Members Paddy Power Cup II – Entry Now Open

As the Paddy Power Cup V nears its conclusion, Fantasy Football Scout are pleased to announce that free entry for the Members Paddy Power Cup II is now open. Members looking to follow in the footsteps of our reigning champ, Kippax Kloggers, can register their entry for the competition by clicking this link (login required).

What is the Members Paddy Power Cup?

The Members Paddy Power Cup is our version of the Fantasy Premier League’s (FPL) Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the Manager with highest in the overall standing will progress.

How do I enter?

As with the non-members Paddy Power Cup, entry for the competition is free and simple, just follow this link (login required) and fill out the form as required. A confirmation email will be sent shortly after you’ve submitted your details to acknowledge your entry has been received. Just like the FPL, multiple entries to the Cup are not permitted. Please ensure that you enter your FPL Team Id details correctly, any entries added incorrectly will not be entered into the qualifying round. Newly created FPL teams are not permitted.

When does it start?

All entries received before the Gameweek 24 deadline on February 4 11.30 am will be entered into the qualifying round. The top-scoring 512 managers in Gameweek 24 will progress to the first round proper which will be played in Gameweek 25. Again, FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying round will be published shortly after Gameweek 24 has been completed. The draw for the first round will follow soon after.

Are there prizes?

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

Winner – £150 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
Runner-up – £75 worth of free bets. £30 Amazon Voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £20 Amazon Voucher

A Paddy Power account is not required for entry but entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 and over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions.

If you’ve yet to register a Paddy Power account, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10.

Sounds stupid but what time will the transfer deadline be for the forthcoming GW? - Would like to make my transfers as late as possible with it being 19:45 kick-offs hoping team sheets might be posted early? (don't like this rumor about Rooney possibly being injured, might swap for Dzeko)

Anyone who’s Wild Carding for 24 leaving out Dempsey (City away) ?? – taking a punt on a player for one GW only then out for CD straight away. Potential players: Ramsey/Arteta vs BLA, Walters vs SUN, City MF (Milner/AJ,etc) vs FUL, Ben Arfa/Cabaye vs AST, Ramires vs UTD. If used WC already would still like to hear opinion for what I may do..

  Not something I've considered part. with Dempsey's price rises. None of those options make much appeal tbh.
  
  I have put Ade in for one week v WIG and getting rid in the w/c cull next week. One of the advantages of playing your w/c in week 24 I guess.

  I did think about doing something similar, but 2 things stopped me. 1) I already have Dempsey so would lose out selling him in GW24 and rebuying in GW25, but more importantly 2) You wouldn't want to be in the situation where injuries elsewhere forced your hand and you couldn't bring Dempsey in for his tasty fixtures.

  - now look at types of saves
  - de gea has poor confidence
  - now look at the only fixture they both played in
  - now look at the rabbit, the deck of cards, and the woman about to be sawn in half

  That article strikes me as a rather poor attempt at fitting the stats to the argument.

  Just give him a week or 2, see how he plays then get him in on a FT..
  
  Also Huth > shotton and get rid of dawson.. upgrade him to someone better.. Spurs have terrible fixtures.. for the next 5-6 Gws..

For the second time in two years of playing this stupid, pointless game I've managed to sell a player I wanted to keep while fiddling about with the wildcard. Last year I sold VDV and now I've just lost Krul, instead of Vorm.

Alright chaps, messing around with my GW24 wildcard (only interested in the GW24-27 games as i'll be wildcarding again in GW28) - any opinions on this lot appreciated. Numbers in brackets are players I already have and wait I paid for them.....

Sorenson, Ruddy (4.0)
Huth, Caulker (3.9), Simpson (4.0), Williamson, Senderos
Silva, Bale (8.9), Dempsey (8.5), Walters, Pilkington
RVP (11.9), Aguero, Dzeko

Bank 0.3m

Only real question is which cheap 5th mid to go for? 5.4m available so I'm between Sigurdsson, Pilks and HBA. I'd only likely play them in GW24 (benching Dempsey (mcy)) and perhaps GW25 (benching Walters). Also, depending on which I get, is it worth upgrading Ruddy for the GW25 games where Sorenson has (ful)?

      Not convinced about Dzeko IN esp in GW24, where he could possibly only play 2 games before Balo's back. A City defender is a must, imo. Also you have loads of options in Ba, Studge, BZ, Helguson all with decent fixtures.
      
      Newcastle are without Tiote. Stoke will play 3 games between gw25 & 26 and we could see rotation. Also they aren't too keen on a CS this season against weaker teams. Fulham can only attack or defend at a time. City defender is a must with their fixtures.
      
      I'd go Williamson/Huth > Bad K atleast, Dzeko > Ba .

        Cheers, you may be right, although even with the rotation threat Dzeko has racked up considerably more than Kompany and Richards. Dzeko -> Ba was my plan for GW26, unless Dzeko goes nuts between now and then and nails down a starting role. I just fancy MCY to score a lot in the next 4 games, and with Silva, Kun and Dzeko in your team you cover almost all bases.

      I see. Last season I had my best season to date. Top 3k. I only used my January wild-card, and just to move around 5-6 players (mostly reserves).
      
      Chances are that your team will work well enough so that you won't need a gw28 wild card, and instead risk messing it up.
      
      I would just play this wild card with a "rest of the season" perspective, and wait with the "standard issue" WC until things have gone belly up.

On my wild-card and currently considering the following 3 scenarios

a) Dzeko, Ba, Dempsey, Valencia
b.1) Aguero, Ba, Sigurdsson and Dempsey
b.2) Aguero, Ba, Sigurdsson and Valencia
c) Aguero, Helguson, Dempsey, Valencia

What do you think? The main point here is having a clear-cut attacking Sub or not.

Can any Chelsea fans in here begin to defend your captain and/or manager?

I know football is a funny thing, often creating the strongest blind loyalties outside of family, but at what point would you stop supporting your team? I'm at the point of ambivalence re the national team, and bear in mind I've cried before when England have been knocked out a tournament. It's clear now what a bunch of immoral c*nts many of them are, but the final straw was the FA's backing of their racist captain.

And it's not about jealousy of the money they earn - it's a basic sense of right and wrong, and an understanding of the damage done by putting these people on a pedestal because they're good at a game we like to watch. Remember these are role models to kids across the world.

        O don't get me wrong, I totally agree. If I could have waited that long, I would have. If Nino wouldn't have taken a hit already, I'd tell him to wait, as well.
        
        But neither of those cases came to be, so its not too big of a deal, to me. Even in their bad fixtures, I still want Bale and Valencia. You yourself even said you still wanted Adebayor. (man was he dreadful today)
        
        Assuming no injuries come up, I'll have Kompany starting this week to complete my set of City players. Would it have been better to wait until week 24? Sure, but I'm happy with what has transpired.

        TBH I was set up for this week with Nani (C) but not to be as I told you I'm more concerned about the odd weeks for a cup game.
        
        Now, only thing that stops me is my current defence:
        
        Given - Enrique - Evans - Walker should all score well this week. I really fancy a Spurs defender this week
        My new defence: LindeGas/Vorm - Komp - Fulham def - Evans/another City defender might not score as well as my current defence, which includes a double up on United or City.
        
        Attacking potential, I don't see much upside by WC-ing this week. Allows me to give Studge one more week
        
        Jeez. I'm confused all over again. If I WC, it would be solely to release the 4 pt hit.

        I too would fancy a Spurs defender, but I like a lot of defensive options this week. I like your WC defense much more. You're being very kind to Aston Villa to think your keeper won't be an improvement.
        
        why give Studge one more week if you don't have to? Form doesn't look to be returning anytime soon.
        
        Besides Studge and Nani out there really isn't an offensive upside to WCing?
