Steven Gerrard will undergo a scan today to assess the extent of a hamstring injury sustained in England’s 2-1 friendly defeat to France last night at Wembley. Gerrard left the field after 84 minutes with the problem, breaking an agreement between Liverpool and England stating that the midfielder would only play for an hour.

The prognosis is not yet known, although the Daily Telegraph’s Henry Winter has reported through his Twitter account, that Gerrard could be out of action for 4-5 weeks…

The Reds were left fuming after Fabio Capello decided to break their promise by keeping the player on the field. Liverpool’s head of fitness and conditioning Darren Burgess vented his anger on Twitter, although the rant was removed shortly afterwards…

“Unbelievable from all associated with England and English FA with regard to Steven Gerrard’s injury. Completely ignored agreement and past history.”

The Liverpool captain’s possible spell on the sidelines will come as a massive blow for Roy Hodgson’s men and a large proportion of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Managers, with the player currently boasting 12.9% ownership. Although one of the most expensive players in the FPL game at £11.4 and by no means enjoying his greatest season, Gerrard has managed to notch-up a steady 57 points this so far this term and could leave Fantasy Football Managers with a dilemma.

With the probable absence of Gerrard and Lucas Leiva’s suspension, Liverpool are facing a crisis in midfield for the visit of West Ham on Saturday. This surely means that, along with Raul Meireles, Christian Poulsen will start the game and the likes of Jonjo Shelvey and Jay Spearing could hope for some minutes. With Gerrard being the regular spot-kick taker Fernando Torres, who is also a doubt, will be the likely replacement.

Saturday’s home fixture against West Ham is a must win game for Liverpool, but with doubts hanging over several key first-team regulars (Torres, Joe Cole, Dirk Kuyt and Martin Skrtel) and of course the Gerrard injury, it is already looking a potentially uncomfortable encounter for Roy Hodgson’s side.

I'm going to play Adam even though he probably won't play. I've benched Nolan, Elmohamady and Bosingwa. I think Nolan is best as first sub. What do you guys think?

He'll be the new no.2. He's 26(?) and has a pretty average career so far by all accounts.

    Okay Drogba out.

Who to replace him with? Already have Tevez and Carroll.

Torres - Getting back to his best, 'easy' home game V West Ham but Gerrard injury might curtail him and he is a doubt himself.

Elmander - Cheap, banging them in for Bolton and they have an easyish run of games.

Rooney - Risky move, but who dares wins.

Gyan - Looking world class against Chelsea, but what will his role be when Bent comes back?

I'd go for Gyan (or possibly Elmander) for now and then have a look at what Rooney's up to - bring him in if looking good.

You sure about that or guessing?

Also liverpool are bad at the best of times, without Gerrard i think they'll struggle for goals.

I'm pretty sure Torres is one of those weird strikers that doesn't take penalties (I think). For whatever reason. Not sure who it'll be, Kuyt would probably be my guess.

I was very close to doing Drogba>Gyan before he rose to 7.2. decided to keep faith in Drogba.

He will come good...I think. It's more likely than unlikely!

If Rooney or RVP show form when they return and Drogba is still being a showow of his former self, he's gone!

Gyan still has to prove he has consistency over a period of time and Everton are no mugs at the back.

It's not just Drogba, without Lampard the whole team look weaker going forward. Chelsea have tough fixtures so one or both of Malouda or Drogba is going. More strikers I want than midfielders so Drogba is going this week.

Chelsea's fixtures improve around the time of the 2nd wildcard so I can always get them back in then when Lamps is back.

With Gerrard and Kuyt out injured and big question marks over Rooney I think I'll plump for either Elmander or Gyan.

If you're not sure then keep Drogba in imo. Wait and see what the deal is regarding Rooney or Gyan and maybe switch in a couple of weeks.

I would ratehr play an off form Drogba every week than Elmander though.

Getting Nani for Arteta before poss rise tonight, but have to downgrade Drogs to do it. Do I take a punt on Rooney or play safe with Gyan who I will swop to Rooney or RVP later anyway?

Like you said re Gyan - if you have to do it now the Rooney play is open to risk and a lack of striker minutes for your team at the weekend.

Sod it, going for Rooney could be a great differential if he plays. And is fit. And hits form.....

right, so i got a couple of questions.

    1. should i get drobga out for someone like torres/rooney?
    2. should I keep gyan over elmander for the forthcoming fixtures?

who to bench out of this stella attack force?

    Fabregas VDV Nani Malouda Cahill

    Carroll Drogba Elmander

Thought Carroll was injured so brought Elmander in.. now everyone's fit and i'm stuck!

Malouda will make way for a 4.5mid next week in order to repair an out of favour back line!

    Thoughts?

Dammit O'Shea - looks like he is set to fall again soon.

Wanted to hang on as I think he will play this week, but can't take ANOTHER hit as I have had him from the start.

What do you guys think? Bin him for Kolarov (as I wanted to do next week if he doesn't play again) or take a punt as United look primed for a cleany against Wigan?

Is Kyriakos too much of a rotational risk to think about bringing in for Elmo? I like the fact that his points per game ratio is quite high but he doesn't seem to get many games.
