Very soon we will be handing Members the ability to view the Opta performance statistics in weekly snapshots – so you’ll be able to view how players perform by the Gameweek. More on that and other “Phase two” developments later.

For now, I thought I’d give you a glimpse of the kind of analysis that this allows by dissecting the data from Gameweek 7 and assessing some of the players that leap out in terms of the key indicators – Total Crosses, Key Passes, Successful Passes in the Oppositions Half and Goal Attempts.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Can someone explain the Elmo love? Sunderland have had a few clean sheets but how long will that last? And, as far as attaccking potential / OOP goes he has had 1 assist and no goals - there are many IP (in position ) defenders with better stats than that.

I think it's because the strikers finishing has been cack, and that has kept his assists down. When Bent and Gyan get a bit more clinical, then Elmlea should get a few more points.

I don't get it either. As myself and afew others said on the last page, his final cross/shot is usually appalling and he seems like a poor man's Eboue to me- which is not promising in terms of acquiring points..at all.
But he's a bonus tramp and is playing OOP so the kid's doing well in fantasy land. He's the Egyptian Milner

      Here are my reasons:
      1. cheap.
      2. miscast as a defender.
      3. a lot of attacking potential.
      4. Sunderland's defense has been solid. They have one of the toughest fixtures: MC, MU, AR, LI, and they never conceded more than 2 goals each game.

Ages away, don't worry, you won't have to feel this pain for a while! The next break in the fixtures is for the 3rd round of the FA Cup in early January. There are also a couple of midweek ties and the busy Christmas period to have as well.

Any chance Alex will be fit for Villa? Maybe Chelski's PR team wanted to make the injury sound worse than it was in order to deter international selection. Or perhaps I should just accept that he's injured and that the rest of my defence is shit.

      Not sure to be honest.

I'm not too dismayed about his injury as I was pondering over which two to play out of Steinsson, Bale and Alex, and now my decision is made for me. However, once FPL flag the injury up, we won't get the rise to 6.5 that we may have got if he was fit.

already swapped for bosingwa, he is the cheaper option that will play. he played 70 min for reserves and surely fit after international break, ancelotti will defo play him as he is the proper roght back, ahead of ivanovic

Da Costa looks secure in the short-term - has form and has even caught Bonus. Upson is more injury prone but possibly a stronger bet long-term and is 0.1 cheaper. So it would depend if your move is for the next few weeks or for a longer spell.

Anyone have time/inclination to take a peek at my team for next week? Anything glaringly wrong?

    Robinson (Foster)
    Konchesky, Salcido, Williamson (Dann, Jara)
    Fabregas, Nani, Malouda, VDV (Routledge)
    Drogba, Elmander, Berbatov

Brought in VDV for Hleb on Saturday and currently have 0.3m in the bank to do Gerrard back to Fab later this week.

I thought it looked great when I wildcarded in GW6, but I've gone from 29,643 in GW1 to 68,443 in GW7 so must be doing something wrong ðŸ™

i'm in the same boat cat, not enough in defence. i'm thinking maybe downgrading my midfield to add some strength to my defence. a.cole is a must, a fair few quid but looks idiotic not to put him in given his returns and considering he has hit the bar and had what looked like a good goal chalked off, his score good as it is could have been immmense.

He's too expensive imo, likewise Baines. I've considered Toure, but after VDV last week I plumped for that option.

Given their scores so far Malouda, Nani and VDV are a must at the mo and I want to give Fab a chance to prove he's as good as last year. Maybe I'll just hold off a few weeks and see how it pans out. Just hope I make the right captain choices now 🙂

Many peeps think Mal will be rested next week. Unless we hear he's playing before the deadline (which can happen with Chelsea) It's a gamble on 90 mins at home to Wigan for Barton or poss 5 min Cameo from Mal at Villa.

      Well
I'll dredge up this popular question again:

      Who's keeping Malouda?

This is probably the most interesting array of opinions right now. I will have to resist the urge to ask this question every day until next Saturday.

it will depend on how certain Fabregas return is and whether there are injuries to other key players...if, say, Nani got injured, people would swap him out instead

Well obviously, should any among the 'desired 6' get hurt, it makes the choices easier. But when all six are healthy, people seem to be forced to make a choice between Malouda and VDV, with the latter winning for most, as of now.

Hi guys, which option is better:

      A) Torres > Tevez, Dempsey > Nani
      B) Torres > Tevez, Etherington > Nani, Konchesky > Jara (4 point hit)

However, with A if I dont do Konch>Jara, Konchesky will drop in value soon and Jara will rise, which may impact my future plans to bring in Cesc for GW10.
      Thoughts?

Pretty sure the fact that he just fallen in price hasn't been factored in. He should need double the trades out due to this making him really 23%.

              3) For a player to gain a second rise within a gameweek, his NTI threshold will be double the usual. Similarly to suffer a second fall within a gameweek, his NTO threshold will be double his original threshold.

probably right...I still think it's a safe bet that he falls before next GW...he can drop back to 6.5 for all I care (I'll only lose the 0.2 profit)...there are more important trades IMO...Bale will be fine and VDV is not gonna score big every week

      1) opinions on Bale > N'Zogbia?

      2) what is everyone doing with Carroll as his place isn't guaranteed anymore because of Ameobi?

A.Johnson is on fire, but he doesn't start. I tranfered him out for that very reason. N'Zogbia has 4 weeks worth of decent point grabbing fixtures

I want to get Fabs in when he appears to be fit and playing major minutes. I can transfer out Malouda or Arteta. Malouda is on most people's must have list, but I also have Drogs and Alex for Chelsea coverage. Also Lampard is coming back and may start to grab some points (Benayoun and Kalou soon available too). In addition, Ancelotti seems to like to rest key players when non-EPL games are being played midweek.

On the other hand, Arteta is as guaranteed a starter as you can have, does not play internationally or in major cups and Everton may be over its crap start. He also gets BPS.

      Opinions welcome!

Any price experts care to hazard a guess at when these will happen:
      1) Mummy's next price rise
      2) Fab's next drop

        it depends on so much...

if cheap defenders get injured in Intl games, Mummy is gonna be a top replacemnet choice...

I don't think Fab will drop unless it seems that he won't start BIR game

        1) Night before the GW8 deadline
        2) Never (unless he gets injured again)
