Our series of summer members’ articles continues this afternoon as we assess what’s on offer at the managerial merry-go-round that is Watford.

To begin with, we analyse the Hornets’ performances on a team level, checking out last season’s data in order to spot trends and areas of improvement. Following that, we take a look at the players to pinpoint their key individuals.

For this article, we also focus on new manager Marco Silva’s impact on his former club Hull City after an impressive stint at the KCOM Stadidum during the second half of 2016/17.

Watford parted company with Quique Sanchez Flores at the end of 2015/16, scoring 40 times on their way to finishing in thirteenth spot on 45 points.

Yet the now-departed Walter Mazzarri failed to improve upon those performances in his only season at the helm. The Vicarage Road outfit scored the same number of goals but picked up just 40 points, ending the campaign in seventeenth position.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

West Brom only got 6 clean sheets last season, and have lost Darren Fletcher and McAuley has aged a year.

They've signed Hegazi, who has generally played well in pre-season, but I think his lack of pace will be a problem, even in a deep defensive line.

It's a Pulis team, so many are banking on them to be defensive beasts, but there is little sign of this so far...

Lots of save points for Foster then, exactly the point of a budget keeper.

I love how people rate Foster by the amount of saves he will be making. West Broms defence is so terrible your actually welcoming the barrage of shots 😀

That's the whole point of a budget keeper Einstein, if you wanted security, you would spend 1m more.

Mind you slow players like Mertesacker seem to do okay, so maybe I'm wrong about Hegazi. I did watch him get destroyed against Bristol Rovers though...

Well who knows what this season will be like for TP and the WB defence but if you look at the number clean sheets last year by club, I would take a hard pass on Foster.

    Cedric, Ake, Trippier (Suttner, Hunemeier)
    Coutinho, Zaha, Alli, Willian (Carroll)
    Kane, Kaku, Austin

    Im thinking...

    Coutinho > KDB
    Willian > Knockaert
    Trippier > 5.0 (Which ?)
    Austin > Gabbiadini/Chicarito

Thoughts on my 4-3-3? Been tinkering all day and I haven't changed a thing. I have attempted to switch to 3-4-3 but keep coming back to this. My plan is down downgrade Alonso/KDB to do Jesus>Lukaku if Romelu starts strong.. Waiting for news on Trippier.

    Foster

    KDB, Zaha, Willian

Anyone else consider Wijnaldum. Got 149 points last year and 170 the year before that. He is only 7m although there is alot of value at that price this year. Not ure is he nailed onto start every game but with coutinho looking like he is leaving and Lallana being injured. That leaves kust him Can and Henderson for the central role and henderson is a doubt. Has two good games to start and Tom Carroll can cover his next two difficult games

Yeah I have overlooked his previous good record against strong opposition. If i recall he did well at home last year. Certainly worth consideration. Might get the nod in my team for first few anyway

He's a great consideration but I'm not going for him yet just because I think Klopp will line up with Hendo/Can/Coutinho in midfield. When Hazard is back and Willian is out of the Chelsea team it's an easy swap to Gini or Ramsey.

I've gone top heavy (lukaku Kane Jesus) due to uncertainty in the budget striker region, here are my concerns which might be similar to yours below

Chicharito: match fitness, new team, wait and see type
    Austin: nailed on question mark
    Gabbiadini: minutes shared with Austin?
    Gayle: minutes with mitrovic
Rodriguez: wba... Not the most attacking team (has fixtures though)
    Abraham: bad fixtures

Is there a gem I'm missing in the budget boys?

Austin/Gabbiadini: not nailed; not a fan of Southampton attack even at home
Rodriguez: also not a fan of WBA attack
      Abraham: yes bad fixtures

Gayle: don't think the minutes matter too much, I think Newcastle will score most of their goals with him on the pitch.

same front 3 for me, none of the cheap 3rd strikers seem worth it atm, whereas plenty of mids I feel worth the cash, easy to downgrade later when things are clearer

What do you think? Too much unbalanced ?
    DDG (Elliot )
    Ake Dawson Danilo Cedric
Fraser Fabregas Mane (Milivojevic, Tom C)
    Kane Lukaku Jesus

Plan to downgrade worst forward to upgrade mid after few GWs when i find good 6-9mil Striker option

Very similar to mine. I am going with Fraser and Salah over Mane and milo

      Playing 343.

I think the big 3 up top is a good way to start

Depends on the rest of your attack and midfield, I'd rather get Gayle.
