Very soon we will be handing Members the ability to view the Opta performance statistics in weekly snapshots – so you’ll be able to view how players perform by the Gameweek. More on that and other “Phase two” developments later.

For now, I thought I’d give you a glimpse of the kind of analysis that this allows by dissecting the data from Gameweek 7 and assessing some of the players that leap out in terms of the key indicators – Total Crosses, Key Passes, Successful Passes in the Oppositions Half and Goal Attempts.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Foster Krul
    Alex Konchesky Hughes Shawcross Jara
    Gerrard Malouda Bale Davies Barton
    Drogba Tevez Carroll
    1.2 in the bank

Nani looks like a must for the WBA game, so Alex (over 20k sheep have brought him in haha) will be downgraded to accommodate

    Thinking:
Alex => someone under 5, maybe Elmo?
    Bale => Nani

The in either GW8/9, Gerrard back to Fabregas

I'm sure these plans will change by the deadline haha, but it's pretty slow right now so decided to post
    Any thoughts?
    Cheers!

      Sounds about right.

      VDV rather than Nani?

      Elmo, Wigan, Birmingham, Coleman?

Okay, I gave in. Alex's injury and the fact I was already on a 4 point hit means I decided to Wildcard! I also feel like it's good to jump on the Fabregas wagon early. If he scores big, I won't be left behind, and if he doesn't or gets injured, I can replace him with any midfielder in the game and upgrade one of my defenders. The other players I like a lot, and I'm stubbornly sticking with Carroll. Good fixtures coming up, and that's a 0.3 loss to sell him. I'm sort of regretting not getting Etherington in earlier though just to get that 0.2 rise for profit. Every 0.1 counts!

    My team is now:

    Foster, Krul

    Samba, Elmohamady, Coleman, Alcaraz, Jara

Fabregas, Malouda, Nani, Van Der Vaart, Albrighton

    Drogba, Tevez, Carroll

0.0 in bank. Team value: 103.9.

        Hehe.

        Same defense.

Someone before the season ridiculed me for my theory on having "the cheapest bench possible", but it's worked out so far because it means I get most of my money into the starting XI. You know you'll have to bench one of Etherington and Elmander every week right?

That is the plan week-in week-out, playing 4-4-2, 3-5-2 and 3-4-3. I need Bent to comeback in last season form I just feel Sunderland have decent fixtures I play Elmander ahead of Etherington I think stoke away record is not competent enough...but way every week?

You'll have to unless you plan on dropping one of your expensive front 6. This is just my theory, but I think that if you pay more than 5.0 for a player, you'll want him to play every week and it'd feel like a waste having him on the bench. Hence, the "cheapest bench possible" rule which I've thus far been following. I've never had a player who costs more than 5.0 sit on my bench (I bought Carroll at 5.0), so that I can put almost all my valuable money into getting the best XI possible.

Agreed. Fair and safe Theory. I'm looking ahead in fixtures it's impossible to get points from your best players every week, sometimes I'll drop Nani and VdV if I have to suit my needs, (having 5.0 or 10.0 in your bench who didn't score it doesn't hurt) but balanced team based in coming fixtures it can be very useful in my view.

No. Don't do it. Dropping Flo-Mo will bite you in the ass. Just look at his returns over the season so far. He might get rested for the odd game, but as a LWF for the champions, and a damn fine finisher, he should not be sold unless he gets injured or badly falls out of favor.

Jagielka Shawcross Samba (Evans, Van Damme)
        Arteta Malouda Etherington Petrov VDV

For the time being, Coleman looks a better prospect, but he isn't as guaranteed of starts, and Elmohamady has been in fine form. It's only a matter of time before Elmo gets an assist or a goal. He's a big guy too, so setpieces could be a way into even more points. For the season, Elmo, for the next 5 or so, Coleman.

Fixtures are not as important as people seem to think. Fixtures are most important for defender and goalie rotation, but once you have that down, fixtures for mid and forwards shouldn't matter much if they have fantasy potential, especially if you get players playing in a good team.

Did you see that stats thing on Van Der Vaart? He's effectively playing as an OoP forward for a top 5 club. At 7.8 he's a steal, and to my mind, a must-have.

Cricket was a good finish. Interesting trades. You are scraping the barrel when looking at those Blackpool mids on that game. If you can spend alittle extra Gomez from Wigan is a great buy as he will have at least 2 good weeks of making money.

Looking at your old team, you need to replace Harper as subs score half points. I assume Lampard became Gerrard, you need better strikers etc etc. Try & have 15 fit players as every point counts.

Would like mummy in instead of coleman cant afford it in this team, although i could replace Shawcross with him... And no to the other three, wanna keep Malouda coz there is no reason to take him out... Tevez is quite essential long-term although i am looking at RVP when hes fit and firing again... IF and when he's fit..

When Fabulous returns Nasri won't get game time in the middle. Rio coming back from injury, though he should keep a couple of clean sheets if played. If you're playing 3 at the back then you could actually keep Alex.

Join me on the bandwagon and go Bale > VDV. You've a good team, you don't have to make a keeping change, though if you do I'd recommend Krul or Al-Habsi. Konch should go as well.

Hi Uz, well done with 5 green arrows in a row. You have the players most of us have.

I think keep Davies for 1 more home game. If you still want to trade him I wont get Nasri. Nzog/Adam/Brunt/Ethers maybe? A lot cheaper than Nasri.

You need to get ready for the Fab trade. Not sure if your budget will accommodate him, but you need to break the bank to get him. Alex/Konchesky/Bale might have to go.

I meant you got Harper in the 1st place because he rotated with Foster well. I still have Harper myself & Krul is the favourite whenever I do the trade which could be this gameweek with Newcastle at home & Foster vs Arsenal.

You spend too much on your GK , don't need Cech. FWD is a little light maybe Tevez for Bent or Chamahk or do you have enough for Dembele to Tevez?

Cech is a great way of ensuring a guaranteed starter in Chelsea's defence, Foster is a little expensive as a back up, in circumstances where you will be playing Cech at least 60-70% of the time, I would get Krul/Carson/Hahhneman whichever rotates best with Chelsea defence.

Arshavin should be replaced by Nasri for the time being and then Walcott when he returns for better value for money. I would however see none of them as viable replacements for Cesc in your team, the boy is a machine and probably one of the only players in the FPL that can have explosive weeks, week after week.

Chamakh will also be dropped in a few weeks for RVP, so if you are WC'ing I suggest him out.

        So, Arshavin/Foster/Chamakh/Dembele OUT
Fabregas/Drogba at the very least IN

    Morning everyone!

Just wondering which option people prefer (presuming ALL are fit and in the starting XI):

    1. Bosingwa, Kolarov, Berbatov

    2. Bosingwa, Coleman, Tevez

    3. Kolarov, Coleman, Tevez

Thanks in advance and goodluck to you all 🙂

2 - easy, if Bosingwa does get the RB position back, which I doubt, because it is generally believed that it will be shared for the season with Ivanovic/Fereirra/Bosingwa, then he is a bargain.

Coleman, if he can nail down a starting slot, which he is at the moment, but no guarantee that will continue in the medium term, he is a bargain, a la Baines 2 years ago.

Tevez, is on penalties, and it seems to me like he gets alot of them.
