As entry opens for the Members-only Paddy Power Cup VI, we’ve almost reached the final stage of it’s predecessor. Gameweek 22 saw four fantasy managers face off in the Semi-Finals of the Paddy Power Cup V. In case you missed the summary in this week’s ScoutCast, here is how the two ties panned out…

sleepingmaster 48 – 41 ChickenDevil

sleepingmaster advances to the Grand Final after a seven-point win over ChickenDevil. A late fight-back courtesy of Antonio Valencia’s 13-point haul wasn’t enough to close the gap after Stephane Sessegnon and, to a lesser degree, Ciaran Clark’s performances the day before.

Sitting 59,659th in the world, sleepingmaster advances as the underdog, but is safe in the knowledge that he’s already pocketed prizes worth over £100. ChickenDevil will have to settle for a Gameweek 23 3rd-place play-off to bag a prize.

Raasclart 26 – 37 Funkyav

Eleven points was the margin of victory for Funkyav over Raasclart, who has John Ruddy’s unlikely clean sheet against Chelsea to thank. With Funkyav backing a heavy Chelsea win, seeing as his team boasted the likes of Juan Mata and captain Daniel Sturridge, fortune was certainly on his side.

Need help on my defenders,
I have Hanley,BAE,Enrique,R Taylor,Cahill,
A few of these defenders have dropped out of favour.I have 26m to spend on 5 defenders.
Which 5 defenders are the best to have for the next month or so?

  I would drop all of them, bar possibly Enrique depending what price you bought him at.
  
  R Taylor and Cahill are rotation risks, Cahill may not start for weeks, Hanley is in a shit team, BAE has shit fixtures after this week.
  
  Best 5 for that money IMO:
  
  Kompany, Senderos, Taiwo/Ferdinand, Simpson/Santon, Caulker
  
  That gives you nice rotation, with Komps to play every week for 23.5.
  
  Or two big defs:
  
  Kompany, Verm, Senderos, Simpson/Santon, Caulker/Shotton

  I'd lose BAE and Cahill, much better options for that money, and upgrade Richards to Bad K. Gerrard is a question-mark but a good differential, and not sure about Ben Arfa's time with Ba and Cisse returning from AKON. Keane - don'tlike this at all, could consider Zamora, Studge, etc.

Seems everybody on FFS has copied everyone else on FFS.

Same midfield. Im looking for a switch up.

Silva. < YES. Bale < AGAIN YES.

now comes the science bit.

Dempsey is a class act. I dont see many more tricks in him this season, but I do agree hes worth a place in the 15 squad.

Sessegnon is massively attacking, but if everybody has him I think its a frustrating gain.

Differential City. My 2nd team now consists of:

Buzsaky / Oxlade / McLean in the midfield.

I just dont wanna follow the crowd, but accept it is now at the point where some are MUST haves.

  The generic team that FFS produces usually does very well, it is the FEW differentials that separate us from each other. Don't go with that midfield.

  Oxlade looked great for part of a game, but he's a year away from being steady contributor yet. Stubborn Wenger will continue to back Arshavin, just to keep from looking like he's throwing him to the wolves. A mid of Silva/Bale/Buzsaky/Oxlade/McLean is a few steps too far out on that branch, imho.

simpson and taiwo rotate well with senderos and clark for now and i have my other wildcard spare
slight problem that team is -1.9m overbudget and i wanted some money spare for welbeck to ba

so how should I save some money- one of the big 5 in midfield out and if so for who? moses and maclean?

  No, seriously, I think maybe Senderos and Dyer and not just because Dyer looks like Chris Rock. Senderos seems more settled in to a position than Santon. New arrival Cisse at Newcastle, plus Ben Arfa emergence pushes Raylor back into backline mix. Him, plus Simpson, Coloccini, Williamson smacks of too much rotation risk for Santon.
