Very soon we will be handing Members the ability to view the Opta performance statistics in weekly snapshots – so you’ll be able to view how players perform by the Gameweek. More on that and other “Phase two” developments later.

For now, I thought I’d give you a glimpse of the kind of analysis that this allows by dissecting the data from Gameweek 7 and assessing some of the players that leap out in terms of the key indicators – Total Crosses, Key Passes, Successful Passes in the Oppositions Half and Goal Attempts.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Can see next week being a real trouble for me. Already played WC and my team has been struck by many injuries. At the moment this is what I'd be playing next week without a transfer..

    Foster
    Shawcross Konchesky Jones
Dempsey Bale Malouda N'Zog Nani (c)
    Drogba Carroll

    Harper, Torres, Alex, Jara.

Quite happy with the front 7 tbh. Can I afford to keep Torres despite his injury though? I'll be offloading eventually to get in Fabs but I don't think its the right week tbh. Do you think I can get away with just changing Harper to Krul?

i think the problem you have mr dorrans is you don't have an obvious midfielder to drop for fabregas of those 5, and if you do sell bale and torres to get fabregas then you'd have about 7mil for a striker and there is nothing really between the 5mil odemwingie/carroll/obinna and the 8.6mil bent. there's a vast 3mil chasm of inconsistent shite, so you'd be leaving yourself a bit of cash in the bank. but that extra money could maybe be used to upgrade dempsey to arteta in gw10?

Going back to the subject of Bale vs VdV - is having Bale instead of Van like having Anelka instead of Drogba? No matter how well Bale is doing Van der Vaart is the focal point of that team now. I have Bale in my team by the way

Am I mad to even consider ditching Drogba? I could have a midfield of:

    Fabs-Nani-Malouda-VdV-Arteta

    with Tevez-Carroll-Odemwingie up front.

It's very tempting but Drog has been so good this season

No, seriously, a sensible manager would keep Drogba until he breaks down.

I am not a sensible manager, but would always advise in keeping him even if there possibly are (not sure yet) ways to get round him.

Yeah I guess the fact that you've ditched Drogs is a tick in the 'Keep him' column. Strangely my desire to keep Arteta is one of my limiting factors. Looks like you're not the only one with a soft spot for a Spaniard.

Yeah I know but it's by far the easiest way of getting Fabs in.

Only other real option is to ditch Malouda. That would leave me with:

        Fabs-Nani-Arteta-Bale-4.5m
        Tevez-Drog-Carroll

(and I'd probably have to downgrade Alex)

Malouda or Drogba. That is the question, I'm leaning towards Drogba as he is so bloody expensive and if Lamps comes back he will lose pens.

Rid in GW 10 I think. May live to regret it but I will have the bollox of a mid with Arteta,VDV,Cesc,Nani & Malouda and a sound defence with Tevez spearheading.

and yet you +1 the mentalist comment! Like I said I'm leaning towards losing Drog (and apparently having the same team as you). Main fear is malouda then getting benched in GW10 but I could probably absorb that for one week.

The +1 was for Andy's benefit that he is a mentalist 😉
My def would be Alex,Mummy,Kolarov,Dann & Konchesky which I quite like and I don't worry too much about rotation as it happens to us all. Idle speculation about Malouda in GW 10 gets my goat if he is so be it, it's only one week.

If you're Wildcarding and have a 103ish balance you should be able to get that midfield in and still keep Drogba. A few of the RMTs I've seen are like that. Not much left for the defence, though.

I hate the fact that there's no 3-5-2 in Metro. The game is screaming out for it. I'm actually far more willing to play 4 at the back in Metro as defenders can score reasonably well. I do like the financial freedom in Metro but it's certainly no replacement for FPL

D'Oh! I meant 3-4-3 but goes to show how much attention I pay to it. The game is a nice little side show and you can take a few punts without losing too much. Had Milner in a few weeks ago, which I would never consider in FPL.

Yes, but not now. I had him on the bench a few times when he scored some good points, but played him against ManU, so well happy with that.

Bottom line, Sunderland aren't too bad defensivey and in Bent and Gyan they have two good target men. Quality OOP at a good price...

Stoke: how come Higgonbotham isn't starting many games? has he been pushed out the team by another fullback?

Chelsea: When Bosingwa is back do you think he will start a lot of PL games?

He might get the odd run on, but so far Hughton prefers the 4-5-1 with a more physical striker. He's very much down the list and may even be below Nile Ranger

Yeah Sas was good, as was Nihat who was a tidy little player. They were better than average quite a few years back with these players but have gone downhill very quickly which is a shame as the country loves football.

Nihat has been plagued by injuries unfortunately, he had a great first season and kicked ass in Spanish fantasy as I remember. Has now buggered back to Turkey I think.

Attila, indeed a man of character, strength, & good for a major piss up after the massacre. "Attila died in 453 on his wedding night. Some historians believe he drank to excess that night, passed out on his back, and died of a nosebleed by drowning in his own blood. Others speculate he was likely an alcoholic, common at the time, and probably died from esophageal varices rupturing. This is a hemorrhaging of of veins in the throat and stomach that results from chronic acid reflux-a result of alcoholism, common even today." He does sound like a laugh in fairness.

Tell that to Aquinum or half the other places he...err I mean I razed to the ground. The society of the Western world was within minutes of being absolutely irrevocably destroyed were it not for General Aetius and his Visigothic allies. It meant the end of the Roman Empire, but by both armies destroying each other at the Battle of the Catalaunian Fields it allowed other societies to spring up in the absence of Roman control. Societies that would eventually become the states that we know today.
One of the most important people in history, and like me he suffered from appalling hangovers

Incidentally he was not the only famous leader to have suffered from alcoholism in the ancient world - Alexander the Great was a raging alcoholic, Genghis Kahn was fond of slugging back a heroic amount of Koumiss (fermented mare's milk) and they are just the tip of a booze filled drug addled list of historical characters.
