Manchester United’s 2-1 win at the Emirates appears to have come at some cost, with Phil Jones reportedly facing “weeks” on the sidelines as just one of several casualties.

Jones was forced off after 17 minutes of the Emirates clash with an apparent ankle injury and Sir Alex Ferguson’s post match comments suggest that he could now face several weeks on the sidelines…

“It’s not good news for us…I think Jones will be out for a few weeks – it’s ankle ligaments.”

Reports state that Jones will undergo scans on the injury on Monday, at which point we will hopefully gain a confirmed term of absence.

Jones has suffered a number of knocks and niggles in his first season at Old Trafford and another setback would seem likely to diminish his Fantasy ownership further. The former Blackburn man has suffered heavy sales following his recent layoff with a jaw injury and illness.

There are also further reported knocks in the United camp, with Ferguson confirming that Michael Carrick had sustained a hamstring problem which left him stricken in the closing stages of today’s victory.

The Daily Mail also reports that Nani left the stadium in a protective boot having suffered an injury which forced him off on 75 minutes. Wayne Rooney is also reported to have been struggling with a knock which left him limping from the field on the final whistle.

Should Nani and Rooney face a spell on the sidelines, it would seem likely trigger significant FPL sales. Nani’s blank at the Emirates was his fifth consecutive game without returns, while Rooney has also gone off the boil, fetching just two assists in his last four league appearances.

We await further confirmation of those injuries from Old Trafford, with further reports likely to surface in tomorrow’s press.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

A lot talking up Valencia but with Jones injured and SAF not trusted "he with perm" then the columbian could find a little stint at Right Back - this may put an end to his recent points hauls.

await news on Jones and cup match for indicator of SAF's twisted thinking - as he will fick us all over!!

It will probably be Rafael Smalling Evans Evra or even Smalling Rio Evans Evra. Nothing much to worry about for Valencia owners, he got another assist from RB today too.

A lot of conjecture here - Raphael will surely cover for Jones, Valencia is proving far too useful in the Man Utd Attack. I understand what you are saying but I just can't see how with actual option available to SAF at RB now why he would sacrifice Valencia's creativity.

Looking forward to watching it in the morning. Still cant believe the Newcastle score, I had to drive to a friends house a couple of hours away, so I stopped watching at half time. We were 1-0 up and they were rubbish, we were totally dominant. The missus was complaining about me listening to sport on the radio, so flicked it on around FT to get the scores and heard we lost 5-2! Couldnt believe it!

It was the game of the two proverbial halves, Attila.

Fulham got a lucky break and never stopped going from that on. Pardew will have to rethink something though, as you won't be too happy to see the not very fast Clint Dempsey run through from the halfway line twice to score.

Wouldn't have done that had Tiote been playing I imagine. Funny that Gosling isnt getting much of a chance, looks a reasonable player. Certainly offers more defensively than HBA. I'm also less than keen on this new thing he seems to be doing with Jonas operating at times as a CM. Means we have a weird shape.

However, just wanted to know if anyone think this is worth it?

    2 free transfers:

    1) Richards >> Kompany

    2) Gerrard >> Silva

Or just do the second one and keep richards? i am risking it with no silva.....

I'd keep Micah, with Bad K Citeh should improve defensively and Richards was getting forward a lot against Spurs, his returns could soar. Gerrard - Silva for sure, Liverpool's fixtures about to go really bad. On that basis, maybe get Kompany in, but for Enrique?

Getting rid of Rooney is a good idea because the money is so much better spent elsewhere. Welbeck may not be the best replacement, but when he's playing he's effective and right now, he's playing (plus with the tough games coming up I expect that to continue).

I want to keep my WC till gw24 but finding it hard to ignore players such as Valencia and Dempsey who will surely rise a lot over the next 9 days.

    Krul
    Enrique, Shotton, BAE
    Nani, Bale, Sess, B Arfa
    Rooney, RVP, Zamora

Subs: Wilko, Jones, Gower / Westwood

I basically have no subs and have to start Shotton against ManU because of the Jones injury. If Nani and Rooney are injured too then I am fooked. Should I WC now and catch price rises or should I hold off?

Finger hovering over the WC. I think I have to do it even if its just to have a full bench. Cant risk not having 11 players I think especially with cup games happening

IMO prices aren't all that important now; having built up my team value to 109.4m (that's not sell value), I'm points all the way from here on in. I think there are enough good options around to work a good team whatever happens with prices this week.

A midfield of Silva, Bale, Demps, Valencia and Sess is admittedly probably ideal right now, but if that becomes out of your price range, you could do something like having Murphy instead of Dempsey and use the money elsewhere, or get a cheaper mid like Sigurdsson or Barton instead of Valencia and take Welbeck as your 3rd striker.

That said, the Man U injuries might force your (and my!) hand. I dunno about you but I wish I'd WC'd last week so I didn't have this dilemma and had a rather nice points haul from Tony V and Dempa C.

Thanks for the reply. I am more concerned with not having 11 players tbh but I'd be lying to say I wasn't interested in getting that midfield for a good price before they get too expensive. I am tossing up the two and it looks like it might be best to WC anyway at least to be sure of having 11 players available

Hmm, yeah it's a tough one, as he's at a price where there's not many great options to swap back and forth (atm with Ba gone). Perhaps Cahill is the only Chelsea coverage to have then, but he may not start every game. What do you guys think of Bent? He's had a blip but usually is consistent.

          I'm considering Bent actually.

He's not flashy and explosive like Aguero, but Nani was explosive and flashy and yet has done naff all for me lately.

I think I'm prepared to settle for steady and reliable points scorers rather than boom or bust merchants.

Nani's gone for Valencia in my WC team tonight and Bent's in too.

Forget the prices for a minute and focus on the players you think are necessary to your team.

      Vorm
      Simpson, Bad K
      RVP

are about the only ones I'd consider keeping.

If I was playing a w/c right now my front 8 would look something like:

      Dyer, Silva, Bale, Dempsey, Sess

      Aguero, RVP, Ade.

Not really keen on 8 pts. Problem is you have too many exp defenders to be able to afford the B,S,D,V,Sess midfield.

I'd start downgrading Cahill and Raylor to free up the funds.

I was thinking Enrique to Kelly

        Perhaps Richards to Santon

Then I have precisely enough for Dempsey - thats the 8 point hit

Then next GW Raylor to Jevans.

But I agree I'm not too keen on the 8 point hit.

Are you suggesting I use just my FT this week to downgrade one defender - I would probably do Enrique to Kelly.
