The draw for the first round of the 2019/20 FFS Cup FFS Cup

As you heard earlier, the draw for the quarter-finals of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup III, sponsored by Paddy Power, was made live in the podcast this morning by Mark and a buoyant Granville. Well, not quite…

Ok, my hands are up, I made a little mistake (I am human after all), and tried to put my buddy Anorak through. I didn’t think anyone would notice It was a genuine mistake and I apologise to sandgrounder.

So, just to clarify, here is the official quarter-final draw…

1 – tippman Vs. User

2 – DRP Vs. DollyDaisy

3 – The Von Vs. DaFoe22

4 – gooner dave Vs. sandgrounder

As always, the top-scorer will earn themselves a free £25 bet courtesy of Paddy Power.

Mark’s conqueror Tippman (20,094th place) takes on User (9,079th) with both players looking particularly primed for this week’s Man United home tie against Wigan; Nani and Dimitar Berbatov occupy places in each of their squads, though with Tippman on four straight red arrows, User comes into this one as favourite.

DRP (3,258th) and Dolly Daisy (2,869th) is a tough one to call. Of the remaining players, they were equal high-scoring last week, both chalking up 60 points. DPR has two Birmingham and two Wolves defenders, but barring that, he has no more than one player from any team. Dolly Daisy, on the other hand, has 3 Chelsea men -including two defenders- and two Everton; with the Toffees facing a trip to Sunderland, this could be a tricky tie for our highest-ranked surviving player.

14,004th-placed The Von has nine of his squad facing away trips, with only three of his front eight -Cesc Fabregas, Nani and Kevin Davies- playing at home. He’ll be hoping Newcastle can keep their good away form going, with three Magpies players in his squad. DaFoe22 sits in 9,893rd place and is another contender with 2 Chelsea defenders, but along with Nani he has Charlie Adam. With a home tie against Wolves up next for Blackpool, this could be crucial, as he also has nine squad members facing away trips.

GoonerDave (in 5,604th place) takes on sandgrounder (18,493rd) in our final match-up. Both have a Cesc-Rafael Van der Vaart-Adam combination in midfield, though sandgrounder also has Nani, something GoonerDave must surely consider before Saturday’s transfer shutdown.

All ties will be played over gameweek 14, and I’ll be you the results early next week.

The only thing that’s left to say is good luck to all eight quarter-finalists looking to reach the prestigious semi-finals.

Anyone think Coleman may be rested after his international duty?

(Also I'd love to know why Rio is listed as protected on Total - he's been back for weeks hasn't he?)

He's not starting for ireland tonight so very doubtful. He was good against Arsenal despite the result. If it had been a draw, I reckon he might have sneaked a bonus point.

Not starting is he? Oh OK that's reassuring, cheers.

I'm just conscious that Moyes will want to rest him at some point and this seems an ideal opportunity.

he has "PROTECTION" cos he hasnt risen since coming back from injury.

The word PROTECTION DOES NOT mean that he is protected, it means that the % to rise may be overstated since there was a period that he was protected for.

      Make sense?

Has the FPL started updating player value at 1am, as opposed to 2am which it was previously?

The other night I nearly put in Gyan for Drogba but was put off when he had already rose, hoping that works in my favour now!

Anyone else experienced a change in deadline time?

Guys, is it time to replace Wilshere as my cheap playing midfielder?

Plan is replace Lampard, got in as a differential last week then gets hurts in training (shaking fist at) and Hernandez(Dungbag) to Rooney and Arteta. But if Wilshere is losing favour then i could have
    Bale/Fabregas/N'Zogbia/Van der Vaart(Whitehead)
    Rooney/Torres/Tevez

cool, i guess it's just hard to put in opposition defenders against chelsea! not worth doubling up krul/simpson away to bolton then? they are scoring a lot at present, that's only reason I haven't, despite newcastle's good away form.

So many unexpected defensive results I was joking with the mrs about doing the opposite of logical. Simpson at Newcastle, Jara at Arsenal, Dann against MC. I guess I'm still sore at my stupid hit putting a Chelsea def in sure of a CS, leaving Dann on the bench. You know the rest. Certain green arrow turns into 5th red in a row. Never again.

Rafael when fit is now very clearly first choice. O'Shea seems to have fallen out of complete favour with Fergie and is 3rd on the list. So Rafael will play 65% of the time with Brown playing 25% of the time and O'Shea maybe 10% of the time to my mind, a nightmare, and worth a bit more shelling out for VDS/Vidic/Evra (Ferdinand could be out again any day!)

Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra are the only nailed on starters. But even they might be rested from time to time.

From what I hear, M'Vila is class.

Sahko is good on Football Manager, and always linked with Arsenal (presumably because he's young, French and good on Football Manager), but I haven't seen a whole lot of him personally.

Wouldn't France be better off dropping Gorcuff for someone like Valbuena or Payet wide with Nasri playing in the hole?

Is that footballa manager 11? What position is he? I'm always on the lookout for a bargain for my soon to be all conquering WBA side.

Gourcuff is a superb player but needs somebody to motivate him. I think they should keep faith with him.

Oh and talking about football manager, Valbuena is killing it for Chelsea in my current game.

He's a centre half. I don't know about FM 11, on one of the older ones he could be picked up pretty cheaply from the PSG reserves.

            Nev, Jag, Rio, Cole,
            Wilshire, Huddlestone

Gerrard on the left = automatic fail.

I still don't think that Wilshere is ready for international football. He isn't playing particularly well at the moment anyway...

It's not too dissimilar to my team.... Other than I categorically refuse to ever condone playing Gerrard on the left.. It's a surprise that Phil Neville continues to be ignored, because he genuinely probably is the best right back in the country (English RB that is).

Guardian did a team of the best England 11 based on stats pretty similar to the england team bar Foster, Welbeck I think

And there wasnt 1 English man in the Top 10 of the league.

So Gerrard on stats is the best of a bad bunch 😉

      1. Chelsea's are going to get sticky shortly
      2. Malouda is off form and getting subbed prior to the 60 min mark
      3. N'Zogbia is looking like a real matchwinner at present
      4. Nani crosses to Vidic on weekly basis it seems
      5. Man Utd's fixtures are favourable
      6. It was about this time they went on that 14 game run of clean sheets that time, that's merely speculative yet it could happen again.

Thanks evil. After last week I'm not rushing into anything. I shall see how Malouda does this weekend. Thanks for the detailed response, with which I agree to most points.

Seems wise, Malouda only has to set on fire this week then it's back to the drawing board.

        2. I don't really see Malouda as off form. From what I've watched he is still getting in good crosses and passes, just nobody now making anything of his work.

if i had him i wouldn't take him out this week, yet if he has another poor week then i'd certainly do the transfers danapussy is suggesting

England line-up for tonight. Will it be...

    Foster
    Richards, Cahill, Rio, Gibbs
    Johnson, Gerrard, Barry, Henderson, Walcott
    Carroll

    ???

That team will most probably struggle to beat the French youngsters. Might actually be a rather good game if France lines up as predicted above.

Milner more likely than Walcott, but aye. Jags instead of Cahill too possibly.
