Swansea’s fine 3-2 win over Arsenal concludes the weekend action, leaving tomorrow evening’s clash between Wigan and City as the only unfinished business in the Gameweek. Time then, for us to extract the key statistics from our Members area and make a stab at the destination of the Fantasy Premier League bonus points…
I must say Dyer's returns of 10 10 and prob 13 have been some of my sweetest, most undeserved points of the season! I just never got round to binning him!
Open ControlsHaha same here

Here's another looooong post - "When to WC". Just systematically going through my thinking when I decided which GW to WC - hope it helps you decide too if you haven't already. If you have another WC remaining, disregard this.
CRITERIA
Since the wildcard grants unlimited transfers until the GW deadline, the timing of it is a compromise of 6 factors:
TEAM-DEPENDENT FACTORS
A) How many transfers do you need to make?
B) How many transfers might you need to make after your WC?
C) How many points will you lose while waiting for it? (if at all)
D) How many points will you gain from using it? (if at all)
TEAM-INDEPENDENT FACTORS
E) How much information do you have?
F) How much time do you have to trade players for profit?
APPLICATION
Currently like many I have quite a few United, Spurs and Arsenal players and also some poor sods who play for Everton. Given the big clashes this GW and Everton's form, let's consider if I went for this GW. The answer to A and C would seem to be LOTS and LOTS.
At the same time if I specifically WCed against those three clubs I would obviously at some point want to bring some of them back later, making the answer to B LOTS. I would possibly gain points over that GW and even the next 3 perhaps. But I wouldn't be set up for the long term and there's have an opportunity cost - I wouldn't be able to respond to new trends because I'd be busy making these enforced transfers. So the answer to D is NOT SO MUCH.
Information. The longer you wait in January the more information you gain regarding transfers, injuries, suspensions, true form (think McClean) and the considerable list of big players returning from injury. So the answer to E would be NOT AS MUCH AS GW23/24. But for information GW23 is even better than GW24 because the GW starts just before the transfer window closes, and you know the team sheets for Chelsea, Arsenal, United, City and Liverpool!
Time. That's where the final factor F comes into play - the break before GW23 is 10 days whereas it's only 3 for GW24. That's a whole week less to chase profit in a GW. Price changes could well be turbulent in GW23 because that's when the fixtures turn and thus the players turn.
CONCLUSION
So I've gone for GW23. Yes, I may well have a crap week this GW. But it's a marathon, not a sprint - and I'm choosing the 16 other GWs over the coming one.
Just a final thing - GW23 is not necessarily the best for you because factors A, B, C and D are team-dependent. If you are set up well and don't need to make many transfers, you could wait til the end. Alternatively, if your team is horrible you could do it now. But GW23 looks like the best compromise. Suck it and see.Open Controlsi hope im the only one who couldnt be arsed reading all of that
Open ControlsI also decided gw 23 dealine would be best due to the hard to predicty fixtures of Gw 22 and as you say the line ups ready for Gw 23, however I panicked when I tried to sort my line up for this gw and realised I had to.
Open ControlsGood read. Looks like I'll use it next week then.
Open ControlsWell done - great work. I can wait one more week - GW 24 seemed to far away.
Open ControlsIt's like I'm trying to set the Guinness World Record for longest FFS post anyone ever reached the end of - surprised anyone stuck with it tbh. Thanks for clarifying the last WC GW issue too, wouldn't that be a nightmare?
Open ControlsBlimey Isaacki! Awesome posting yet again - why don't you submit these into the Scouts first and make a name for yourself?
Open ControlsMuch appreciated Jafa but I've always felt it's only right to get a decent finish in my first serious year of FPL before I start suggesting what much more experienced players do - I'll practice what I preach first and see how it goes!
Open Controls
Is it worth bringing in anyone for Ade for next 2 GWs? Was planning to get rid in my WC but he has got Wigan next.
Open ControlsIm currently pondering this aswell... will lose some money on him if i keep, but probably getting rid as his form has been bad the recent week anyways
Open ControlsAguero, have 2 fts and its either gonna be Ade & Jones > Aguero & Kelly, or Dyer & Jones > Sess & Senderos if I decide to keep..
Open Controls
I really think the bubble has burst on Ade, he was scoring a lot of goals but missing a lot too. I couldn't stand watching him lumber about like a giraffe hit with a tranquilizer dart any longer and binned him for a 2 week punt on Bent.
Open Controls
Holy Cr%p!
Just checking the GK stats to see who I can get to rotate for reasonably cheap.. Noticed that Hennessey, despite only getting 2 Cs's is 7th in GK's due to 109 saves!!!
That's 28 ahead of second placed Vorm!Open ControlsThis is going to be close.
Me: 48pts pre bonus with Silva to play.
Him: 29 pts with Silva and Aguero (C)
Hopefully Aguero has a quiet day!!Open ControlsHe needs 10 points from Aguero basically, so two scores minimum, goal and assist plus baps
Open Controls
NIght all. I realized that I made a mistake and didn't WC GW 21. But looking on the bright side loving my potential WC team. I might go something different and will go expensive in defense. 4 4 2. We'll see what will happen in the end
Open ControlsCurrently: Skrtel, Huth, Micah Richards, Cahill/ Risse and Senderos
Open ControlsIm going with Richards and Huth as my biggies, JEvans for Value big team, and two cheapsters
I was considering Cahill, but he will be rotated, and their fixtures arent greatOpen ControlsI will have Richards, Skrtel, Evans or BAE, Senderos or Kelly and Raylor I think
Open Controls
I think my main wildcard choice will be the classic choice between stars and scrubs and having a completely balanced team that has the potential to annoy me with points from the bench. This is nowhere near finished but for instance:
Vorm Krul
Richards Evans Enrique Cahill Senderos/Kelly
Silva Bale Dempsey Sessegnon Dyer
RVP Adebayor Sturridge
OR
Vorm Krul
Richards Evans Enrique Cahill BAE/Dawson
Bale Demspey Sessegnon Walters Cabaye
RVP Adebayor Sturridge
The second one would be better if Evans gets dropped or Richards/Cahill are rested but has the potential to annoy me when the person I bench due to harder fixtures inevitably outscores the guy I play. How is everyone else approaching their WC?Open ControlsHowdy guys.. I have been resisting putting my team up but I think I've got it.. So this is my final WC team.. Please rip it to shreds as all comments/ assistance is welcomed..
Al Habsi/ Vorm
Richards/ Evans/ Simpson/ gabiddon/ Cahill (if Chelsea transfer is complete)
Silva/ Valencia/ bale/ Sess/ Moses
VP/ Aguero/ sturridge
0.7 left in the bank
What you guys think and what can I do to make it better?Open ControlsNice team but I would spend more cash in defense
Open ControlsI notice you have al habsi with vorn , is he the best to rotate with?
i too am looking for a partner for vormOpen Controls
Senderos and Evans
or
Kelly and BAE (or another defender for 5.3 or less)
other defenders would be Richards, Skrtel and either Raylor (if he continues OOP) or SantonOpen ControlsI wanted to hold off on the wildcard but after seeing my team I don't think I can wait.
I think I'll be forced to use it this week.Open ControlsTo the people with 2 wildcards left, is anyone else playing theirs this week and setting up a squad for the next 6 weeks before wildcarding again when the fixtures for the top sides turn a bit?
Open Controlsywp
Open Controls
Use wildcard or hold out for another week?
Vorm
Baines - Evans - G Johnson - Huth
Ireland - Ramires - Silva - Bale
Fletcher - RVP
Cerny. Samba - Allen - Ade(n/a)Open ControlsHang in there
Open ControlsIf Samba is fit I'd play him over Evans, hold off on the wc, interesting Ireland differential in there
Open ControlsYeah, had him on bench this week, although he comes in if Silva doesn't play. I'll prob leave him in even when using wc as Villa have some nice fixtures. Good shout on Samba.
Open Controls
No transfers?
Open ControlsUsed already to make the above team. Had to ship out Yak for Fletcher whilst I could afford it.
Open Controls
Wat ye think of my WC team
Given/Vorm
Evans/Jones/Bosingwa/Simpson/Enrique
Silva/Walters/Bale/Larsson/Ferguson
Morrison/RVP/Aguero
.7 in bank...
Ok or poor?Open ControlsPoor
Given needs to go, Vorm... hmm, Arsenal cracked the Liberty Stadium code today, Evans risky but worth it, Ferguson should not still be appearing in wc teams.Open ControlsGiven is fine aint gettin rid f him.... Ferguson same heel be sub 3 for every gameweek giving me a choice of 10from12 outfield players...i can utilise my cash better on better players! What you tink of my midfield and forwards??
Open Controls
How do you only have 0.7 in the bank?! Apart from RVP and Aguero, that's mostly mids and budgets. As already mentioned, don't use Ferguson. I'd only agree with about 7 out of your 15, personally...
Open ControlsI tend to agree, double United defence that I've only just noticed, Bosingwa is in there, Given will bite you, Villa don't keep many Cs and he doesn't make enough saves to compensate (unlike Hennessey). You'll be playing Walters every week, which is 2 points each away game. Forwards are ok
Open Controls
I agree there are much better options than Given. Bosingwa too? Not sure about Jones either, I'd probably downgrade both and upgrade Larsson and switch Ferguson for someone useful.
Open ControlsMcLean is only 0.4 more than him, and he actually plays, Surman is only 0.3 more, he doesn't play every week, but he still plays more than Ferguson
Open ControlsOk guys my revised WC team since ye ripped my last1 to shreds!!!!!!
Vorm/Mignolet
Evans/BAE/Enrique/Simpson/Cahill (chelsea depending)
Silva/Walters/Bale/Valencia/Ferguson (Leave it im keeping him!!!!!)
Morrison/RVP/Aguerro
Better??Open Controls
Do u think Torres will get some bonus points with that fabulous assist?
Open ControlsWc dilemma.....
Vorm/Kenny
Richards/Huth/JEvans/Kelly
Dempsey/Walters/Sessegnon/Bale
RVP/Aguero
Do i go with...
1. Caulker, Moses, Rooney
2. Raylor, Silva, Graham(Morrison)
??Open Controls2 by a long way, that way you can rotate Walters and Sess.
Silva will outscore Moses, Raylor will outscore Caulker and Rooney, Aguero and RvP is just too top heavy IMOOpen ControlsI prefer 2
Open Controls
So if Aguero scores at least one tomorrow...
1. I win £5
2. I potentially go first in my mini-league
If not, well...I'm screwedOpen Controlsa bit of perspective for arsenal's loss today.
at rb they had their 4th choice right back, at lb they had their 5th choice left back, and when everyone is fit mertesacker is 3rd choice centre back.Open Controlswhich begs the question why do they have a team of lepers? sack the fitness coaches/nutritionists/whoever
Open ControlsI really think the full backs are whats letting us down at the moment. Djourou offers nothing going forwards and isnt comforable with his positioning. Miquel tried hard to get forwards but let himself down with some pretty poor delivery. This takes away a lot of the pressure on tdhe opponents defence and invites them forwards. Makes you realise how important Sagna was.
Open ControlsPffft. If you aren't playing your winger at RB and your midfielder as centre back then it isn't an injury crisis.
Open ControlsI wouldn't take too much away from de Swans either though, i thought they played really really well. Unreal composure on the ball right up till the end.
Open Controlsoh definitely, in the centre of the pitch britton especially completely schooled ramsey
Open Controlsreally liked the look of gilfy too. If i see him taking one FK he's straight in.
Open Controls
I still don't understand why Arsenal didn't bite the bullet in the summer and buy a Cahill or Samba type centre back. It was clear they needed it (and still do). Arsenal, despite their injuries have not bought well at all imo.
Open ControlsThey did, they bought Mertesacker. Wenger does not know what a defender is, he never has.
Open ControlsHa! Yeah thought my reference to a "Cahill or Samba" type cb, means I was clearly excluding Mertesacker! Verm, and Koscielny, whilst good on paper, will probably only ever play about 5 games together a season! Mertesacker always felt like a "look, I bought a defender" from Wenger.
Open ControlsDoes he not deserve a bit of time to adapt to a new team and league? The guy has barely played 20 games yet and he's already consigned to the scrap heap! How did he ever managed to win 80 caps for Germany?
Open ControlsIn fairness he looks like muck it wouldn't be hard to improve.
Open ControlsI'm not an Arsenal fan, so no consigning here. Just my observation from his 20 games that he looks slow, clumsy, and isn't reading the game very well. Wenger almost certainly had the option to buy a proven premier league defender in the summer, but didn't.
Open Controls
Is it time to part Kompany??? 😉
My other WC defenders are Enrique, Evans, Raylor, CahillOpen ControlsNani about to drop in price. Who should i replace him with. Replace with Silva??? Or could go cheap and upgrade one of strikers next week
Open Controlsyour other mids are?
Open Controlstake Mata for Chelsea coverage.i juz bring him in.hope its work !
Open Controls
Front 8:
Holy Moly, Nani, Silva, Bale, Dyer
RVP, Rooney, Ade.
How would you get Sess into that lot with only .9 to spend? Two freebies.
I could remove Nani but it would mean at a considerable price loss.Open Controlschuck ade and upgrade moses or dyer
Open ControlsBig price loss on Ade too and WIG the following week. But I take your idea and one that I've considered esp with 2,2,2,2 to his name.
Another problem is the lack of CFs to replace him with as no one really appeals apart from Aguero.Open ControlsBent?
Open Controls
good g-d man we need to stop agreeing on things
Open Controls
well Ade isn't doing anything atm and can't play next week, lose him for Fletcher and upgrade the Holy One
Open ControlsFletcher and Morison will both outscore Ade this week.
As for the Wigan game, well he did nothing vs Everton or Wolves, why should Wigan be any different. He is just not value for money, far more consistent performers for much less money.Open Controls
Ade > Graham/Morrisson?
Open Controls
Any advice on this wildcard?
Vorm, Mignolet
Richards, Enrique, Simpson, j Evans, shotton
Dempsey, silva, nani, sess, Moses
VP, aguero, sturridge
Nani to mata perhaps? I'm not fond of Bale. Lousy fixtures and he never brings me points.
Thoughts?Open Controlsis David Silva going to play?
Open ControlsOk guys my revised WC team since ye ripped my last1 to shreds!!!!!!
Vorm/Mignolet
Evans/BAE/Enrique/Simpson/Cahill (chelsea depending)
Silva/Walters/Bale/Valencia/Ferguson (Leave it im keeping him!!!!!)
Morrison/RVP/Aguerro
1mill in da bank!
Better??Open ControlsCould also upgrade Aguero to Rooney...Prob will do that actually! Leaves .1 in bank!
Open ControlsMignolet is good as long as he stays but check his rotation with Vorm. I'd have Skrtel over Enrique, but it's really neither here nor there. it's a better team, but why keep Ferguson when you have 1 million in the bank and you could get someone WHO ACTUALLY PLAYS, or even just get McLean in for him and go BAE or Cahill - Richards/Kompany
Open ControlsRotation ok...Have Enrique for 5.5 so will keep him...Nah goin with Rooney instead of Aguerro now for fixtures so no extra milly in da bank!... Wat are u talkin bout at the back? Dont understand lol.
Open Controls
You are absolutely wasting your wc and your ability to write on this forum if you are still even contemplating keeping Ferguson in your team! 🙂
Open Controlswhat he said!!!
Open ControlsOK OK OK!!!!!
Final team....for now LOOOOOL
Vorm/Mignolet
Evans/Caulker/Enrique/Simpson/Richards
Silva/Walters/Bale/Valencia/Mcclean
Morrison/RVP/Rooney
OK now??Open ControlsYes ok! I'd do Rooney back to Aguero. Simpson to Santon. Caulker to Shawcross. But that's just me...
Open Controls
Do you guys think Richards will go up by .2 this week? I think he might due to the number of people who'll be swapping Kompany out for him. Looking to make some money with the wildcard.
Open ControlsPossible rise tonight, if your on WC go for it now, u can always get rid fri nite/sat morning.
Open ControlsWho do you think is more likely: BAE or Richards? Just realised I can't work both in.
Open ControlsAccording to the figures Richards looks more likely to rise tonight. I reckon he's as likely to rise by .2 as BAE tbh.
Open ControlsWhat are you looking at? BAE over 4000 transfers in today, Richards just 829. BAE has a much better chance of the second rise.
Open ControlsJust looked and BAE is getting a lot more transfers in so I think I'll stick with him. Thanks for the input.
Open Controls
It's funny seeing all the Rooney owners on here arguing that Rooney "deserves" the assist, even if it's not strictly in line with the rules of the game.
I seem to recall a certain Rooney assist in the 8-2 Arsenal game where he crossed into the box, ball got cleared by a defender to Young, who then curled the ball in from outside the box. Where were all the Rooney owners then to argue whether he "deserved" the assist?
To me, rules are rules. Black and white. There's no such thing as whether an assist is "deserved", cos that brings in a huge degree of subjectivity. Did Young himself "deserve" his two assists for tapping the ball to Rooney then in that 8-2 match?Open ControlsExactly right
Open Controls"These undeserved assist points to slight touches that have no direct influence on the goals are a flaw in the rules and a detriment on an otherwise great game."
You both disagree I take it?Open ControlsThe assist rule is flawed- I agree. But it's just not possible to have a perfect rule anyway. But despite its flaws, the current rule is still more objective than what you're proposing.
What next? Change the rules for goals to rule out "undeserved goals"? e.g a player does an awesome chip over the keeper, the ball is goal bound but the gets tapped in by someone else on the line to make sure of the goal. Are you going to give the goal to the guy who made the initial chip simply cos he did all the hard work and created the goal?Open ControlsKeep to what we were discussing rather than coming up with ridiculous suppositions.
Open ControlsHow is it ridiculous? Same theory mate. Last touch gets the goal. Just like how last touch gets the assist.
How do you determine whether someone "deserves" an assist without adding subjectivity into the process?
The current rule- whilst flawed- is still objective. In any case, does it really make sense for Rooney owners to be blaming the rule as part of their argument? You take the good with the bad- can't have it both ways mate.Open ControlsDon't want it both ways. All I was saying was that in these cases, where there is no clear cut evidence to take it away, and it was the key pass that led to the goal, it deserves to be upheld as an assist. If there was clear evidence that it touched Wellbeck, fair enough, but it still a flawed system that could do with fixing.
Open ControlsWhat about the second assist then? Thoughts? You reckon it's still an assist?
I also recall Aguero losing an assist in dubious circumstances too against Arsenal I think (for a Silva goal). That's no different to Rooney's assists imo.Open Controls
I'm being drawn to Fat Frank as he could prove a cracking differential
Open ControlsMorning everyone, 3 red arrows in a trot and so I come for your expert advises 🙂
Team is,
Vorm, Ruddy
Jones, Jevans, Clark, Naylor, Simpson
Silva, Nani, VDV, Bale, Moses
RVP, Ade, Studge - On wc and 0.7 in the bank
1. Plan to sell Ade/Nani for Aguero/Dempsey, decent move?
2. VDV for ??
3. Any suggestion to replace Jones, Jevans and Clark? Which cheapos rotates well? Plan to get Kompany once he's back.
Any thoughts appreciated 😀Open ControlsSunderland and Newcastle rotate pretty well so that could be an option. YOu should get a Sunderland GK/DEF for the next 2 games, clean sheet potential
Open Controlsfor me :
jones > richards
ruddy > 4.4m (sorensen maybe)
nani > valencia
then, try get fulham def.Open ControlsConsidering you're getting rid of Nani, I'd get Valencia for VDV. That's what I think I'll do anyway. This is expert advice from someone who's had 9 red arrows in 11 weeks. Caveat emptor!
Open ControlsOuch thats gotta hurt mate 😡
Haven't been watching alot of United but people here seems to dig Valencia although he sometimes play reverse oop. Guess Nani and Rooney aren't consistent enough for their prices 😕
But yeah id still like a United cover and Valencia seems to be enough. Thanks for the shout.Open ControlsThankfully none of them have been catastrophic but I'm starting to forget what a green arrow looks like.
United are slowly getting defenders back so I'd be surprised if he's at right back anytime soon.
Valencia could easily have had 2 or 3 assists yesterday, looks very sharp. Looks more likely than Nani at the moment and imo Nani is definitely not worth 2.5 million more even if he does score a few more points in the end.Open ControlsYou'd be climbing up the ranking again with that team 🙂 also like the Gerrard punt.
Yeah I might go with Valencia afterall in the wc team. Probably like Ramires, kinda cheap and effective.
What do you reckon with the Ade/Nani to Kun/Dempsey transfer?Open ControlsThat is the money making team! Probably won't stick with that at all. I'm not sure about whether I'll keep Gerrard or not at the moment. Aguero shall be coming in so there will be changes.
When I actually finalise my WC team I will have done that exact transfer so I clearly like it! I'm sick of Ade and there's better value out there. I'm a huge Dempsey fan in FPL terms, only worry is the lack of returns since Zamora's return.
Final team will probably look something like this:
Sorenson/Schwarzer
Senderos, Kompany, Simpson, Caulker, TBD
Dempsey, Valencia, Bale, Walters, McLean. (Might try and work Silva/Gerrard in)
Fletcher, RVP, AgueroOpen Controls
