Eight victories and a qualifying round later and here we are, the Semi-Finals of the Paddy Power Cup V. A win at this penultimate stage guarantees a prize and, of course, a place in the Gameweek 23 Grand Final. Without further ado, the Semi-Final draw…

sleepingmaster Vs. ChickenDevil

The underdog here is 73,327th in the world sleepingmaster, who is the lowest ranked of all four Semi-Finalists. Over 65,000 places better off than him is his opponent, ChickenDevil. The difference in rank is reflected in both teams squad value. Whilst the top 10,000 ChickenDevil has coffers of over £110m to call upon, sleepingmaster is a good three million worse off. And with funds tied up with Wayne Rooney away at the Emirates, sleepingmaster needs some serious performances from the likes of Stephane Sessegnon.

Raasclart Vs. Funkyav

The second tie pits last week’s top-scorer, Raasclart, against the highest-ranked Fantasy manager, Funkyav. With Funkyav’s Wayne Rooney facing a trip to the Emirates and Raasclart’s Emmanuel Adebayor ruled out of the Gameweek, this one could come down to how those mid-priced options fair. Raasclart’s move in the transfer market for his an Adebayor replacement may also pave the way into the final.

      I really wouldn't risk captaining Sess, definitely Rooney(c) over him! Sturridge should play. Great FT though, you don't need to WC this week imo, I'd start McAuley over BAE I know he's doubtful but I think he's more likely to play 90 minutes or 0 minutes.

    Hey Guys – played my WC so now trying to work this out

    I need to find 0.1 from somewhere!

    Here is my team with 0.1 over at the moment:

    Richards Enrique Cahill Raylor (bought him for 4.5 at start) Caulker

    Silva (bought for 9.5) Bale (bought for 8.1) Valencia Sessegnon (bought for 6.1) Surman

    RVP Aguero Sturridge

    any ideas on how to find the 0.1 ? This is ideally the team I want, could swap Surman for Reo-Coker – but would rather not obviously.

    Any thoughts?

    I could swap Lindy for MIGNOLET? But I do think Lindy will get the starting spot from now on..

    How big are the doubts over Shotton and Sturridge? Looking at this for a WC team but concerned it could backfire.

      Shotton sounds a little too risky imo. Sturridge should be fine for a start, it's all opinion based atm as we don't have anything concrete, but the people who have read into it seem to think he'll start, just on the right as usual.

      I think Simpson is good enough back up in case Shotton doesn't play, but like I said I wouldn't risk it. I love the team though btw, like the Ade choice, who will you switch him to after next week?

      You not prefer Santon over Simpson? He's more likely to get assists and is generally a better player.

        Cheers for the feedback man. I think the way around it may be benching Shotton and getting Richards in the starting XI, provided he's confirmed fit to play as well.

        Not sure who Ade will be replaced with, I may end up keeping him till Demba is back. If he flops at home to Wigan that'll be it, in which case I may consider freeing up funds to get Aguero in.

        And I have a bit of a soft spot for Simpson because he's been in my team pretty much all year and all of last season as well, hadn't considered the Santon move but it's minimal risk and could definitely pay off.

      I think the back 4 atm will stay that way for a while. Santon is highly rated by Newcastle fans so I'd get him. Williamson is possibly more nailed on but apparently Newcastle are shopping for CB so you might be getting rid soon after you get him.

      Get Santon imo.

    Pardew told the Chronicle: “We still need a defender."

    I'm assuming that he means a CB as he has Santon, Raylor and Simpson already. Probably puts Williamson in a slight bit of doubt.
