added the newest January acquisitions to the player list today. Thierry Henry comes in at 7.5, Gylfi Sigurdsson has been priced at 5.0 in the Swansea midfield, while Paul Scholes has returned to the Man United squad with a 5.5 price tag against his name.

Man City confirmed this afternoon they have lodged an appeal over Vincent Kompany’s sending off in yesterday’s FA Cup defeat by Man United. The Telegraph’s Mark Ogden has suggested the verdict should be known by 6pm tomorrow evening, with the case being fast-tracked due to City’s Carling Cup semi-final first leg against Liverpool taking place on Wednesday.

    Lost on last page

    Vorm/Ruddy
    Caulker/Shotton/Enrique/Richards/Kelly
    Silva/Valencia/Demspy/Bale/McClean
    RVP/Sturridge/Aguero
WC team starting gameweek 22 hopefully if I can still afford it!
    Any thoughts?

Don't be put off by folk on here saying it's generic. It may be generic against other RMT's on this site but it certainly won't be among the 2.5m FPL players out there, so if you're happy with it go for it. As far as the team goes, my only criticism is Ruddy. If you've got 0.2+ spare look at Mignolet/Sorenson as alternatives.

Looks strong to me. Despite Sturridge points so far I wouldn`t have him in my side because he plays too wide and I doubt he`ll keep scoring goals but thats just a personal thing.

Vorms fixtures are poor but if you believe in him then fair enough. Ruddy is a complete waste of space. Despite all that I really like your squad 8/10.

Valencia and Sturridge is better imo. As I said I`ve got my own doubts about Sturridge continued success in a wide role that he doesn`t want to play but I suppose there are few better options for the price until Ba returns.

        Got cut again. 🙁

Was saying Moses + McClean rotate perfectly. There's also Ziggy and Clev waiting to unleash themselves at that price.

3 big hitters + 2 cheap mids allows you to play 4-3-3 on certain GWs and have some flexibility in case you need to install 3 BIG strikers (roo, rvp, torres, kun) upfront.

I've always had four of them, but can't justify Silva and Ageuro, takes too much out of the rest of the team. So currently have all mentioned plus Studge, with cheapies in Walters and Sinclair. Thinking of shoe horning Dempsey in though, but would have to sell all my good defenders and go all cheap as mentioned across the back....

What am I to do with my Kompany, having him has been peace of mind all season long….now I have a wild card I am tempted to get rid short term.

Lets face it, the FA wont overturn the card so he’s looking at 2 game suspension applicable to the PL and one in the Carling cup. Worth the transfer?

Decision by 6pm tmw in time for cup game. He only misses two league games, with any luck might only be one. I'm sticking with him as started with him at 6.0m, will play Simpson instead this week no bother at all still got Naylor and Reo-Medicore if needed on the bench.

If you look on the next page our resident Newcastle fan Atilla has doubts on whether Simpson will be able to go, as he has a problem with his shoulder. I would monitor the news on him as well.

    Krul, Vorm
Heitinga, Warnock, Vermaelen, Wilkinson, De Laet
Osman, Bale, VDV, Nani, M Petrov
    Sturridge, RVP, Adebayor

Lumbered with injuries (Verm, Wilko, De Laet, Osman, Sturridge), Spurs players with tougher fixtures upcoming (VDV, Bale, Ade), and rotation risks (De Laet, Wilko, Petrov) should I wildcard now or stick it out until GW23 after transfers and such?

Will they ever learn? Rotate and you will be punished, especially in defence.

United's defence has been shambolic this year during rotation. Same for Chelsea. Same for Newcastle. All have had great periods when they picked a settled backline, then went and destroyed it trying to "use their squad".

Ironically it's been sides not so renowned for defending like Arsenal, Spurs and Swansea who have been picking somewhat more stable backlines and producing decent consistent performances.

To be fair injuries have played their part with our rotation, not much you can do about that. Same with Newcastle, same with Chelsea.

They've played their part - Vidic obviously, Ferdinand, Smalling the biggest problems. But SAF seems to have made changes above and beyond what is forced on him. Constantly shuffling Jones in and out of midfield, putting Jones and Smalling in and out of fullback, won't even start on rest of the midfield. I think the worst periods have been with highest turnover.

Yes they've had injuries too but the important thing is they only seem to change defenders when they have to instead of on a whim. I take it you mean King and Gallas which is true, but overall they have a stable lineup of BAE Kaboul Gallas/King Walker. No messing around unless they have to, and it's paid off.

The signing of Friedel and Parker must take some of the credit too. Not disagreeing with your point though a settled backline does wonders.

Yeah Parker has been a revelation and Hilarious Gomes doesn't belong in a goal.

    Alreet lads

This is the 3rd and final time that I am going to post this. Apologies if you have seen it before, but some people have found it useful, and with the high turnover of posts on here these days, some might have missed it.

My customized ticker, allocates values to the different colour gradings. eg v mcy = 1, v WIG = 18.

Here were the total values for the following rotations, in rank order:

    1) Ful/ Stk = 236
    2) Ful/ New = 226
    3) Ful/ Swa = 223
    4) Swa/ Mun = 220
    5) Stk/ Swa = 204
    6) New/ Sun = 202
    7) Swa/ New = 183
    8) Swa/ Sun = 183

Conclusion. The best rotation from GW22 – 38 is Ful/ Stk. The above are the only rotations that I tested, so I might have missed some. Let me know if you have any other rotations that you would like me to test.

Let me know if this is useful

Danny Guthrie back in training - Pardew said he's in contention to face QPR
    http://www.shieldsgazette.com/sport/sport-columnists/black-white/fit_again_danny_guthrie_close_to_toon_return_1_4118782

The choices to partner Cabaye are - Guthrie, Abeid, Gosling, Perch, Smith. If its any of the first three then Cabaye's FPL potential will be impacted negatively. If its one of the latter two then we're in the shit as they are pretty poo.

Williamson is more secure (unless we sign someone), Santon has possibly more chance of getting attacking points. Depends how much you like to gamble.

What's the deal with the jan wild card, can I make unlimited transfers once I've activated it? As when I got to transfers after I've just changed my whole team (and picked up kompany before his red!!!). It still says unlimited transfers still. So will I be able to change kompany to someone with no point deduction?. Also I've noticed the prices don't rise while the wild card is active? Is this true?
