Sunday treats us to a single, but nonetheless crucial, Gameweek 24 fixture as Southampton welcome Tottenham Hotspur to St Mary’s at 4pm.

After Sergio Aguero’s hat-trick at home to Newcastle yesterday, Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers are looking for a repeat performance from Harry Kane today.

Having put three past the Saints in a 5-2 win in Gameweek 20, the Spurs frontman is the number one captain choice in FPL, handed the armband by 29.3%.

However, the visitors’ potential at both ends of the pitch has been dented by the absence of key duo Hugo Lloris and Christian Eriksen through illness.

Sold by over 96,000 FPL managers last week, the Dane could now be subject to a late-January exodus – Mauricio Pochettino’s men play Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal in the subsequent three rounds of fixtures.

Up against a defence that has mustered just a single clean sheet in their last 11 at home, owners of Dele Alli and Son Heung-Min will be optimistic of returns – the pair plundered 15 and 14 points respectively in that recent triumph over the Saints.

In defence, Ben Davies is handed a fourth straight start for only the second time this term, with Danny Rose again missing out due to an ongoing knee complaint.

Is Sane at risk when Jesus returns? Also gotta think about potential blanks. You could be buying 2 BGW28 players. It looks good apart from that, though I wouldn't want to play Chilwell every week.

There's a good chance of no blank gw28 as the games can be played midweek in the same gw, although obviously with strong chance of rotation.

Anyone else with Son and Lingard as well as 2 frees? What are your plans?

I'm currently thinking keep Son (partly because taking him out involves a hit for me and also because of the constant Mahrez transfer links) and do Lingard to Shaqiri/Ox as I don't think he'll be nailed when Sanchez joins. Also have serious doubts as to whether his returns are sustainable.

Ling eriksen. Waiting for midweek cup conclusion and then fire them both most likely. Possibly with Kane to aguero if Arsenal win, or evenmaube sanchez curve ball. Template getting a bit dull

Yep. Likely doing Lingard > Shaqiri (good run of fixtures, plus one less blanker to worry about). Also probably going to do a short-term move of Kane > Kun to block my ML rivals who will be captaining Kun over the next few.

Indeed, but haven't they won something like one in 11? Not good enough in the knee jerk panic that is the premier league, plus they're only five (?) Points off the relegation zone. Having said that, I still don't agree with them and I'm certainly not justifying their decision.

    Adrian, Elliot
    Otamendi, Jones, Christensen, Dunk, Dummett
    Sterling, Arnie, Salah, Lingard, Son
    Kane, Aguero, Quaker Oats

        8 years, 18 days ago

Well I'd say Ramsey was potentially in line for a more advanced role until Mkhi was due to arrive. So now he's back competing with Wilshere and Xhaka, which makes him less nailed/attractive.

You didn't answer the question but were helpful on his offside tendencies. I reckon Walcott will improve a bit but doesn't hate losing enough to improve as much as Arnautovic's has.

I might buy him this week, but his bonus (and goal/assist) potential could really be hurt by his incessant offside tendencies.

I know it's a long way away and BGW/DGW fixtures haven't even been confirmed yet, but when are people thinking of using their free hit?

I assume we're all using it in a BGW so there's 3 GWs to choose from. GW28 will have a max of 2 teams missing so seems a waste then. GW31 and 35 will both be the bigger BGWs.

I personally think it will be best planning your FTs from now to BGW31 to be able to get 11 out, WC in 33 attacking the DGWs in 34 and 37 and completely disregarding the BGW35 as you have your free hit then

Next three for Spurs: MUN, liv, ARS. Is Kane going to be enough for those? Or keep Son, too? As we know, Son's home form is ridiculously good, but it's also against United (not quite as worried about Arsenal, of course).

Would rather have Theo? It is Stoke after all... Theo can score hattricks for fun

When was the last time a team in the top half of the table sacked their manager during the season? Was it Moyes?

      I think it was Moyes.
Watford and Silva were an untenable relationship at this point. Things went downhill after the talk of Silva going to Everton
