Wisdom Of The Crowd – Gameweek 10

Each week we review the aggregated predictions on Superbru’s Premier League Predictor game, using the collective Wisdom of the Crowd predictions to guide our fantasy football thinking.

Please join the FFS league here and add your own predictions to the data – the more there are, the more accurate the crowd should be (in theory).

Gameweek 9 Review

Manchester  United suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of Huddersfield, losing 2-1 in a result predicted by just 1% of people on Superbru.

Away wins for Brighton and Bournemouth also delivered unexpected glory for the south coast, whilst Manchester City’s 3-0 was exactly the score predicted by the crowd last week.

Here are the Gameweek 9 results in descending order of predictability:

Well done to Mike Mitzner from the USA for winning the Yellow Cap in the FFS pool, correctly predicting every match except Man United’s defeat.  Mr Crowd Wisdom – using the aggregated predictions of the crowd – had another good round and climbed eight places into 43rd.

After nine rounds, the Crowd Wisdom user is in the top 8% of all players in the UK and the top 12% of over 63,000 players around the world

The aggregated predictions of the community are making better predictions than most individual players in the game, suggesting that there is credibility in the Wisdom of the Crowd concept.

Gameweek 10 Preview

Here is the Expected Goals chart for each fixture in GW10:

And here is the ranking of teams in order of Expected Goals Scored and Conceded:

For the third week in a row, Man City are predicted to be the most prolific in front of goal, further underlining the frustrations of trying to guess  the starting lineup.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Watford are also predicted to perform well, suggesting that we should consider the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Alvaro Morata, Mo Salah and Richarlison in our attacking lineups.

Arsenal’s defence could also deliver points, as the only side predicted to keep a clean sheet, although Man City aren’t far behind them – Nacho Monreal and Nicolas Otamendi could be the key targets here, with the promise of points at both ends of the pitch.

Here are the aggregated predictions that we’ll enter into the game for Mr Crowd Wisdom in the FFS pool.

Is there anything else that catches your eye in these crowd predictions?

Don’t forget to join the FFS league on Superbru and make your predictions each week so that they are included in these data – the more knowledgeable people there are, the more accurate they should be in theory.

Good luck!

This method doesn't really predict the clean sheets - but more reliable as to winners and total goals scored I think

Not looking good for clean sheets then..?
Can’t get an Arsenal defender as it will break my 5 mil sealing on defenders rule..
Hope Sanchez is the scorer of those 2 goals as he’s my captain... 😉
