The goals and points flowed at the Emirates Stadium, as Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino underlined his Fantasy credentials as a much-needed striker solution with a consecutive double-digit return.

Once again in this fixture, defences capitulated as Arsenal and Liverpool produced a glut of goals. And inevitably, Mohamed Salah was again on the scoresheet.

He rewarded the 715881 (12.8%) who handed him the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) captaincy with another double-figure return via a goal and assist, replicating his contribution in the reverse match-up with Arsenal at Anfield.

Salah began the evening by earning an assist for Philippe Coutinho’s opener, his pass intended for the Brazilian ballooning up off a defender before a smart improvised header diverted it past Petr Cech.

It means that Salah has now produced attacking returns in 10 of 11 Gameweeks. Meanwhile, Coutinho has supplied three goals and four assists from his last four starts.

Owned by just 11.5%, Coutinho was signed by another 73,000 managers ahead of Gameweek 18. But given the wealth of options in midfield, the emerging form of his compatriot Firmino may prove even more significant.

Having struggled to stand out as a viable option to this point, Firmino produced another goal and assist tally – mirroring his display at Bournemouth in Gameweek 18.

Once again, that contribution was also rewarded with bonus points, though only the two, as Emre Can’s assist and all-round contribution (13 recoveries, four net tackles and 80% pass completion) picked up the maximum.

Firmino had produced just three goals and a single assist from the previous 13 appearances prior to last weekend, but has seemingly burst into life. He now has three double-figure scores from his last five Gameweeks which includes just four starts.

Owned by 25.3%, he was recruited by 179,000+ ahead of Friday’s deadline and will surely now boom. He is already the top transfer target ahead of Gameweek 20.

Jurgen Klopp’s rotation policy appears to be the only barrier to immediate investment in both Firmino and Coutinho.

Liverpool face basement dwellers Swansea City at Anfield on Boxing Day, with encounters with Leicester and Burnley to come in the six days that follow.

Given Klopp’s recent penchant for tinkering, we can expect members of his fab four – particularly Firmino and Coutinho – to make way in one of those three matches.

We also know that both Salah and Sadio Mane will be allowed to attend an awards ceremony in Ghana 24-hours before the FA Cup tie with Everton. That would suggest that Klopp will rest that pair for that derby meeting, increasing the chances that Firmino and Coutinho will play some part. That, in turn, would make them more of a risk for Gameweek 22 four days prior

Ozil impresses again

While strikes from Alexis Sanchez and Granit Xhaka allowed Arsenal a route back into the game, in Fantasy terms, they will barely register.

The Sanchez goal was his first in four Gameweeks, and he needs to do far more to convince Fantasy managers to take a risk on a player who could be more focused on the January transfer window.

But Mesut Ozil may yet become a factor in our season.

The German’s beautifully taken goal from Alexandre Lacazette’s flick means that he has been involved in seven in his last six home matches with three goals and four assists.

Owned by just 2.6% of Fantasy managers, Ozil’s continued progress at least warrants monitoring.

Monreal blow could revive Kolasinac

Arsene Wenger again opted for a back four which meant no starting role for Sead Kolasinac for a third successive match. Ainsley Maitland-Niles again started at left-back, with Nacho Monreal kept alongside Laurent Koscielny in central defence.

But an ankle injury for Monreal forced Wenger into changes at half-time as the fit-again Shkodran Mustafi was introduced.

While Kolasinac is unlikely to earn an immediate recall, a spell on the sidelines for Monreal would mean that Bosnian would be the only rotation option available for Maitland-Niles.

Still owned by 13.2%, Kolisinac was sold by 134,000+ ahead of today’s deadline. He is currently the second most sold asset ahead of Gameweek 20.

It means that Monreal is currently Arsenal’s most popular player, with his 810,000+ ownership now awaiting an update on his prognosis ahead of the trip to Crystal Palace.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Got Pope/Elliot, Mbemba and Niasse to sort out over the next GW or two, with 1.7ITB and 1FT. Not sure how to structure the moves though, thinking something like the below (no Utd defence or WHU players).

    A) DDG, Elliot, Mbemba, Delpoitre
    B) DDG, Elliot, Ogbonna, Niasse
    C) Pope, Elliot, Ogbonna, DCL (+0.6)
    D) Something else (suggestions?)

Leaning towards C because that gives me a full playing 15 and some spare cash to maybe improve GK. But the lure of DDG is tempting when the others would only play if they have very good fixtures.

    Gameweek 20 Planning

What are you key plans for Gameweek 20?

Should all your players come through Gameweek 19 unscathed - who will you be bringing in, or moving out?

And who will you be captaining?

Here’s a few issues to consider:

Salah is a force of nature

Salah against Swansea looks an enticing prospect. But will he definitely start the match given Klopp’s rotation? If he does, given his effective ownership, is handing him the armband essential?

    Kane owners

A home game against Southampton with a blank Gameweek 21 makes the Spurs man a nailed on strong option. But will his Wembley curse against ‘easy sides’ continue? Have the days of non owners hiding behind the sofa ended?

Keep an eye on Gameweek 19 teamsheets

Any regular starters getting a rest today could be strong prospects for the first XI in Gameweek 20.

Remember the blank and double Gameweeks

This is a perfect time to plan. Making sure you have 2 FTs for GWK 22 may be vital. So too is making sure you an field a credible XI in GWK 21.

      Salah - Hazard - Sterling - Silva - (Gross)
      Kane(c) - DCL

DCL / Gross is a nice rotation.

I had no captain scores over 6 for the first dozen gameweeks as kept missing the hauls my players did get. Have captained Salah every week since 14 and he'll be keeping it for the next two as well, aware of rotation but could happen to anyone.

Doosra’s stats will show Liverpool and city have the most favorable matchups. Capping a Liverpool “Fab 4” or City player is essential

      1. Pray for no injuries to your squad
      2. Wait for today’s games to end
      3. Assess rotation risk

I will hold onto Kane until the rest of the season. My issue is with Lacazette, I need to flog him for either Firmino, Morata (had him until a couple weeks ago) or Rooney. I have had zero luck with Firms over the years, so I am hesitant with bringing him back in as I had promised myself never to bring him in again! Bringing back Morata into the fold would cost me an extra transfer as I have 0 ITB. Rooney would free up more funds but I also have DCL, the former almost seems to be flying under the radar even though he is the 3rd highest scoring FWD?! 19 BPs so far is incredible. Another issue is not having Alonso, I really want him back in, but once again he disappointed me earlier on in the season. I already have Ogbonna and the aforementioned Kane for GW22 but I would also like to have Adrian and a Spurs MF. It seems as though I will need to splash points on transfers, which is not ideal as I have been taking hit after hit in recent times!

I also considered Rooney, but he's reverse OOP, and heavily reliant on penalties (which Baines may take back). Last match he scored a penalty, and his assists were a penalty miss which DCL scored from the rebound, and a routine pass to Siggy for his worldy. I just don't see his form as sustainable (plus don't want to double on DCL who is great value atm).

Good points, but the fact is that Rooney has gone off over the last 5 GWs since Big Sam was installed! Another interesting option is Gray, it would free up even more funds...though Watford's form is quite bad. I don't trust Soton's attack due to rotation risk.

All being well I've save a transfer either GWK 20 or 21 as really want to go into DGWK 22 with two frees. Got my eye on Lanzini /Arnautovic and Eriksen/Son.

Captaincy is a straight shoot out between Salah and Kane for me. Kane's security of starts during this congested time may swing it for the Spurs man. But as we saw this week owning Salah is no longer enough to secure a green arrow due to his huge ownership - especially among the top 10K.

Playing my wildcard so trying to factor this all in is tricky. Thinking of getting rid of Kane (even though he's nailed) for Morata and bringing him back for the double.
I think this season, more than previous, is all about having a strong bench, and not just focussing on the starting 11. And this is even more crucial over the hectic Christmas schedule.

Assuming all goes well this weekend injury-wise, I'm hoping to save my FT for the first time in a long time, happy with all except Monreals new flag.

Keeping Kane longterm. Golden boot. Happy to start DCL when Kane has a blank. Too much value tied up in some players to be able to sell and rebuy.
Also have Ogbonna. Will reassess who else is worth getting in for the double but I'm quite happy with my squad for the foreseeable future GW21 shouldn't change it.

      DDG (elliot)
      Ota Jones Christensen Ogbonna (Monreal)
      Hazard Sterling Pogba Salah Richarlison
      Kane (DCL, Depo)

I am looking to bank the FT - team is looking really tasty at the moment.
My biggest issue is to play either DCL or Zaha, but given Arsenals poor defending last night I will probably bench DCL (the new RLC) who has been benched as my first sub every GW since i brought him in.

I am gonna (C) Kane regardless of his points today. Told myself I would (C) Kane in GW 19,20,21 and then sell him if he do not start to deliver some points worthy of his price tag.

Currently Captaining Salah, but I'm seriously considering Rooney.

I do have 5.4 in the bank, so upgrading D. Gray to a big hitter is another option, sorting out Niasse, or swapping Gomes to DDG. I'm worried Adrian might unexpectedly get a rest with Hart breathing down his neck

I have the advantage of using my wc this gw and as you wrote this is a perfect time to plan.I will try to have only nailed players but also nailed subs. Some players that i am thinking are Adrian as my second gk,Kane+Morata,Masuaku as my fifth defender.
Have to decide wich 2 Mancity midfielders i want.I have not yet decided if i will play 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 because with Firmino back or Lukaku as an option or even Rooney its difficult.
Saving my ft in gw21 allows me to have two ft in gw22.I think i will captain Salah.
It's difficult to guess who will get a rest or not so i don't think its a good idea in this period to make many transfers with aim to try to find 11 starting players. It's better to have cheap nailed subs.

Liverpool played on Friday night and dropped points, they have as long a rest as anyone so no reason why Salah won't play, he's too key for them.

Salah C, no point having him otherwise as his points send you backwards, didn't captain Kane yesterday and each goal still sent me up.

Seems that the mechanics of the game is forcing Salah to be the PermaC.

I'll roll the next transfer and have 2 frees for GW22, Lloris and Arnautovic seem safe and decent bets.

If you're referring to Andy and myself, I think we were both aware of hits prior to being introduced to Jay.

For me - and probably Andy - it was the Morata card that changed things.

I think I mentioned that I've never got on with Morata and I suspect he'll even be rested for Stoke with Arsenal in mind. Conte has said before that he doesn't fancy him for 3 games in a 7 days and I don't think he'll risk that prior to Arsenal. Certainly I won't be feeling totally secure about him for GW21.

So the prospect of one start in three meant the hit was just about justified, particularly as I was drawn to doubling up on City for today.

Of course, City beat Stoke 7-2 for you. They will draw 0-0 with mighty Bournemouth for me.

          Not you two specifically.

Loads of mods - in partic Az, mine and Greenwindmill's main chasers TM, Jack and Alex all took hits too.

Removing Morata is definitely the right move. Most of us who ditched in GWK 17 are considerably up on the deal as the key replacements have done well. Getting a mid like Sane will produce similar good returns over christmas.

Morata just not one of "my players". Not sure why, but just never convinced by him. I could have gone back to Bobby F. I ripped my team up to back that guy. Then ripped it up again when he let me down. Now Klopp calms rotation and he comes good.

I have similar issues with Firmino. Took a leap of faith to get him in after my problems with him over the last season and a half.

I like Morata but having hazard sort of negates the value - esp re Captaincy- of another 10m+ player in the same team Whereas at least Firmino, Austin, DCL etc are offering value.

Morata would have to get at least a brace, probably as captain, to justify keeping him. Especially if I was then rested for Stoke.

He might well do but Kane was always going to be my captain for GW10.

As long as Sane avoids a card, I think he'll outscore Morata over GW19,20 and 21. I'd say he'll get more minutes given he's also been rested of late. But like I say, City may even choose today as a bad day at the office.

It would be typical of Sane to do that now. I owned him for 7 weeks and he got me 14 points in total! So removed him for the in form Silva.....yeah, you can tell how that went for me!

Nah, I posted Thursday morning and mentioned it. Having slept on the Morata card, I felt it was the best time to move to 3-5-2 or 4-5-1. I was going to delay it but wanted to gamble on Sane today and for the next two.

Yeah, was aware of that too. Every 0.1 can help come the Free Hit. I also just fancy Sane - not having him was quite difficult and I think he can kick on again to provide value for 8.6. At least until the CL rotation picks up again.

Agreed. I’m definitely looking at Sane/Silva to partner Sterling in midfield. City aren’t just beating teams, they are walking goals in for fun and are very unselfish in front of goal

              You did the rational thing.
I was planning on saving but Morata's yellow forced my hand. I ended up going Morata and Magic Bean to DCL and Sané for a hit.

Think, more than anything else. It's the double (and blank) gameweek along with suspensions that has played a big part in people going hit crazy (if at all). It just happens to coincide with Jay's Scoutcast appearance and everyone is like, "Jay has twisted everyone's mind."

    6. Freddo

I'm glad he did it, I had planned a hit this week to get Pogba (which didn't work) and he helped to cover it up as the hits were flying.

It's silly, some people are such Lemmings, Jay was in a fantastic position to gamble, even with it going tits up he's still in the top 500, there will be some who blindly followed him who will be butchered today where ranks are more volatile, hard to feel any sympathy for those and it's deserving of a lol at you for not being capable of thinking for themselves.

      Hi, Liverpool fan here.
      1) Almost definitely will be rotated over the 3 games, can't see them both starting the Leicester and Burnley games which are 48 hours apart, let alone all 3.
      2) I can't see it happening myself, if we couldn't get a 'replacement' in the summer, we won't be able to get one in January - he will go at the end of the season though imo.

Could of really done without this firminho headache. The only way I can upgrade DCL to firminho is by dropping Kane or changing one of Salah, Sterling, KDB, Hazard or Coutinho. Thats not sensible is it?

Hoping captaining Aguero over Sterling will be enough of a differential to pay off, as more people seem to have been captaining Sterling.

      I think you'll be good.

      Sterling will.blank (owner )

The curse of being most transferred in player

The 1051 point dead team in my league that I post about every week has logged in and Wildcarded!

    Disaster.

    Optimistic plan:
This week: Pope + Abraham > Adrian + DCL 4
    Next week: Save FT
    DGW: Morata + Coutinho + Richarlison > Kane + Eriksen + Lanzini -4

    Can dream

    Fabianski
    Ottemendi / Christensen / Ogbonna
    Hazard / Sterling / Salah / Richarlison
    Morata / Kane / DCL

Elliott; Kenny / RLC / Duffy

    A) Hold transfer
    B) DCL and Hazard -> Firminio and Silva (or 8.7m mid) (-4)
    C) Elliott -> Adrain / a gk up to 5.8m

Maybe C to Adrian but not essential saving might be more valuable in this period. Looking good.

How bad did Monreal’s injury look? Does it look like he’ll miss the Palace game?

Cheers. I can bench him for Simpson next week anyway and then he’ll probably be gone for Alonso.
