The feast or famine continues for Harry Kane. Backed by 607,000 new owners and 1.4 million armbands for Gameweek 11, the Spurs striker once again frustrated at Wembley Stadium.

We have, of course, been here before.

Kane has been the top captain pick on just two occasions this season: today against Crystal Palace and back in Gameweek 8 for the home fixture with Bournemouth. He returned two points in both matches.

Indeed, Sunday’s blank was his fifth in six “home” fixtures this season, with a brace and 16 points against Liverpool in Gameweek 9 the only respite.

Ordinarily, we can point to Kane’s numbers as reassurance. However, just two shots, with one effort on target against the Eagles is a modest set of figures – his worst of the campaign so far.

The “unexpected” outcome delivered a most satisfying weekend for the 250,000 who opted for the 15-point Mohamed Salah as their captain, or indeed the 800,000 who trusted one of Alvaro Morata, Sergio Aguero or Gabriel Jesus.

Spurs’ leggy display post Champions League, together with a much-changed teamsheet, clearly hindered Kane’s prospects. Perhaps we should have anticipated as much.

However, there’s no denying that the encounter with Palace ticked all the boxes as a favourable fixture. Roy Hodgson’s men were without a clean sheet, with 12 goals shipped in five away trips before today.

Plus, in Spurs’ last two matches that followed European ties – including an away trip to Madrid – Mauricio Pochettino’s attack had twice fired four goals, with Kane earning a brace in both. There was no talk of fatigue on those occasions.

We can clutch at straws and, yet again, try to decipher some data and theories to feed our future decisions on Kane, but the fact is, he almost defies all logic.

When he scores, he has not been restricted to a single goal in a match since the first of two fixtures in Gameweek 37 last season – a strike in a 2-1 win over Manchester United.

A total of 15 goals have come from eight matches. Over those fixtures, Kane has produced huge FPL scores via two hat-tricks and four braces, with maximum bonus points each and every time.

No other forward can match that level of explosive potential. That’s the reason behind his ownership, and why 1.4 million captained him for Sunday’s clash.

We clearly have a choice. We either show resolve and grit our teeth through the blanks, or risk turning our backs on Kane. The alternative is to allocate 12.8 of our budget on a player and not hand them the armband.

Are we really proposing we can consider that idea for home matches against bottom three sides? It’s an option, but it’s not easy to justify.

So perhaps we dare to go without Kane and back one of two Manchester City strikers seemingly locked in rotation. Or perhaps Morata, who suffered a six-match goal drought before today’s header. Or even Lukaku, who has no goals in his last seven outings.

Our confidence in Salah has grown, but is he really at the level where we can trust him with the armband week after week?

These alternatives are hardly convincing. At least, not yet.

That leaves us back at square one.

For all the frustration and rage that Kane creates, he remains a player that is intimidating to ignore and arguably too expensive not to trust with the captaincy.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

There's a midfielder who is flying under the radar on here. He is in good form, having returned in two of the last three game weeks. He is cheap and works as an enabler for a big three up top. He has an amazing run of fixtures coming up.

    That's right - I'm preaching Surman.

If not downgrade one of Cesc/Choupo/Gross to a 4.5m (RLC has good fixtures) and upgrade Rosenior.

I just think RLC is 4.5m and Palace have a lovely fixture run. You could rotate RLC Gross Choupo in a 343 then and use the money made from downgrading Cesc to sort out the DF. I wouldn't go hit crazy though as you're strikers are spot on moving forward with the 2 City mids

Have 2.5 itb and 0 FTs, most likely going to save this week but what's my most urgent move?

    Pope
    Jones - Daniels - Naughton - Ward
    Salah - Sané - Richarlison
    Aguero - Jesus - Morata
    (Elliot - RLC - Bavies - TC)

    Looking at
    A) Jesus -> Lukaku
    B) Bavies -> Azpi
    C) Doubling up on Salah and Mané (not sure how exactly)

Advice appreciated here. Am looking to bring in Sane probably by GW 14 for either Gross or Richarlison (to add to my current City coverage of Silva/Jesus). However, I'm worried with price changes over the IB he could be out of my reach by then - so, is it worth doing Silva > Sane now, and maybe looking to get Silva back in 2-3 weeks? (Silva looking more likely to drop than rise in the meantime).

Ramsey and Kola seems to mee the only players from Arsenal i would want to have, i don´t thrust them but these two are the exception because of their price.I know we can´t thrust Arsenals bacline but Kola does offer offensive threath and Ramsey although his starting positions doesn´t scream buy, he has stats that are very good indeed and he is a decent finisher. Ozil and Sanchez is too pricey imo

I would want Ramsey imt, but not at the expense of Gross?

As people say, Trippier is a risk but you have 5 defenders playing so you can afford it, maybe. but i would rather have Kun than Kaku and to afford that you could downgrade trippier to Maguire for instance. People wil tell you Firmino is a waste, i think he will come good. Decent value, not now but he will be over the season

Ramsey down to Richarlison, but those hinges upon the other suggestion i gave you and Ramsey is a good shout.

Think Francis better than Daniels for next few weeks as the easy teams They play are defensively strong so Daniels attacking returns could be under threat. Think it could be another meee- ward scenario with the cb getting more bonus. Agree???

Daniels is much more potent but it saves you the cash so it could be worth it if reinvested elsewhere rightly. I had Francis in my GW1 team with exactly same thinking. I tend to avoid having defenders from Bournemouth, Stoke and Swansea for some reasons. It´s not that those teams won´t get CS but in my experience they seem to come more unexpected and thus more difficult to predict in a rotation based team-structure i´m working with. If one have someone from say Bournemouth or Swansea it´s Daniels and Fabianski for me as they offer points potential in more ways than one

Don't get Kola. Get one more starter on the bench minimum.

      Kola -> Daniels/Francis, Hunemeir -> Dunk/Duffy

      Prefer Aguero to Kaku

Would you drop either Kane or Aguero to Lukaku just for the next gameweek and then swap back?

Kane's record vs Arsenal makes him potential (c)
Fed up missing his hauls so may just stick with him!

Aguero obv rotation problem but fixtures aren't bad

No Lukaku is a worry for next 2 I admit!

Salah and Mané double up in midfield too much?

no it could work , Liverpool score plenty of goals , Salah and Mane will score a very high % of those with them both assisting each other too , i'd be more worried about Manes injury record than anything else

I don't know if this is a given. I am thinking about a double-up to be fair, but I am also wary about how horrible Liverpool can play out of nowhere. Obviously, Mane and Coutinho back changes things, but they are capable of doing something stupid in defense which then carries that nervous energy throughout the team.

yeah but Liverpool will score 70 - 80 + goals in the league this year easily , the way things are going Salah will probably score 25+ of them with a bunch of assists too , and Mane will score a lot of goals and assists too , i'd personally prefer that double up to say Sane & Sterling cos at least you know they will definitely play if fit

This is a lot of recency bias because they have scored 4 against West Ham. Not every defense is that bad. You never once thought of getting rid of Salah GW6-GW10?

no Salah is a season keeper for me , all players blank , its to be expected , but as long as players like Salah and a lesser extent Richarlison keeps getting chances even if they miss then i'm reasonably happy cos i know on another day they will go in instead of going wide

Yeah, but Kane & Lukaku were season keepers after their hauls too. You seem set in your ways. Go for it. It's a fair shout.

So Aguero to start against Leicester?

City play Feyenoord at home midweek perfect for Jesus to start?

I think so. There was some talk about Kun being rested after internationals, and Jesus preferred in away matches, but I don't see it that way.

Obviously, second guessing Pep is still risky, but it does seem that Sane Aguero Sterling will be the first choice front line up. Whether that means they'll play v Leicester is another debate

Would it be possible that when Kompany returns City changes back to 3man backline with wingbacks and 2 strikers allowing Jesus and Aguero to play together. Doesn't make sense as they have played so well with 4 man backline but it is Pep. Sane and Sterling benched for good...

I think if there's one thing you can probably bank on with Mendy injured, it is that both Sane & Sterling won't be benched at the same time.

With so much rotarion, typical PPG ang PPM are getting less effective. For exemple aguero was available and unused twice, but his 1st sub may have done only 2x 2pts. I would adjust his numbers by adding 4pts and 2 match played.
Where can i find the data on how many times a player was available?
    Cheers

Christensen is still too uncertain .There is Zappacosta and Rudiger which can be ahead of him. Che 3 man backline will be Azpilicueta - Cahill - Rudiger ? Moses, Zappacosta, Alonso as WB's. Maybe they can solve the issue between Conte and Luiz, it's not that long ago when Conte was praising Luiz performance. Also Conte has been complaining about too small squad...
