Our series of summer members’ articles continues this afternoon as we assess what’s on offer at the managerial merry-go-round that is Watford.

To begin with, we analyse the Hornets’ performances on a team level, checking out last season’s data in order to spot trends and areas of improvement. Following that, we take a look at the players to pinpoint their key individuals.

For this article, we also focus on new manager Marco Silva’s impact on his former club Hull City after an impressive stint at the KCOM Stadidum during the second half of 2016/17.

Watford parted company with Quique Sanchez Flores at the end of 2015/16, scoring 40 times on their way to finishing in thirteenth spot on 45 points.

Yet the now-departed Walter Mazzarri failed to improve upon those performances in his only season at the helm. The Vicarage Road outfit scored the same number of goals but picked up just 40 points, ending the campaign in seventeenth position.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Missing anything to improve?

    DDG - Elliot
    Kolasinac - Cedric - Francis - Mee - Mariappa
    KDB - Eriksen - Salah - RLC - Carroll
    Kane - Lukaku - Mitrovic

    Mid needs more balance?
Maybe Begovic + Hart and 0.5 itb to spend elsewhere

No. you're fine. This is a great team. Go for it. Five big hitters mean you have to make some sacrifices but this is a very good version. Obviously once the cheap performers come to the fore you are going to have to change and perhaps downgrade one of the five big hitters.

What's wrong with the PPM in the official scout stats? can someone explain to me https://fantasy.premierleague.com/a/statistics/points_per_game

According to them Jesus PPM is 6.7

But if you calculate it from the history. 67/(651/90), you get 9.26

    What am I missing?

Isn't it better to divide the total minutes played by 90 to get a better picture?

It's not important if the player doesn't play 90 most games.
Players who super sub get higher numbers.

Exactly this. It's an extreme example, but if a player only gets 1 minute cameos, he would have 90 points per 90.

I have been an Arsenal fan for 5 years and a writer for 2. From the Community Shield win yesterday, I can see how we will line up on Friday.

    Cech
    Holding(Mertesacker)-Monreal-Kolasinac
    Bellerin-Xhaka-Ramsey(ElNeny)-Ox
    Ozil-(Iwobi)Welbeck
    Lacazette

Kolasinac might start in the LWB role which would mean Mertesacker will come to the 3 man defence having no place for Chamberlain or Bellerin. Given than Ox has been in wonderful form, AW should look to adjust the formation to include all our in-form players. However, Bellerin is not in a very good touch, he is a key part of the playing XI.

Holding has impressed and we have labelled him as the future captain material. But, Mertesacker's presence will mean a presence of a leader.

El Neny has played Oop in Defence in Preseason and had played beside Xhaka yesterday. The combination brought the best out of both. So, however, least likely, El Neny could get the nod ahead of Ramsey.

Further forward, Ozil will surely come back to the team. Which means either of Iwobi, Welbeck or Sanchez will feature. Wenger should go to Welbeck for a more attacking threat to support the new arrival Lacazette.

Which leaves with the answer everyone is wanting to hear. Yes, Sanchez is less likely to start on Friday. But, surely, he will come from the bench in 68ish minutes. He should feature regularly from GW 2.

FPL prospect-wise: Kolasinac looks the best option. If he plays in the LWB role, he will get involved in the attack. We see what we can do from headers too. So, spending 6.0m on his shouldn't make you regret on a long term.

When it comes to attacking, I would just wait and watch. I would like to rule out Ramsey because he is not clinical enough. One name, for now, would be Lacazette. But, it is his first PL game, so he will not be explosive and is expected to be subbed in 68ish minutes. From GW 3/4, Sanchez should get some heavy transfer ins. Ozil is a cheaper option, but again, not explosive like similarly priced Mane.

Triple Saints, eh? Me too! (Cedric, Stephens, JWP in my case)

If you forget about "coverage" and look at fixtures and prices, Saints options are very enticing. And thanks to those prices you have got yourself a strong and well-balanced line up there (maybe not Brady but you gotta have your own punt somewhere!)

I don't think so. Smith should start over him. However, it is possible he starts over Ake at CB just for GW1.

Heading into the season Martial and Mkhitaryan are the only candidates to start out wide. They have innovative ability at their feet, they perfectly complement each other in most situations, and others have not performed to an equal standard...

Everyone seems to have Pogba.... The differential seems to lie in Martial and Mkhitaryan

The way Martial and Mkhitaryan are playing, the only reason Mourinho should want to sign a winger is squad depth!!

Absolutely. Don't think he'll be rotated. I have him a my 7th ranked defender and all the players high than him for 6.0 or less are injured (Trippier) or have terrible fixtures (the Everton fulbacks).

Going with KDB for City attack. Not expolsive but will get points consistantly.

But in a city side surely you want the explosivness of their players?

    Alonso......

Is he really worth the 7 million as a defender? I know he is technically a mid winger... but 7 MILLION???? I cant seem to justify having him at that price.

It's a tough call. These are the questions that won't be answered for weeks.

        Yea, my thinking exactly.

The community shield didnt fill me with confidence in Chelsea at all... they look like they have holes everywhere in their team at the moment.

I tend to agree with you.
He'a no Baines in his prime.
Plus, I suspect regression from CHE defense (Europe factor).

B, both for points and nailedness. Do keep in mind that it's 0.5 more expensive though.
